I was brought up to appreciate the values of good Christian living. At the age of 14, before leaving secondary school, I realised that there were wide horizons ahead of me with new interests and pursuits in life to explore. These were drawing me in the wrong direction. On reaching my mid teens, I decided it was time to change course and trust Christ for salvation before it was too late. The untimely deaths of two of my companions made me think seriously about eternity and the inevitability of having to meet God one day. The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again Luke 24:7. The Bible is full of illustrations of people whose lives were dramatically changed. In Luke Ch. 24 we are introduced to disillusioned people, some of whom had visited Jerusalem and had started their journey home to the village of Emmaus, which was about seven miles north west of Jerusalem. Recent happenings were the subject matter of discussion during the journey. Their friend (an innocent man) in whom they trusted had been put to death on a cross. Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. Luke 24;1335. To their amazement, a stranger (as they supposed) joined the company. As He listened to the conversation with interest, He told them that the cause of their sadness and disappointment was that they had failed to recognise and believe that the one who had suffered and died on the cross was now alive for evermore.
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? Luke 24:26. How true it is that so often on the journey of life we find failed relationships, even trivial disappointments, can upset our attitude towards others. However, the big problem in life is the fact that we have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The above incident reveals to us that the stranger who opened their eyes, their understanding and the scriptures, was the one who had dealt with the sin question forever by His death on the cross. He can dispel all doubt and fear and bring us into liberty if we trust in Him and His work of redemption for us on the cross. But they constrained him, saying, “Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And he went in to tarry with them. Luke 24:29. Those two disciples were so overjoyed with the one who had changed their outlook and their destiny for the future, that they invited Him into their home. If we come by faith to God, and trust in Christ for salvation, we will be brought into real spiritual blessing with the knowledge of sin forgiven and the assurance of a home in Heaven. Public Session • Police Constable Kevin skivington and inspector Paul McCruden attended the meeting and explained actions that had been carried out in the Forres area since the last meeting. these included patrols related to deer poaching; a test purchase operation in an off-sales premises, which ensured that the test purchaser failed to obtain alcohol; and patrols to tackle substance misuse in Moray. Motoring speed checks were also carried out during the period, with 14 drivers being reported for speeding and a further 20 being educated. Cllr Hellyer said that he felt the 0845 reporting system was improving but Cllr Hayward said that it had only taken 15 minutes to get a response on sunday morning. Cllr Ferris asked if there was any action contemplated on the increase of shop lifting occuring in the area. • the secretary informed the meeting that, at their request, the town Hall had been booked for a public meeting to enable the public to ask pertinent questions of nHs Grampian about the future of leanchoil Hospital. He said that copies of the notice had been dispatched to all concerned, as well as being distributed in the town to widen the knowledge of and input to the topic. He reminded all that turnout was crucial to the success of getting the message across that we wished to retain our hospital. • Members of the Community Council raised their concerns at the Policy & resources meeting which saw fit to ignore the wishes of the population of Forres in the recent survey carried out by Craigforth on the sale of Bogton to redco Milne. in spite of an overwhelming result against the sale, and the fact that this was the second such result the P & r Committee recommended that a decision be deferred. Moray Cllr ogilvie explained that it had been recommended to them that it may have an effect on the Economic strategy due to be
