ETHAN MURROW The Cowboy
Winston Wächter Fine Art Seattle is proud to announce The Cowboy, an exhibition of new works by Ethan Murrow. Please join us for our opening reception on Tuesday, April 18, 6 – 8 pm. The artist will be in attendance. Ethan Murrow’s latest body of work, “The Cowboy”, demonstrates beautifully his ability to tell an entire story in just one picture. These works ask us to question the romanticized notions of the American west and how it came to be. Did the strapping young cowboy ride off into the unclaimed sunset, or is it more complicated than that? Is the cowboy the hero or merely a cog in the larger machine set to claim all it sees? Murrow’s work requires us to reassess what we believe to be our true American history. Ethan Murrow - “Time to ride out of town on my hobby horse with my authentic dungarees and plastic cowboy hat. Catch you on the other side of that Mesa backdrop.” Murrow’s artwork has been exhibited extensively throughout the US and Europe. He is included in prestigious collections, such as the Guggenheim Foundation, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, the Clay Center for Arts and Sciences, and the Facebook Corporate Collection. Murrow has also been honored with a mural installation projects for the Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall at the Institute for Contemporary Art Boston and the atrium of MOCA Jacksonville.
