I was rather hoping that all the political dialogue might have died down once “the referendum had happened but it seems like politicians will always find something else to talk and argue about. I wonder if we will ever find politicians that actually agree. As George Bernard Shaw once said: “He knows nothing; and he thinks he knows everything. That points clearly to a political career.

PASTORAL LETTER & CHURCH MEETINGS “I will forgive their sin and heal their land”
of all humble people is that they live first for the glory of God.
At this years Keswick in Buckie Tommy Macneil challenged us through a series of sermons looking at the theme of revival. Anyone who was there would have been challenged by Tommy's ministry. I felt challenged again in my own life to ask what does God say about revival in the bible
Secondly, When we look at the life of the early church we very clearly see the priority of prayer in the life of the early church. In fact in Acts we see how prayer is mentioned in every chapter. In acts 2:42 we read of how the early church devoted themselves to prayer. If we as a church want to see God bring revival to the church we must make prayer central in the life of our churches and our life's as individuals. Robert Murray Mcheyne famously commented 'what a man is on his knees before God is who he is and nothing more'.
In 2 Chronicles 7: 14 we read these words ' if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.' So what were the priorities in this culture where God brings revival to the land? The first characteristic we read about is the central place of humility. We also know the saying that pride comes before a fall. But actually scripture goes one step further when it warns us that pride comes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18). Therefore, when our lives as God's people are characterised by humility we do not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought, but think with sober judgment (Romans 12:3) - we neither over estimate ourselves in God's sight or undervalue our lives in God's sight. However, the one aspect
Thirdly, if God is going to bring revival in the church it is important that we learn to seek his face. Here Solomon is warning us the importance of seeking God’s priorities if we are going to see revival come. Jesus also encouraged his followers in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom of God. I sometimes wonder what would happen if the church scrapped all their activities and programs just for one week - and instead used this time to pray for God’s direction. I wonder how many of our churches would change. Fourthly the last priority in a culture which see revival come to the nation

is repentance. Repentance has sadly become a dirty word in society and dare I say it even in the church. We are called in this passage to 'turn from our evil ways'. It is important to acknowledge that repentance is more than acknowledging an error before God. True repentance involves totally changing ones mind and turning and going another way. If revival comes in the church we will all be changed by it - it will be costly. It is crucial to see that after we model these priorities it is then we will hear from heaven and God will 'heal the land’. I have the firm conviction that Scotland's greatest need is not independence, nor to keep part of the United Kingdom. The greatest need is to see people come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Perhaps you can join me in praying that God moves in revival power again in our land.

Words by the Wayside โ Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.โ (Micah 6:13)
Reader, God does not and cannot pass over your sins because He is a Holy and Righteous God; sin cannot dwell with Him. The penalty of your sin must be paid for! Praise God, Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He died for you, in your place as your substitute and you must receive Him as your Saviour if you are to partake of His righteousness before God. Repent of your sins and receive Christ as Saviour. www.wordsbythewayside.co.uk Registered Scottish charity SC041290

PARLIAMENT BLOG & TIDE TIMES With the batteries just about recharged following the hard fought referendum campaign there is the ongoing constituency work that should be the bread and butter of any elected representative. Whether that is campaigns supported by constituents or individual cases it is what makes the office of an MP or MSP tick. I have to confess I am also pleased to have a little bit of space to catch up on some time with family and friends and some reading and music, as social and family life tends to be challenging during campaigns!
Well it’s now several weeks since the referendum and while the result was not what I personally campaigned for what we have seen since is a resurgence in Scottish politics with tens of thousands of people joining political parties. This is an unprecedented time and it is of huge importance that the energy we saw in the Referendum Campaign is not lost but is channelled to improving our communities and getting the best possible deal for Scotland. For someone who has been involved in politics for a good number of years now it is amazing to see this.
