month, I tempted fate The Editor Last by suggesting that Summer might have arrived. Well - on the day I am writing this, temperatures in Kinloss have reached 27 degrees! Warmer than Barcelona I am told. I am sure that these temperatures will not hold but maybe - let us hope - it is a sign of a warmer than average Summer Season. A Poem (1st verse) by John Clare: Now swarthy Summer, by rude health embrowned, Precedence takes of rosy fingered Spring; And laughing Joy, with wild flowers prank’d, and crown’d, A wild and giddy thing, And Health robust, from every care unbound, Come on the zephyr’s wing, And cheer the toiling clown.

PASTORAL LETTER & CHURCH MEETINGS God remembers “God will not forget your work and the love you have shown” Hebrews 6:10 James Sizoo said, Glamour isn’t greatness, applause isn’t fame, prominence isn’t eminence. The man of the hour isn’t apt to be the man of the ages. A stone may sparkle but that doesn’t make it a diamond. People may have money but that doesn’t make them a success. It’s the seemingly unimportant people who determine the outcome of life. The greatest forces in all the universe are never spectacular. Summer showers do more good than hurricanes but they don’t get a lot of publicity. The world would soon die but for the fidelity, loyalty, creativity and commitment of those whose names are not mentioned or honoured and are unsung heroes. As they say, you may not think you
count for much in God’s Kingdom, or even this world, because you do not have certain qualities that others do like preaching, teaching or leading a public life. How wrong can you be! Listen: “God will not forget your work and the love you have shown as you help His people” The bible says, “People look at the outside… the Lord looks on the inside” (1Samuel 16:7) God sees what is on the inside and sees behind the scenes, the caring of the sick or aged loved ones, raising a family, encouraging others and contributing where you can. Will Rogers once said, “We can’t all be heroes, somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.” So what we have to do is remember - we know the truth. When you think you’re too small to do big things or feel that you are an unsung hero, try doing smaller things but in a bigger way. Give it more heart and believe in greater things.

As Marcus Borge once said, “The mind is the most powerful thing in all the universe.” So we have to put our minds to it. Do not get discouraged and give up, ”for you will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time”. (Galatians 6:9) As they say, ‘little things are often more important than larger things’. Besides, as the Lord says, “Whoever can be trusted with a little can be trusted with a lot” (Luke 15:10) The thing is, are you handling the little things as much as you are handling the big things in life?

INNES HOUSE
Weddings and Corporate Entertainment A Unique place for any Occasion It is difficult to imagine a more romantic setting for your wedding than a 17th century house set in a sheltered walled garden. However, Innes is not just a stunning venue which you and your guests will never forget, but also offers a wholly flexible programme to enable you to plan your day exactly as you would like. Every wedding is unique and tailor-made for each couple. You may hold the ceremony here in the garden or in one of the two beautiful reception rooms. After the service your guests can wander around the gardens whilst you have your photographs taken in these tranquil, romantic surroundings. The reception and dinner may be held in the East Dining Room or larger parties can be held in our marquee extension which covers a walled garden complete with a summer house for the bar and a fountain around which the tables are set. After dinner you may enjoy dancing or other entertainment and then drive away down the tree lined avenue and look back on a magnificent floodlit house. Alternatively, you and some of your guests may stay the night in one of our splendidly appointed bedrooms and leave after a leisurely breakfast the next morning.
Offer extended! Any couple booking their wedding within six months of their wedding date, will be offered complimentary wedding night accommodation along with a 'Champagne Toast' upgrade of their chosen drinks package

