About Me

Growing up in Surprise, Arizona for the past fifteen years, I considers myself to be a long-time Arizona resident, but I have grown up in my fair share of places all over the world. From Italy to Germany, then New Mexico, and now Arizona, I have had the ability to experience a wealth of different cultures and places. I have always had a passion for all things creative and I enjoy being able to immerse myself in the creative process. From a young age I have enjoyed arts and crafts, photography, and graphic design, and I hope to carry these hobbies into my future design career.

I hope to create spaces that bring out the best in people while also maintaining healthy environments where people can thrive. Our interior environments leave a great impact on who we are as people, and it is important that they reflect the needs of all individuals.

Cornerstone

Live-work unit design for a family of Navajo descent in Phoenix, Arizona.

Cornerstone is in the Downtown Phoenix area amongst a variety of different building types such as cafes, retail stores, restaurants, and apartment complexes. This live-work space is nestled on the corner of 2nd street and E Roosevelt St. in the middle of the art district of Downtown Phoenix, more commonly referred to as Roosevelt Row. This is an area where artists can thrive in the selling and creation of art.

The term “Cornerstone” reflects an important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based. In relation to Navajo culture, this is a a space where their culture can be taught to those in the community. The triangle formation of the overall structure pays tribute to the Scared Mountains and the Navajo creation story. Software AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape

Mountain Park Health Center

Healthcare design for the Mountain Park Health Care Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

At Mountain Park the mission is to both improve and sustain the health of the surrounding community through affordable primary care. The goal was to create a one-stop-shop where those from the community can come in for a variety of different needs. Care is given in five different areas including dentistry, pediatrics, family health, OBGYN, and WIC (women, infants, and children).

Community outreach is the goal for this space, as much of the community comes from a lower income background. The concept for the space is centered around the honeybee; which represents brightness, personal power, and community harmony.

What is Healing?

Creating a space where both patients and employees alike can feel comfortable and relaxed.

Concept Development

Elements like texture, biophilia, and biomorphism can have a great impact on the healing capabilities of a space. With this, the concept of the “garden” was derived from these principles.

The overarching garden concept was then narrowed down to the smaller elements that comprise it. Bees play an important role in the life and health of plants in a garden space.

Arizona has around thirteen different bee species, making it one of the states with the most variety in bee populations. The honey bee stands as a representation of brightness, personal power, and community harmony.

Looking at the bigger picture, Mountain Park Health Center stands as the “hive” of the community where both workers and health care providers can help the lower income community.

Orange as a symbol of warmth and good health

Following the clinic’s initial branding, also pulling colors from the overall concept of “the garden”, more muted tones of colors found in nature were chosen for the overall color scheme.

The Monroe Abbey

Adaptive re-use design for the former Phoenix First Baptist Church, now known as the Monroe Abbey

The Monroe Abbey reisdes right in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, and it has a very long history spanning well over 100 years. In the first few decades of its opening, it was used regularly for Baptist church services, but in 1984, there was a fire which consumed the roof of the church. As a result, there is now a central “courtyard” that is left open to the elements.

Downtown Phoenix boasts a wealth of contemporary art including murals, sculptural art, and public art pieces. With this, the historic site can be meshed with the modern-day contemporary art that we see in the Phoenix area.