announced, and funding coming to the area. Cllr lipscomb asked if this meant that he should delay selling his house, in case it affected the funding. His house, and the income derived from its sale was private, as was common good land, and did not concern or affect the local economy. Cllr Mackenzie said that if Kinloss & lossiemouth closed then devolution would go out of the window & would certainly affect the scottish Parliamentary elections. • Cllr Ferris asked why a Jobs Promotion fair, due to be held at the Horizon building had been at short notice transferred to Elgin. it was explained by the Moray Cllrs that this had been done because of the influx of travellers on the Enterprise Park. Secretary’s Report • letters were received from Moray Council; Friends of the Falconer Museum; raF Kinloss and Morrison Construction. • Moray Council roads dept had invited us to comment on the roadside signing Policy for Footways & Verges - Consultation. • the Friends of the Falconer Museum invited the Comm Council, as a corporate supporter, to attend a presentation by roy Dennis, wildlife expert, on March 17th at 7.30pm. • raF Kinloss had extended an invitation to the secretary to attend the annual reception in the officers Mess on the 24th May 2011. the Chair said that he had received an invite to the same function too. • the secretary reminded members that he had circulated a letter from Morrison Construction inviting them to a pre-planning application viewing of the proposed new Health Centre on the 10th of March. He pointed out that the plans indicated an intention to move all the clinics from leanchoil into the new Health Centre. External Groups Report • youth rep ross Kennedy told the meeting that following next months meeting he would be involved in exams and was therefore seeking a replacement youth rep
to take his place on the Community Council. • Cllr Duncan said that 2 american students from Mount Dora would be here in June. • Cllr Mackenzie said that the archives had been transferred from the tolbooth to the Greshop. He said that Moray Council were still delaying a long term lease to the Heritage Group. • Cllr Hayward said that planning applications and the facility to comment and see comments online had still not been actioned by the Moray Council Planning Department. • Moray Cllr ogilvie said that following representations from herself, a place had been found on the transfer of assets seminar for Cllr Mackenzie. it seemed ridiculous that community groups who would be the interested parties in transfer of assets transactions should be prevented from attending. • she reminded everyone about the Wholetown strategy meeting in the Forres academy on March 30th, a MoP pointed out that it was to develop social projects & Cllr Mackenzie said that we needed our toilets manned, that was a community project. • Moray Cllr Creswell said that she was attending the annual General Meeting of the Elgin youth Café. • the Moray Cllrs also said that contact had been arranged for sandra Maclennon, Forres in Bloom, to discuss Grant Park with the council Parks & Gardens. • Moray Cllr Bell read a detailed response to questions raised by Comm Cllr Mclean with reference to the removal of playing field facilities at both thornhill and Bogton. in the absence of Cllr Mclean the secretary agreed to forward a copy of the response to him following the meeting. Treasurer’s Report • the treasurer informed the meeting that our account stood at £1025.69 Date of Next Meeting • thursday 19th May 2011 at 7.30pm

Local electrical appliances retailer JM Younie and Sons (known simply as Younies to most) is fighting hard to remind shoppers of the benefits of staying local when making household purchases. Internet based shops and multinational chains may purport to offer more, but is that the reality? How much time can we spend on comparison websites trawling feedback responses on products we cannot see or touch? Just how much technical advice is available in these big outlets?
ONLY
£299.99 cal e lo ry Freelive d
So what is Younies (and other independent stores like them) doing to combat the big retailers?
ONLY
£329.99 cal e lo ry Freelive d
Firstly - price - it may surprise some that Younies is able to compete very well on price due in large part to its membership of one of the biggest buying groups in Europe. In this way, the large buying power of “the biggies” is matched at the local level. Prices are constantly being reduced as new technology comes on stream.

Younies has a huge product range that would surprise many and has competitive prices to match. If we really want to see a local economic recovery then it is essential that businesses like Younies are able to compete with the big boys. Local businesses are truly the lifeblood of the local community and long may they thrive!
Dimplex
Thirdly - service - and this is where Younies can score really well. From the best in-store independent advice, to delivery and then to fitting an appliance. After sale service is a matter of a quick phone call to a “real” person or a revisit to the store. All of which can often be not so easy with “the biggies”.
Younies stock a huge range of electrical appliances from toasters to radios, fires, vacuum cleaners, kettles, light fittings, tv’s, kitchen white goods and much much more - why not pop in and talk to them! You may well be surprised!
Dyson
Secondly - buying experience - Stores like Younies have years (and we do mean years!) of built up experience in brand performance in electrical goods. Younies know only too well that the success of their business hinges on being able to supply products that will stand the test of time. They well know that a customer will be straight back to them with a faulty product and it is therefore in their interests to get it right first time.

