WINTER'S WEATHER KNITS 2022 CATALOGUE
SAVASANA CARDIGAN I began creating this design at a time in my life when I was working from home and adopting
poor daily habits. Never having a reason to get dressed or even get out of bed in the morning
really weighed me down and gave me a whole
host of back and neck problems. Getting into a routine of doing daily yoga and ending each
session in Savasana, aka the corpse pose, gave me separation between work and well...not
work. It allowed me to disconnect as I lay on the ground in a meditative state, letting the stress of the work day drift away.
If you want to get real literal, the cable detailing along the front of the cardigan represents the
knots in my neck, while the simple stockinette is the relaxation I aspire to achieve. The split
hem is the divide between work and home, and the pockets are just useful.

HEMLOCK CARDIGAN Estimating yardage for a project is a skill I have not
acquired in my 10 years of knitting. I’ve had my eye on this alpaca yarn from Kensington Prairie Farms for several
years, and finally decided to take the plunge. In an effort to be budget friendly, I planned to make a cute little cropped cardigan. Somehow, I ended up with this.
Name ideas that almost made the cut include: “How To Wear a Blanket to Work“, “I Forgot Alpaca Yarn Grows
Exponentially in the Wash”, and “5 Episodes Later“. I settled on the more professional, “Hemlock Cardigan” because the texture of the stitches and accidental length of the
cardigan reminded me of the trunk of a Hemlock tree. This wardrobe staple has been so well-loved in the office, at dinner parties, and even on cozy days at home.
