Where would we be without neighbours? In most cases our neighbours can be a source of assistance and support and over a period of time we can develop relationships that really matter to us and are of great benefit. But, like all relationships, trust needs time to build and develop and sometimes it takes a sacrifice or two to help the relationship along. When did we last do this for our own neighbour I wonder?

PASTORAL LETTER & CHURCH MEETINGS O, O, O, how good is the Lord One of the favourite songs that we sing at St. James, often during our time with the young people, has the simple first line, O, O, O, how good is the Lord. It is a simple song that speaks of the providential nature of our God. The longer I am a Christian, the more I am amazed at just how providential he is. For example, did you know that if you scour the pages of the Bible, God makes 365 promises to believers. Precisely one promise for each day of the year, except in a leap year. That is an incredible thing to realise - that throughout the year you can read a different promise from God to help you, sustain you and encourage you in your journey of faith every single day. For example in Matthew 13: 11 we can read:- Jesus answered them, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them.God, through Jesus is saying,
I will show you the mysteries of My Kingdom. In this passage of Scripture, Jesus tells His disciples that it was His Father's plan for them to know the mysteries of the Kingdom. Jesus had just finished telling the crowds the parable of the sower and the seed and then He took the time to explain to His beloved friends the meaning of this story. Jesus did this because it wasn't His intention to keep His disciples in the dark. His desire (and His Father's desire) is always to deepen our level of revelation of the vastness of the kingdom in which we are called to live in. He doesn't want us to be left in the dark because we are called to be children of light! It gives our Father great pleasure to give us His kingdom. (Luke 12:32) In John 5:19-20, Jesus made this statement... 19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by

himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. (NIV) Our God and Father loves to show us what He is up to by the Spirit which He has given us. May each one of us see an increase of revelation into the mysteries of the wonderful Kingdom of God in the coming days and with childlike awe and wonder be totally blown away by our Dad's goodness.

PARLIAMENT BLOG & TIDE TIMES
Parliament Blog Summer has properly arrived and in between MP duties and door knocking in the referendum campaign I’ve managed to get out on the bike at least a couple of times! It’s a great reminder of the amazing region of Scotland that we are lucky enough to live in and getting about on a bike certainly gives you a new perspective, giving you routes you can’t take a car or even just being able to see over hedges and finding something you’d often miss when driving past. Hopefully there will be time and good weather for a bit more cycling.
I was recently out with the family visiting Lossie Forest. I had previously seen small bits of it before but going for a proper walk uncovered some amazing military history in amongst the trees, which delighted my two boys who were excitedly exploring old gun emplacements, tank barriers and pill boxes. It occurred to me that this military history in Moray is not as widely recognised as it should be. It is a unique outdoor classroom for both children and adults to learn about an important aspect of Moray history and I would encourage others to go and have a look and learn about why these installations are where they are and who built them for our protection during the war. Restaurant Review Saturday 31st May. With a warm welcome we were seated in the conservatory where we were treated to the beautiful panoramic view of the golf course and the Moray Firth - a back drop that makes it easy to relax. The menu is varied, catering to all tastes and most dishes are homemade. We started off with the Smoked Haddock Chowder and Wild Mushroom Spring Rolls. Both were masterfully presented and absolutely delicious. The chowder was warming and perfectly balanced while the spring rolls were beautifully crispy with a generous and totally delightful filling. The kids had Sausage, Mash & Peas and Burger & Chips - the empty plates spoke for themselves. Jeff had the Venison Casserole which was hearty and succulent with a herb dumpling topping it off nicely and I chose the lighter option of Chicken & Halloumi salad which hit the spot with the warm chicken & halloumi on a crisp salad bed! We could not let the cheesecake of the day go untested so we shared the Rocky Road special and were

not disappointed! The staff were attentive and on hand to help and clear and chat without being too obtrusive, the atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful and the service was second to none! The bar is amply stocked with all the favourites and also offers the local Windswept Brew on tap and bottled. This is a great place for family meals, nights out with friends, lazy drinks on the beer terrace (weather permitting), functions in the dining room or a coffee in the lounge bar. Come one, come all! 2014, going from strength to strength every year it now reaches a massive milestone on its 40th Anniversary. Big applause must go out to all who have put a helping hand into Hopeman Gala since 1974, whether it be moving tables, putting up tents, sweeping floors, entertaining kids, driving vans, the countless number of cups of teas and pancakes and scones, too many to count! To Gala faithful’s from the villagers to the holidaymaker, day-trippers, with people from Moray and far beyond, come sunshine or rain, this year’s Gala Committee have ensured there is something for everyone while also giving us a nostalgic trip down memory lane! Hopeman 2014 Gala Queen Freya Main and her Princess Jade Rutter will be crowned at the opening Fete on Saturday 19th July at 1.30pm which will be followed by numerous events on in the village during that evening. Every day of the Gala offers something for everyone; the annual favourites are there along with a few new, but which were original, events taken from Galas of years gone by! The wee ones can enjoy the Fancy Dress Parade, Beach Doddle, Tiny Tots Time, Sandcastle Competition, older ones have Skate Park Competitions, Five a side Football, Art Classes, Discos, Fun Dance Classes and this year introducing ‘Daisy Rock’. For the older age groups, the Golf Club and Bowling Club run their Gala Competitions and Families can come together to enjoy the firm favourites, a 70’s Themed Car Treasure Hunt, Family Fun Quiz, Tombola, Variety Show, Harbour Night following an all-day Harbour Festival, and heading back in time to relive ‘Party in the Park’, the ‘Cooper Street, Street Party’ and a 70’s Ruby Night red Themed Disco! BIRO also headlines Finale Night in a return from last year’s Success. Of course, the Gala wouldn’t continue to thrive without the marvellous support given to it by the local community. The tireless work of the Gala Committee is backed by generous donations from local businesses and individuals with services offered at cost price and often donated along with time free of charge. (Matthew 15:32)
He has compassion for us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He that believeth on Him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Christ died for the ungodly. Many waters cannot quench His love, neither can the floods of life drown it.