Carpet Cleaning Hints & Tips from the Team at Can-Do Services All the tips are tried and tested and if you need any further help please call the team on the numbers below. We hope that you enjoy the feature and find it useful! Month 3 of our cleaning hints and tips page and this month I thought I would share a tip with you that came from someone just picking up the phone and looking for a bit of advice. Remember advice is FREE so if you have a stubborn little problem feel free to give us a quick call. This month I would like to share with you a tip on the removal of stickers from windows, doors, walls etc. Often it can seem like the glue that is used is impossible to remove. As a rule rather than peeling stickers straight off it is often better to try and soften the sticker itself rather
than having to hack away at the glue that's left. The easiest way to soften the sticker is by using a hot steam iron. Holding the iron about 1-2 cm from the sticker spray liberally with steam this will softened the paper and the glue. Once softened take a paint scraper and carefully scrape the corner loose. This should allow the sticker to peel more easily. If not repeat until softer and easier to peel. Some more stubborn and sticky glue may require careful removal with a paint scraper. Finally using a vinegar based window cleaner remove any excess glue and dry surface thoroughly. For stain removal tips why not visit our new website at www.can-doservices.co.uk and remember advice is FREE so give us a call!

Specially for you! I may never meet you personally, but there is something I want to tell you. It is of such importance that I would be unkind if I didn’t let you know: yet it is so simple that you can read it in a few minutes. It is so vital that it may change your entire future: yet it is available to you at no cost whatever. It is a message that you may not like: yet you will never be able to forget it. And whether you believe it or not, it will affect you in life and in death. First of all let me emphasise that this message is absolutely true, because it is God who said it. When God makes a statement you can afford to accept it, because He cannot lie. When God makes a promise, you can rest upon it, because His promises can never fail. God will not make you believe this message – that is your choice – but He will hold you responsible for having heard it. Then let me tell you that this is a personal message to you. You cannot escape it. It brings you to the place of decision. You must either accept it or reject it. You must either say “I will” or “I will not”. You cannot be neutral. Here, then, is the message. It is an exact quotation from God’s Word, the Holy Bible:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John3:16) Now, did you ever hear such wonderful words as these before? Are they not amazing? Just think for a moment what they say! They reveal three marvellous and thrilling facts.
First, “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD!” since you are in the world, it means that He loved you. If that does not startle you, remember that when God loved you, He loved a sinner, because that is what you are. The bible says that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23), and if you are honest you will agree. Now, although God loves you. He hates your sin. Sins will keep you out of Heaven, because God is holy and He must punish sin. Thus a holy God must find a holy way of saving sinners. Otherwise the sinner must pay for his sins, and that would mean spending eternity in Hell. The second great fact is this: “HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON”. The first statement tells you that God loved you. This statement tells you how much He loved you. He loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son! Do you know what that means? It means that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered on the cross of Calvary so that you might be saved. He shed His blood so that your sins might be put away. He died for you so that you might live in Heaven forever. You see – someone must pay the penalty for sin, either you or a sinless substitute. God gave His Son so that He could be your sinless substitute. And now for the third tremendous fact: “WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE”. What could be more wonderful? Think of it! God gives eternal life to those who believe in Christ. The Saviour has finished the work. He has died, has risen from the grave and gone back into Heaven. Now your part is to believe in Him. This simply means that you should confess that you are a sinner, realise that Christ is willing and able to meet your need, and then receive Him as your Lord and Saviour. This is the message which I had to tell you. Now you must make a decision. Will you accept Him or reject Him? Will you believe on Him or will you refuse Him? Will you bow humbly before Him or will you turn away in pride? I may never meet you upon earth, but I hope I will meet you in Heaven. If you too will accept the sinner’s Saviour, then you will be surely saved. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:35,36)
