Pastoral letter and Church Meetings WI THOUT A T RA CE! Having been brought up not many miles from the coast, I can recall childhood summer days spent on the beaches of Findhorn or Roseisle. I can still remember the “sandy sandwiches, the lukewarm “cold drinks and flask tea. Then there was the spluttering after breathing in a mouthful of salt water, or getting dried using a “sandy towel, but in spite of it all they were good days. The sand wasn’t just a nuisance factor it also provided hours of fun, from “burying dad to building castles complete with water filled moat to writing messages. Every time we left the beach it was obvious that someone had been there, for the perfectly smooth sand now had marks ranging from footprints to remnants of castles. Even if we tried we could not have returned the beach to the way it had been when we arrived. However, return to the beach the next day, not a trace would remain,
washed away by the flowing tide, restored to its natural, undisturbed beauty. In a similar manner, we have spoiled our lives by the wrongs that we have done, or said. God puts it very bluntly and yet simply so that we do not miss His meaning – “All have sinned (Romans 3:23). Notice that He doesn’t say “All have killed or “All have lied, we may not have committed these particular sins, but we have all broken God’s law in one way or another. No matter how hard we try we can never remove these stains, we might be able to hide them from each other, but they remain obvious to God. Like the beach at the end of the day, our lives bear the scars of our sin. If only there was a tide that could eradicate these stains. Read on! There is a tide that can cleanse our sins away: it is the tide of

God's grace and love, brought to us through the Lord Jesus Christ. He died at Calvary so that our sins could be washed away without a trace! While nailed to the cross He endured the judgment of a holy God against sin, the sin that has left its mark on our lives. In a reference to this death the Bible states that "the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1John 1:7) If you are willing to acknowledge to God that you alone are responsible for the sin that has stained your life and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on account of that very sin, you will receive this cleansing. There is not a sin, either too great or too small, that this “tide cannot remove. Ains lie Paterson Evangelist Caroline Street Gos pel Hall

Parliament Blog & Tides “ Parliament Blog
A huge thank you to all the Kiltwalkers that set out from Buckie and Fochabers heading to Aberlour and raising a huge amount of money for some fantastic children's charities. I had the pleasure of sending the walkers off from Buckie and Richard Lochhead set them off on their way from Fochabers.
At the time of writing I am dusting off the bike and preparing to take part in the Whisky Trail Sportive 2012, which is a cycling challenge to raise funds for North East Sensory Services. With three routes - 80 miles, 40 miles and a 10 mile family friendly route, it is an opportunity for all abilities of cyclists to get out and about.
It was a great day out with hundreds taking part and raising funds and having some fun along the way, meeting friends old and new. It looks to be a fantastic fundraising fixture in Moray's calendar and has the potential to go from being huge to absolutely massive! Well done to everyone involved in both organising and participating. Great job!
By the time Spotlight goes to press I will either be thinking I'm fitter than I thought or lying in a painful heap having been beaten to the finish by the children. Clearly that can't be allowed to happen....back to training it is then....

