Review the
highlander inn craigellachie
The Highlander Inn is located in Craigellachie, which is only a 15 minute drive from Elgin on the A941. When we arrived we went downstairs into the lounge bar and were shown to our seats. It was so cosy and from the minute we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. My friend Marie and I were immediately offered a drink and handed the menus. The owner, Tatsuya, mentioned that there was also an Ă la carte menu in the restaurant upstairs, but we chose to eat downstairs in the lounge bar. One of the first things we noticed was how many different whiskies were available. They have one of the largest selections of Japanese whiskies available outside South East Asia, and a good selection of malt whiskies from other parts of the world as well! I would definitely recommend the Highlander Inn to any whisky lovers. For starters Marie had the Chicken Liver Pate with Red Currant Preserve and Garlic Bread and I had the Tempura Chicken with Sweet Chili Sauce - both were just bursting with flavors. There was a large choice of mains to choose from. I had the Steak Pie with Chipped Potatoes and Market Vegetables and Marie went with the Creamy Lasagne with Wedged Fries and Side Salad. Perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth, the mains were both bursting with flavors and deliciously succulent and hit all the right spots. We were both too full to have a dessert so decided to share one. We decided on the Toffee Romanoff which is Toffee Meringue and Whipped Cream served with Honeycomb Ice Cream and Fresh Strawberries. This was a delicious dessert and we regretted not having one each as we were both left wanting more. The Highlander Inn has an amazing menu which will cover all tastes. It offers fine dining and good hearty bar food so it really will suit all. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and you are made to feel like a VIP. Tatsyua works behind the bar serving food and drinks and makes sure his customers are happy and have everything they need. The chef, who only started a couple of months ago, certainly knows how to cook good food and all the meat is bought locally from McIntosh Butchers in Dufftown. I would highly recommend the Highlander Inn and will most certainly be going back for another meal in the near future. A review by Susan & Lisa December 15

was reminded recently The Editor Iabout the value of life.
Life is indeed precious and when we know someone who dies the reality of death can hit us hard. People say that death and taxes are the two things that we can rely on without fear of contradiction! We cannot understimate the pain and sadness associated with death but if it prompts us to live for the day and live life to the full then that is no bad thing. We should be joining that group or club that we have been thinking about. Let’s not delay - engage with our community and let’s go to that club/group!

PASTORAL LETTER & CHURCH MEETINGS Dear friends, I may call you friend, can’t I? That does not offend? Good. Because in living out the command of Jesus to ‘Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ (John 13:34) That makes us friends in my mind. Because we love our friends, even the hard to like ones or the ones that are different from us. This loving is hard in a society that tells us that number one comes first, that winning is all; that ‘them’ over there are a threat and we need to look out for our own before others. And yet it should be so simple. Treating others the way we would want to be treated should make this loving thing so much easier. A cause that is close to my heart at the moment is the plight of the refugees in Europe. My heart breaks each time I watch a news report that tells us of yet more deaths of innocent people desperately trying to get away
from a situation that is so awful they cannot safely stay in their own country. Men, women and children losing their lives daily.
reminding them of the ancient scripture of Isaiah. Instead he carried on loving and caring for those he encountered.
In the weeks and months to come we will be welcoming refugee families into our communities as part of the Syrian Vulnerable Person Scheme. Loving our neighbour will take on a new form as we welcome new people. These new people are among the most vulnerable refugees. Their stories will be difficult to hear and to comprehend. But our Christian response should be simple: love. If we love our new friends then we will help them flourish once more. We have nothing to fear from our new neighbours and a huge amount to learn from them.
The world needs love. Not just the kind that we will celebrate on the 14th of this month, but a love that reaches out and cares and cares and cares. And keeps on caring.
Jesus accepted everyone - he turned the world order on its head by caring for those that society spurned. His own people rejected him (Luke 4:28cff) when they didn’t like his teaching. When what he was really doing was

This month we also enter that part of the year we call Lent. A time when Christians focus on the life of Christ and approach the darkness of His death on Good Friday before celebrating His resurrection on Easter Sunday the greatest and grandest gesture of love the world has ever known. God loved us so much he gave us his only son. So loving our new friends and neighbours should be a walk in the park by comparison… Yours in love, Rev Shuna Dicks Aberlour Parish Church

PARLIAMENT BLOG As your MP, being accessible to you is a priority for me. In addition to traditional weekly surgeries I also go on the road with my mobile surgery, after all nobody should be disadvantaged by way of their location. Although these surgeries are always busy, most constituents choose to contact me through email and my website. At the touch of a button people can let me know about issues affecting them and their communities. Increasingly technology provides a convenient link between me and the constituents I serve, particularly as I have to spend a lot of time in Westminster. It is a trend across many relationships; be it communications between business and supplier, pupil and teacher or patient and doctors – we are all part of a growing digital economy. However, as things go ‘Digital by Default’ we must remember that for the 5.9 million who have never used the internet, digital communication isn’t a choice - it’s not even an option. Drew Hendry MP
Scotland has made great progress in tourism. The quality of our accommodation, food and drink and visitor attractions has increased immeasurably. One area we need to do more is accessible tourism: providing for those with a disability. In the UK, 11 million people have some form of disability. Some use a wheelchair, others have impaired sight or hearing. Many travel with carers. A variety of different needs and an enormous market. That also includes providing respite to people with long term disabilities and their carers - "respitality." Princess Anne has advocated this as a great opportunity. Visit Scotland provide a free training tool kit and advice on access statements. Have a look at their website. With much effort and common purpose, we could become known as the country offering the warmest welcome and the most practical support to people with a disability. Scotland, the accessible tourism destination.

INNES HOUSE
Weddings and Corporate Entertainment A Unique place for any Occasion It is difficult to imagine a more romantic setting for your wedding than a 17th century house set in a sheltered walled garden. However, Innes is not just a stunning venue which you and your guests will never forget, but also offers a wholly flexible programme to enable you to plan your day exactly as you would like. Every wedding is unique and tailor-made for each couple. You may hold the ceremony here in the garden or in one of the two beautiful reception rooms. After dinner you may enjoy dancing or other entertainment and then drive away down the tree lined avenue and look back on a magnificent floodlit house. Alternatively, you and some of your guests may stay the night in one of our splendidly appointed bedrooms and leave after a leisurely breakfast the next morning.
