Happy Father’s Day From Winston Wächter Fine Art
Robin Layton, Sundays With Dad
“As a kid I worshiped my dad beyond measure. Not even the God I knew in Sunday school could compare. I rarely saw him since he was away on business most of the time. At age 9, I was kidnapped by my mother and taken to Chicago so I never saw him again until graduating high school and moving back to Virginia. He is still my hero and the lessons I learned from him as a young child have always guided me through my life.” – Kim Keever

“I was born in the same rural Kansas hospital as my Papa, purportedly delivered on the exact same bed, by the same doctor who delivered him. I don’t know what that's done to me in Freudian terms, but growing up around his bizarre sense of humor and even-keeled outlook on life has indelibly and happily left its mark.” - Amanda Manitach

“When I was growing up, every evening after work my dad would retreat to the living room and listen to his vinyl collection. Big orchestral works by Wagner, Beethoven Tchaikovsky, Dvorak would fill the house with audible texture and color. After dinner he’d work late into the night in his wood shop. I still remember the smell of sweet sawdust. My dad fabricated every single panel I’d ever painted on until a couple years ago when mobility issues made it too difficult for him to be in his shop. This picture was taken at his “retirement party” when I gave him a bottle of whiskey for all his years of service to art.” – Betsy Eby

“Emmet Watson described Bill Speidel: ‘He was many things in this city: preservationist, promoter, writer, historian, entrepreneur, press agent, political operator, adman, lecturer and publisher.’ Remembered by most for his wit and sense of humor. He most influenced me with his permission giving nature and support for most things that I did and what a great father. How lucky was I!” – Julie Speidel

“A photo taken by my mother of my father, older brother, and me, which on the back reads:“Grenoble, France, April, 1954”.We’re all dressed as Bavarians because we lived for much of the year outside of Munich. It’s a celebratory photo for having successfully negotiated a snow-bound Alpine pass in a tiny English Ford with no snow tires, opposite side steering, no seat belts, and soft brakes.Putting the fun back in disfunction!” - Peter Waite
