Winston Wächter Fine Art Seattle is proud to announce our sixth solo exhibition with Northwest painter Susan Dory. Throughout her career, Dory’s process-oriented paintings have been inspired by sculpture, design and natural forms, using countless layers of paint in conversation with one another. Her latest body of work, Micromega, continues this investigation, building her three-dimensional geometrical forms, and compacting them into two-dimensional space. For Dory, the components of her compositions are organic structures, working with each other, and with her, to create the art. Even the colors selected become collaborators, helping to dictate which shapes manifest and the relationship they will have with one another. Susan Dory was born in Oklahoma City, OK and currently works and resides in Seattle, WA. She studied at the Iowa State University in Ames, IA where she received a Bachelor's of Arts. Dory has received both national and local awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundaytion Grant, the Willard R. Espy Foundation Artist-In-Residence Fellowship and the Behnke Foundation's Neddy Artist Fellowship. Dory's works have been featured in The Seattle Times, Art in America and Blouin Art Info.