ROOF WIZARD Roof Wizard is a family run roofing company based at Inverugie just a short distance from Duffus and Hopeman. The company was established by William Stewart more than 20 years ago after serving his apprenticeship in his native town of Stirling. Five years ago William relocated to Moray and the company has gone from strength to strength.
Backed by his son William Jnr, also a Roofer, Roofing Assistant Corrie Flanagan and partner Fiona in the office, William believes in providing a professional, quality service throughout Moray, Nairn, Banffshire and beyond. All too often roofs can be overlooked and forgotten until something goes wrong often leading to expensive and avoidable repairs. William advises: Check your roof and gutters at least once a year and following stormy, windy weather. Check for any loose tiles/slates and check ridges for missing mortar and tiles. Check there are no cracks on chimneys or loose mortar at the base. Check your gutter system isn’t blocked with leaves, nests, weeds or toys. Blocked gutters can lead to leaks and damp patches on internal and external walls. Clear gutters yearly. Check attic spaces for signs of water ingress and dampness. Under no circumstances should anyone go up on a roof. Use binoculars and view from the ground….or better still call Roof Wizard to come out and do a safe, free, no obligation roof check.

INNES HOUSE
Weddings and Corporate Entertainment A Unique place for any Occasion It is difficult to imagine a more romantic setting for your wedding than a 17th century house set in a sheltered walled garden. However, Innes is not just a stunning venue which you and your guests will never forget, but also offers a wholly flexible programme to enable you to plan your day exactly as you would like. Every wedding is unique and tailor-made for each couple. You may hold the ceremony here in the garden or in one of the two beautiful reception rooms. After the service your guests can wander around the gardens whilst you have your photographs taken in these tranquil, romantic surroundings. The reception and dinner may be held in the East Dining Room or larger parties can be held in our marquee extension which covers a walled garden complete with a summer house for the bar and a fountain around which the tables are set. After dinner you may enjoy dancing or other entertainment and then drive away down the tree lined avenue and look back on a magnificent floodlit house. Alternatively, you and some of your guests may stay the night in one of our splendidly appointed bedrooms and leave after a leisurely breakfast the next morning.
“Many venues have a marquee in their garden, but how many have a garden in their marquee…?”

Chef Steve Guyett would like to thank all my customers for the support they have shown the restaurant over the last eight months. It is with sadness that I must announce my departure from the pub, due to differing opinions regarding the food offered. My belief is that the customers have regarded very highly their meals, many returning to eat more than once and others making 50 mile round trips to dine.
This space could have been promoting your business! SpotLight covers six areas along the Moray Firth Coastline from Buckie & Keith across to Inverness and then down to Aviemore - and all the places in between!

The City Break Popular for some years now, particularly for those whose time is very limited, a City Break is an excellent way of getting away for a few days and seeing some interesting and different cultures. The advantage is that you can come and go any day of the week, normally using scheduled flights, with a complete selection of differing hotels. Imagine flying directly to Barcelona, from Edinburgh, staying 3 nights in a smart city hotel full of character on a Bed and Breakfast basis as there are so many restaurants that you would want to try for lunch and dinner. Cities like Barcelona are excellent for walking about, seeing the marinas, waterfront, Las Ramblas shopping street and the Food market. Though no direct flights exist from Scotland, Vienna is another popular destination, with all its imperial splendour, Art Nouveau, waltzes and coffee houses. A grand ring of 19th century palaces surrounds the mediaeval city, with its narrow streets, hospitable inns, cafes and shops. Two sets of customers have recently joined a break to Vienna with a trip to Budapest, using the train to travel from one to the other. Both cities boast much of the 19th century grandeur of the Hapsburg Empire. It's Bela Bartok and Liszt Museums in Budapest as it is the Strauss family in Vienna.
art galleries, concert halls and churches; as a university city it comes alive at night in cellar bars, restaurants and jazz clubs. Like Prague, this city largely escaped destruction during WWII. In Prague only one building was hit during that war, and it is now known as the American Church in honour of its bombers! Athens now has direct flights from Edinburgh. The Acropolis, Temple of Athena & the National Archaeological Museum are all in the city and a trip to The Sacred Site of Delphi to see the Temple of Apollo would provide enough knowledge to get a Gold Star in any school project on Ancient Greece! The Plaka area of Athens with it's maze of narrow streets is perfect for browsing stalls selling pottery, jewellery and marble. Eating out here is mainly outdoors in the Tavernas specialising in Souvlaki (kebab), spanakopita (spinach pie) & Meze (greek tapas) all washed down with some surprisingly good local wine!
There are many suitable Italian cities to visit for a short time and Florence is one of the finest settings of them all. On the banks of the River Arno, Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance and the city of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Giotto, Dante and their patrons the Medici family. When you are there a visit to the Uffizi Gallery and Museum is a must! There are direct flights now from Edinburgh to Krakow, the cultural capital of Poland. Krakow is rich in museums, Information kindly supplied by