Forres Energy Recovery Centre
Public Exhibition Proposed Energy Recovery Centre
We are holding a public exhibition to inform the local community about our proposals for a Clean Power Energy Recovery Centre on disused former railway land north of Forres railway station, shown above. We’d like to let you know more about our plans and answer any questions you may have before we submit a planning application.
CONTACT US We would like to hear your views - all feedback will be carefully reviewed prior to the submission of a planning application to Moray Council. Please come along to our exhibition and tell us what you think, or you can write to us at: Freepost RSBX-ARER-CTYA Forres Consultation, Your Shout, Room E409, Westminster Business Square London SE11 5JH Email: forresenergy@yourshout.org www.cleanpowerproperties.com Freephone: 0800 458 6976 Text us: 07797 806357 From a mobile: 020 7587 3049
EXHIBITION TO BE HELD AT Friday 3rd August: 12pm - 8pm Saturday 4th August: 10am - 4pm Forres House Community Centre, High Street, Forres, Moray IV36 1BU Proposals will be on display and members of the project team available to answer any questions you may have - we look forward to meeting you there.
Your comments and queries will be analysed by Your Shout on behalf of Clean Power Properties Ltd. Copies may be made available to the local planning authority so that it can note your comments. We will, however, request that your personal details are not placed on the public record. Clean Power Proper es Ltd
An energy recovery solution Even though households and companies have cut their waste by modest amounts in recent years, we still as a nation produce well over 20 million tonnes a year. The old ways of dealing with waste are to bury, burn, or dump it. We believe that in the 21st century the UK needs to develop a better renewable alternative. Clean Power Properties Ltd is developing a number of Energy Recovery Centres on brownfield sites across the UK, helping to implement a Zero Waste approach which is cleaner and renewable. It will protect the countryside from landfill while the surplus energy produced in the process can be fed into the local energy network and surplus heat can be used for local homes and businesses.
Low level design, with short chimney stacks
Landfill: a growing problem
LOCAL BENEFITS G Local Source of Renewable Power
This energy recovery centre will produce renewable energy for around 8,000 homes. The energy will be supplied to the local energy network. G District Heating Opportunity
This centre will create a renewable source of heat at low cost that can be connected to by new homes, existing housing and other local amenities. G Sources Waste Locally
This energy recovery centre should meet the waste disposal requirements of the local region and avoid the expensive long distance transport of waste.
alternative to landfill or incinerators, Clean Power Properties can save the council money to spend on other services or keep the council tax down.
G Avoids the need for Landfill
Most waste is now sent to landfill where it decays and produces methane gas. Many landfill sites are nearly full, and landfill is both environmentally wasteful and creates significant environmental impacts. This energy recovery centre provides an alternative to landfill. It recovers all usable materials and then uses advanced conversion technology and anaerobic digestion to produce a cleaned gas that can be used to create renewable energy.
G Creation of Skilled Employment
G Does not rely on incineration to treat waste
This centre will provide employment for up to 30 people, a majority of which will be skilled engineering, technician and operator roles.
Clean Power energy recovery centres are not incineration sites, they recover all usable recyclable materials and use advanced conversion and anaerobic digestion technologies to transform the remaining matter into a cleaned gas. They have a far lower environmental impact than other more traditional waste disposal methods, produce energy that is certified as ‘renewable’ and create a number of reusable and recyclable products. All of our processes are carried out in sealed buildings to ensure that there are no potential odour issues.
G Creation of an Education Centre
This centre will include provision for local schools and communities to learn about, and experience, renewable energy first hand. G Saving the Council Money
Your council currently pays ever increasing amounts of money to dispose of wastes. By providing a viable

Dreaming of... Malta – Something for everyone
Rich in history, crystal clear seas and brilliant blue skies means that Malta and her Islands have something to offer most travellers. The fact that there is so much history and so many historical sites on the Island, never fails to amaze its visitors. Small but perfectly formed, Malta is only 17 miles by 8 miles, but whether you want the rich history of the country, snorkel and dive or simply relax, Malta has it all. With summer temperatures reaching over 30 degrees and winter temperatures rarely dipping below 15 degrees, you can holiday all year round with some great long stay deals to be had in the cooler months. A highlight is the Blue Grotto which is one of the islands gems, a series of natural caves and only accessible by boat you will be taken into caves where translucent waters are truly blue, giving the grotto its name. Visit the Mosta Dome which can be seen towering over the capital city of Valletta. Built by the Knights of St John, Valletta is rich in history and architectural treasures. It also makes a great city break. Another must is Mdina (say as M-Dina). The silent city is medieval and was the former capital. A fortified relic, it is reminiscent of an era which has long since disappeared. 20 Minutes by ferry is Malta’s sister island of Gozo. A typical Mediterranean island, it is a world apart from Malta. Greener and more fertile than Malta, the Gozitans live life at their own pace but now share their island with visitors to the selection of hotels from budget to luxury spa – or even a farmhouse for an authentic experience. If you can’t spare a week here try it as a two centre with Malta or it can be done in a day and use the hop on hop off bus travelling around the island or take your hire car over on the ferry !

recipe
Chef’s Confidential Churros Spanish style doughnuts Our head chef has brought together a passion for cooking and influences from around the world to create a unique and eclectic dining experience based on sharing a selection of small dishes complemented only with good wine and good company … 1 cup water 2 tbsp brown sugar ½ tsp salt 1/3 cup butter 1 cup plain white flour 2 eggs ½ tsp vanilla extract 1/4 cup caster sugar ½ tsp ground cinnamon cooking oil for deep frying method 1. Place water, butter, salt and vanilla extract in a pan and bring to the boil. 2. When boiling add sieved flour and brown sugar to the pan and stir over heat until mixture leaves the side of the pan and then leave to cool. 3. Add the eggs to the cool mixture and beat well until smooth. 4. Blend cinnamon and caster sugar together and leave to one side. 5. Place mix in a piping bag with star nozzle, heat oil and pipe 10 cms strips into hot oil. Remove after 5 – 10 mins once they have turned brown. 6. Coat in the cinnamon sugar and enjoy! They should be soft and custard like in the middle and crisp outside. For a touch of luxury we serve with Scottish berries and chocolate fondue.
