Reader, our hearts are desperately wicked, we are all sinners by nature and by practice, separated from God, and we will not escape the damnation of Hell without the Saviour which is Christ the Lord. All have sinned and all fall short of God’s righteousness and we cannot save ourselves. Jesus Christ died on Calvary’s Cross for your sin and rose again from the dead three days later by the mighty power of God, and He is the Christian’s Righteousness. Are you righteous before God? Have you received Jesus Christ as your Saviour? Are you a Christian?

Pastoral Le er & Church Meetings "Behold! I am making all things new" Revelation 21:5 [NRSV]
August is a month when for many people things are new: new schools, preparing to leave home to go to university or college, preparing to enter the world of work at the end of school or after graduating, and some people come back from their holidays seeing their lives differently, thinking anew about their priorities. For those entering a period of change, what does Holy Scripture say to them? This world is not the final form of life, God promises us a "'New Jerusalem' coming down out of heaven from God" (Revelation 21:2 & 10 [NRSV]), the old order will be replaced with the new and God comes to earth with the following results: · God dwells with all mortals and wipes away all tears · Death is banished, along with mourning · All things are made new as
the former things pass away · God declares his work done (Revelation 21:3-6 [NRSV]) This seventh and final vision recorded in the Book of Revelation is the end point of the biblical story, and has been pointed to throughout the Bible from Isaiah, through Romans and by Jesus in St Matthew's Gospel. Isaiah tells us that "The Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces" (25:8), that "God is about to create new heavens and a new earth" (65:17); Ezekiel proclaims that God pronounced that "My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" (37:27)St Paul in writing to the Romans assures his readers that "Creation itself will be set free from its bondage and decay" (8:21), and St Matthew in his Gospel records Jesus as telling his disciples "Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man is seated on the throne of his glory, …will inherit eternal life" (Matthew 19: 28 & 29 [NRSV])'.

This vision and the passages which point to the end of time are enormously significant because they tell us that God has a purpose for the world and that purpose is good, however much we may spoil things. God desires to be in contact with his creation and especially with the human race he created in his own image, God promises to be with us at the end of time and that the promises shown forth in the earthly life and ministry of Jesus Christ will be fulfilled at the end of time. This is truly stupendous news: that the God of staggering power, glory and holiness deems it good to dwell with mortals like us, we are told that God will win the Faith of the faithful, or they will find God encamped in their midst, and above all God is compassionate, wiping away tears. This is truly Good News for all mankind.

Parliament Blog As Parliament has now gone into summer recess, I am looking forward to spending more time back in Moray and meeting with constituents. Reflecting after completing my first year as the local MP, it has undoubtedly been a very busy time. I held 75 surgeries at locations all across Moray meeting with local people and giving them the opportunity to bring their cases and problems to me, which I have done my best to assist them with. During this recess, I will be once again be getting out on the road and visiting as many places as I can across the area. Moray is vast and varied constituency and I’m aiming to get out to all corners of it this summer and I’m really looking forward to meeting you all. Please feel free if I am in your town or village to stop by and say hello.
The Raigmore Parking Campaign has been overwhelmed by the positive responses and the continued support we have received since the campaign launched in May 2018. Those who have engaged with the campaign so far have shown that there are many viable solutions to the hospital’s parking woes. However, more information will be needed before NHS Highland can choose the way forward. NHS Highland’s traffic report provides an insight into how staff use the car park and to get a fuller picture we need more information on how patients and hospital visitors use the car park. That is why the Raigmore Parking Campaign is calling on NHS Highland to launch another traffic survey for patients and hospital visitors so we can find a solution that works for all.

I regularly see first hand the great work our community & third sector groups do across the Highlands. One challenge they often come up against is the matter of funding, and it is something they often raise when I meet them. It is vital these organisations secure the funding they need and it is often difficult to keep up to date with all the different funds that could help. I am delighted to be able to host my second funding fayre that will bring together some of the many organisations offering funding prospects with community & third sector groups in the constituency. I look forward to welcoming organisations like the Big Lottery Fund, Age Scotland, Creative Scotland and many others to Inverness Town House on 7th of September from 12pm. If you are from a community or third sector group, I would encourage you to come along and find out what funding opportunities may be available to you. Further information about this event and my regular constituency surgeries can be found on my website: www.drewhendrymp.scot

How to Get Rid of Course Grasses in the Lawn - Need a Lawn Makeover ? I am prompted to mention this now as this spring saw an emergence of course grasses in many lawns, more so than usual. What are course grasses ? They are “wild” grasses, as opposed to “lawn” grasses, typically pale in colour, a thicker, course looking leaf, and often seem to grow in clumps in the lawn. They are seeded by other course grasses already in the lawn, or can be blown in from neighbouring land, or even deposited in bird droppings. They were prevalent this spring as lawn grasses were slow to start growing because May and June saw drought conditions. Course grasses tend to tolerate and keep growing in these conditions, whereas lawn grasses don’t, so the wild stuff seems to dominate. You can help prevent them spreading by mowing regularly. Also, if you give the lawn a quick swish with a spring rake prior to mowing, you will lift the long stems, which can then be mown off before they produce seed.
They are not weeds, so a lawn weedkiller wont clear them. If there are just a few clumps, you can dig out a square of turf (like a carpet tile) and put it in the bin. You can replace with a patch of turf, or seed with lawn grass. If there is a major infestation, that’s not realistic, and you might just have to get used to it, unless you are prepared to replace the lawn with a new one. We do a Lawn Makeover which is much cheaper than re-turfing see www.greenthumb.co.uk. It involves completely killing the existing lawn with a total herbicide, then re-seeding and top-dressing with a clean mix of new lawn grasses. Get in touch if you would like a free estimate.
There is a good factsheet provided by the Royal Horticultural Society. If you search for www.rhs/coursegrasses, it should take you straight there.
For more information about seasonal lawn improvements from just £11.25 per mth, plus useful downloads and photos, go to www.greenthumb.co.uk. Although GreenThumb is a national franchise with over 200 branches across the UK, we are locally based in Nairnshire and cover the whole Moray Firth area.