PARLIAMENT BLOG & TIDE TIMES This is a beautiful place and we have long enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as a world class tourist destination but, for good or bad, the days when mystery and undiscovered gems would draw people to explore the area with limited information are long gone. These days visitors have a wealth of choice and, powered by the Internet, have access to thousands of possibilities. They want to know, in advance, what they can do and, most importantly want to get here with the minimum of fuss. That's why, after nearly 19 years absence I'm delighted that British Airways are re-establishing a daily link between Inverness and Heathrow. Around 90% of international visitors to Scotland arrive by air, over a third through Heathrow, so the potential of the link is very good news for tourism and business. By the time you read this flights will have already commenced and more visitors will be experiencing our unique attractions as a result.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award I recently had the great pleasure of welcoming home Duke of Edinburgh participants after two days of activities in celebration of the origins of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which originated from an idea that started at Gordonstoun right here in Moray. The ‘Moray Badge’ was introduced by the founder of Gordonstoun and participants came from around Moray, including the Duke of Edinburgh himself while he attended Gordonstoun. The Duke of Edinburgh then subsequently sponsored the expansion of the scheme with it becoming the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award! Moray can be very proud of being the origin of what is now a highly successful and internationally recognised scheme. The day involved DofE participants from right across Moray and it was fantastic to see so many gaining the broad range of experiences that the Award Scheme offers and which will serve them well for the future.

UK FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR RUNNER UP
2013
No Weeds At All in the Lawn – is this Possible ? In almost all cases, yes. It’s one of the more straightforward goals to achieve. You may have heard the expression; “weeds are just wild flowers in the wrong place”. Most gardens have lots of garden flowers for most of the year, often carefully chosen, and providing plenty colour, and scent for us to enjoy, and lots of essential pollen for the bees and other insects. Uncontrolled weeds on a lawn are generally less welcome, and not really necessary. After a few years, the lawn resembles a cabbage patch, and you don’t know where to begin! Weeds emerge in spring, flower, then usually disperse seeds into the ground during the summer, which generally overwinter, then emerge in the spring as new weeds, and so on...To clear the lawn, you need to break the cycle, apply a weedkill in spring while the early arrivals (eg daisies and dandelions) are growing vigorously, and before they get to the seeding stage. There are late developers though, who will miss this treatment (eg clover and buttercup). So you need to apply a 2nd weedkill in early summer. If you are too late, the seed will get to ground, and be safely stored to emerge next spring as a new crop – project failed! There are of course also, the immigrant weeds, those which blow into a garden lawn on the wind, or arrive in droppings from birds flying over. These tend to be in relatively insignificant numbers. The real weed production is from re-supply from your existing stock. All you need to do is break the cycle, and you will bankrupt the stock. We are weedkilling all our customers lawns pretty intensively for the next couple of months.

Moray Walking Festival 16-26 June 2016 Explore Moray this Midsummer - from Thursday 16 to Sunday 26 June 2016, the newly named Moray Walking & Outdoor Festival has activities for all walks of life! Over 10 days you can see Moray from a different view; from the top of a hill at midnight, jumping off a cliff, from an open canoe, painting a coastline or tasting tea made from your wild view! This year our guest speaker is Alan Rowan, the Midnight Mountaineer. When Alan Rowan finished his shifts as a sub-editor at a national newspaper, he knew he was too jacked up on deadline adrenaline to attempt sleep. He was starting to worry if he would ever complete his ambition to reach the summit of every Munro . He decided upon a single solution to both problems. He would begin his ascents in the middle of the night! You can also join Alan on a Midnight walk up Ben Rinnes with former RAF mountain rescue team leader David “Heavy Whalley.
Book your event before the 1st June and get 15% OFF in Cotswold Outdoor stores and online. Telephone: 07764615517

