Hello, I'm Joey of
Winter's Weather Knits I fell in love with the process of designing my own knits in 2018. I love experimenting with texture and unique
methods of construction in my designs. My inspiration comes from personal life events and the world around me, each piece often with a back story emphasizing
the contrast between positive and negative, light and dark, and hopes and fears.
Thank you for being a part of my creative journey.
Teddy Bear Vest Oh my snuggle wuggles, this is a cozy vest! Over the
years I’ve developed a love for natural yarn. I love the
sustainability aspect of using plant or animal fibres over man-made acrylics, as well as the value of handmade products that make use of more expensive materials
over cheap, mass-produced clothing. However, when I discovered faux fur yarn that looks real and has a gentle drape, I had to try it out.
I maintain my stance that acrylic yarns do not compare with natural fibres, particularly when it comes to
breathability. Thus, my original plan to make a sweater transformed into being just a vest. I was also never
intending to share a pattern but was swayed by others also wanting to try this yarn out. And so, here is my teddy bear vest.
Warning: may cause loved ones to be extra touchy feely.

Coastal Zip Up This year, my sister and I surprised our parents with a
family trip to the Sunshine Coast. Although not really a
coast, it was a nice getaway to a slower pace of life. We
spent time outdoors, hiking and exploring local markets. We also ate family meals, played board games, and
lounged around our little farmhouse. This zip up was so versatile, I wore it for the entire trip.
Although designed with simplicity in mind, this pattern includes little nuances that elevate the quality of the
finished piece. It features double-layered cuffs, collar and hems, as well as large pockets and of course, a zippered front opening.

Pines and Needles Socks Who doesn't need a pair of cozy tree socks? Who doesn't
have “pines and needles" waiting for the holiday season to arrive? Who doesn't love a good pun?
These are fun Wintery socks for the season ahead. You can stick to snowy vibes, go woodsy, or Christmas it right up!
The pattern uses simple slip stitch mosaic techniques so you don't have to be intimidated by knitting with two
colours at once. The strands carried on the inside by the slipped stitches give you an extra layer of warmth, while
the contrast between knit and purl stitches on the outside provide depth and texture in the scenery.

Winterline Sometimes you just need a quick, chunky knit to feel productive. Simple repeats that create fuzzy texture to keep you warm as Winter approaches. This cowlkerchief puts a twist on your basic stockinette and rib stitches, and creates lines of visual interest. Kettle River Cardi Last Summer, whilst having lunch with my boyfriend's
mom, she invited me to visit their trailer resort. Among the typical Summer activities I understood, she went on to describe a day trip whereby we would “take our air
mattresses out to float on the lake". In the weeks following, I kept getting reminded of how much I'm going to enjoy “going for a float", all the while imagining that one day I
would wake up, strip my bed of its sheets and haul it down
to the lake. As it turns out, she didn't mean the air mattress I slept on, but rather the blow up pool raft I refer to as a
“floaty". Despite feeling rather silly, slowly drifting down the
Kettle River on my... “mattress" was indeed, quite enjoyable. This lightweight Summer cardi would have been perfect to
throw on while eating my post-float sandwich on the beach. Large, airy sleeves make it comfortable and cooling, with a lacy texture that mimics the gentle ripples of the Kettle River.

The Minimalist An artist's mind is usually chaos. It's chaos
being slowly sorted into something beautiful
that flows out of a pen, a paintbrush, or even a
pair of needles. My mind is constantly in search of the next great idea--something more
innovative, extravagant, and impressive. This
style of pointed cowl became my main canvas over the years. It's what I have fallen in love
with, and what I have become known for. But when you make multiple of something, it
becomes a challenge to make each one unique. There's always a push to outperform the last design. This time, rather than adding more
complexities, I decided to take it back to the
basics. Simple stockinette, made special with the halo of brushed suri--the ultimate form of organized chaos.

The Dreamweaver The Dreamweaver is the worsted weight cousin of The Dreamwalker. She features the same delicious double-sided linen stitch pattern as her
predecessor, but with a completely different construction method, a gentler gradient, and a tapered cowl top for a cozy fit. She’s also a quick knit in heavy worsted weight yarn and tucks perfectly under your winter coat!
While the Dreamwalker merely exists and interacts with the dream world, the Dreamweaver creates and controls it. She fills her world with beautiful things that bring her happiness, and won’t let anybody take that away from her.

Madly On Cardigan Mental health is something that has intrigued me since
my teenaged years. I studied psychology in university in an effort to learn more about myself and the people
around me. But while the knowledge I gained changed my perspective and helped me understand my
thoughts, emotions and behaviours, it did not protect me from them.
I had my first existential crisis when I was 5. During the pandemic lockdowns last year, I had another. I
struggled to eat, sleep, and find pleasure in activities I
love--even knitting. I listened to “World Spins Madly On“ by The Weepies and cried daily.
This oversized cardigan was created for those days you just need to be cozy at home, and be okay not being okay. One day soon, I hope for it to become a little
piece of comfort when I step back out to rejoin the world in motion.

Blank Slate I think we've all been hoping this new year would be a fresh start. After one heck of a 2020, there's no way
2021 could be worse...right? As we all learned last year, there's no way to really tell what the year will bring. We can only start off with a blank slate and do our best to fill it with good things.
This tee was made for designers and non-designers alike to get a little creative. The simple feature
rectangle can be filled with anything your heart desires, from a special single skein, to your favourite stitch
pattern, to a fun colourblock or colourwork design. It's a reminder that each day is a blank canvas for you to turn into a beautiful work of art.
“Happiness is not a destination. It is something we need to work towards every day. It is loving yourself; taking
the time and the respect to look after yourself because self-love and self-care is not inherently selfish. It's just
what we need to do to get through every f*cking day."