THE ALL NEW VAUXHALL ASTRA
THE NEW ASTRA HAS STOLEN THE SHOW AGAIN CROWNED EUROPEAN CAR OF THE YEAR 2016 AND AWARDED SCOTTISH CAR OF THE YEAR!
Sharp lines, athletic sculpting and the striking curve of the ‘floating’ roof – the design of the new Astra captures the dynamic potential within. Premium interior and distinctive wheels further enhance its overall appeal. Together with innovative driver-assistance systems, the new Astra provides a safer, stress-free driving experience. IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights adjust automatically, so you can drive on high beam without disturbing other drivers. Multi-adjustable ergonomic AGR front seats and the Power Driver’s Seat in leather with massage and ventilation (both seats optional with the new Astra) enhance your well-being. The new Astra’s numerous wellness features add a little luxury to everyday driving. The all-new Astra offers a powertrain portfolio of petrol and diesel units ranging from 100PS to 200PS, one of the highlights being our 1.6 CDTi ‘Whisper Diesel’ range. You might also be tempted by the 1.0 ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo (105PS) petrol engine, or our all-new 1.4-litre (150PS) ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo, a four-cylinder unit. Making its debut in the new Astra, is the new-generation IntelliLink infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and with a 7-inch colour touchscreen and Bluetooth connectivity as standard. Apple CarPlay puts key iPhone features on the vehicle’s display, allowing drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music, either from the touchscreen or by voice, via Siri. The new Astra is the first new Vauxhall model to be available from launch with Vauxhall personal connectivity and service assistant, OnStar. OnStar offers many services, such as in-car access to an

advisor 24/7 and 365 days a year and emergency assistance. You can also take advantage of a 4G in-car wi-fi hotspot, which can connect up to seven devices simultaneously. No-bake White Chocolate Velvet Pie Oreo Pie Crust Recipe: Ingredients: 24 Oreos 57g melted unsalted butter Preparation: In a medium-sized bowl or a food processor, add the Oreos and blend until they are the texture of coarse meal or crumbs. Add the melted butter and blend until well combined. Press mixture into a 9 or 10-inch deep-dish pie pan onto the bottom and up the sides evenly. Try to make the crust about 1 cm evenly all around. Refrigerate the crust for at least an hour before you add the filling. This will help prevent crumbling when you want to serve it. White Chocolate Velvet Pie Recipe: Ingredients: 250g white chocolate chips 250g cream cheese, room temperature 1 tsp vanilla extract 250ml heavy whipping cream Instructions: In a microwave safe dish, place white chocolate chips. Heat on high in microwave for 1 minute. Remove from microwave and stir until chips are completely melted, heating an additional 15 seconds if needed. Let cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, beat whipping cream with hand mixer on medium speed until peaks form and hold shape, being careful not to over beat. Set aside. Combine melted white chocolate chips, cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in whipped cream. Once fully incorporated, spoon mixture into Oreo crust. Refrigerate 2-3 hours before serving.

eview R Kristoffs ‘
Kristoff's is located in Tollbooth Street, Forres, very handy for the mother and daughter evening I had planned as a reward for my teenage daughter having revised hard during the Easter Break.
On our arrival we were shown to a booth, given our menus and the Specials on offer were run through by the friendly waitress. Whilst we looked at the Menu, our Drinks order was taken and brought promptly, along with a jug of fresh water. For Starters I had a Prawn, Crayfish and Smoked Salmon cocktail with a Marie-Rose sauce, served with a crispy roll and my daughter had a Beef Fillet medallion on French toast, topped with a garlic mushroom and Gruyere cheese. In a word – delicious. Given the variety of main courses, it was a difficult choice for me, but I finally settled on the Hungarian Style Potato Rosti with Beef Goulash, topped with peppers, cheddar cheese and sour cream. The beef simply melted in your mouth and the flavours were wonderful. A vegetarian option is available – a nice touch. As you might expect from a teenager, the prospect of building your own burger was too tempting and so a platter bearing a brioche bun filled with a large burger, cheddar cheese and chorizo was brought to the table, accompanied by rustic chips, salad and tomato chutney. Enough said. Finally the desserts – I plumped for Sticky Toffee pudding and custard, with my daughter opting for Stew'n'Drew's ice cream served on toasted banana bread with fresh fruit and Chantilly cream. Gorgeous! Kristoff himself served up the main courses to all the tables, giving him the opportunity to check that all was to everyone's satisfaction. The two waitresses coped well with a busy restaurant, with no-one being left to wait and tables were cleared efficiently. The restaurant is warm and cosy, the staff friendly and the food of a very high standard. I highly recommend Kristoff's and will be heading back as soon as I can find an excuse, that's if I need one.
