Falling prices of gas also make gas gensets attractive generally, as the project economics of gas improve.
To create fusion ignition, NIF’s laser energy is converted into x-rays inside the hohlraum – a hollow, cylinder-shaped device which is used to focus and control radiation. The rays then compress a fuel capsule until it implodes, creating a high temperature, high pressure plasma.

Collaboration with JERA Americas to develop battery storage projects
Zenobē, a leading battery storage specialist, has announced it will join forces with JERA Americas, the US subsidiary of JERA, the largest power generation company in Japan, to develop battery storage projects in New York and New England.
The collaboration is a key milestone in securing clean power for the regions and marks Zenobē’s first move into the US, representing a significant step in its plans for further global expansion.
Zenobē and JERA Americas, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will see them jointly develop utility-scale, grid-connected, standalone and hybrid battery storage projects in both New York and New England to facilitate the uptake of renewables in these major US hubs.
The venture is founded on the shared vision for clean, reliable, and affordable power networks across the world.
JERA is a global leader in power, recently announcing a joint venture with Uniper to accelerate the production and supply of zero-carbon fuels from the US.
The company has recently acquired thermal power generating facilities at two sites in the Northeast US which they intend to use to enable renewable energy development. The two businesses will look to identify other opportunities across the US, where JERA Americas is already developing projects.
MITSUBISHI PROVIDE 25MWH BESS FOR CO-LOCATED SITES IN CHILE
Innergex has awarded Mitsubishi Power the order for its Emerald storage solution and the projects are expected to come online in 2023. Emerald is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) based BESS product with a duration of up to six hours, although the two projects ordered will only be able to discharge for five hours. The projects will be co-located with existing solar PV facilities operated by Innergex and will provide load shifting capabilities, storing the solar energy during the day and dispatching it at night.
The 68MW Salvador solar PV facility will add 50MW/250MWh of storage while the 50.6MW Andrés site will add 35MW/175MWh of capacity. Innergex acquired the Salvador and Andrés sites in March 2020 and January 2022 respectively.
The BESS will receive capacity payments and trade energy on the wholesale energy, or ‘merchant’, market. They will also provide grid resiliency for Chile’s transmission and distribution infrastructure.
A total of US$128.5 million will be invested into the two BESS facilities. The company will be among the first to operate co-located solar and storage projects in Chile, as well as Innergex’s first BESS projects in Chile and Mitsubishi Power’s first in South America. The country is aiming for 80% clean electricity by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Mitsubishi Power Americas’ senior VP for energy storage Tom Cornell commented: “We feel the storage market broadend out into many more regions in 2022, having been dominated by a handful of US states last year, mainly California. The company has more than 1.7GWh of utility-scale BESS projects in deployment across the globe.
“We are excited to bring our technology to South America and grow our business beyond North America. The coupling of renewables and Mitsubishi Power’s Emerald storage solutions are enabling a better, smarter and more resilient energy future for our customers in Chile and around the globe.”
Michel Letellier, president and chief executive officer of Innergex, added: “The combination of hydro, wind, solar and battery energy storage systems enables Innergex to meet customer needs at any time of the day and offer 24/7 energy supply to industrial customers through its portfolio of projects.
“In addition, the capacity payments for energy storage enable these projects to benefit from stable and predictable revenues to which are added the revenues derived from the merchant market, making these projects viable.”
Mitsubishi Power is also bringing its own energy management system (EMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) platform along with the delivery of the bricks-and-mortar BESS. Its Emerald Integrated Plant Controller provides real-time BESS operation and a monitoring/supervisory control platform.
Chile is set to hold another big auction for renewables and energy storage, which will contract 5,250GWh per annum for 15 years to support the government’s decarbonisation plans.
The U.S. power grid is comprised of several energy sources from fossil fuels to nuclear energy to renewable energy sources. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) balance the various power sources to keep energy flowing seamlessly to customers.
In an energy configuration, the batteries are used to inject a steady amount of power into the grid for an extended amount of time. This application has a low inverter-to-battery ratio and would typically be used for addressing such issues as the California “Duck Curve,” in which power demand changes occur over a period of up to several hours; or shifting curtailed PV production to later in the day. BESS projects are increasing in popularity due to the fluctuating power supply from renewable energy power sources. In its simplest form, BESS is a technique for energy storage and subsequent reinjection back into the grid, or as backup power to a connected load demand source. BESS systems provide voltage support for the transmission grid (e.g., when the actual grid voltage differs from the stated voltage).

Independent Power Producer (IPP) Innergex Renewable Energy has ordered two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from Mitsubishi Power Americas for co-located sites in Chile, South America.
U.S. battery storage capacity will increase significantly by 2025
Developers and power plant owners report operating and planned capacity additions, including battery storage, to the through EIA electric generator surveys. Battery storage capacity in the United States was negligible prior to 2020, when electricity storage capacity began growing rapidly.
As of October 2022, 7.8 GW of utility-scale battery storage was operating in the United States; developers and power plant operators expect to be using 1.4 GW more battery capacity by the end of the year. From 2023 to 2025, they expect to add another 20.8 GW of battery storage capacity.
The remarkable growth in U.S. battery storage capacity is outpacing even the early growth of the country’s utility-scale solar capacity. U.S. solar capacity began expanding in 2010 and grew from less than 1.0 GW in 2010 to 13.7 GW in 2015. In comparison, the EIA expects battery storage to increase from 1.5 GW in 2020 to 30.0 GW in 2025. Much like solar power, growth in battery storage would change the U.S. electric generating portfolio.
$10 million in Federal funding to commercialize clean energy
Quidnet Energy has been selected to receive $10 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).
The funding is part of the ARPA-E Seeding Critical Advances for Leading Energy technologies with Untapped Potential (SCALEUP) program, which provides further funding to previous ARPA-E teams that have been determined to be feasible for widespread deployment and commercialization domestically. SCALEUP selectees demonstrate a viable path to commercial deployment and the ability to attract private sector investments.
“We’re honored that ARPA-E has selected Quidnet Energy as an awardee of the SCALEUP program,” said Joe Zhou, CEO of Quidnet Energy.
[Above] Developers and power plant owners plan to significantly increase utility-scale battery storage capacity in the United States over the next three years, reaching 30.0 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 2025, based on the latest Preliminary Monthly Electric Generator Inventory .
Battery storage adds stability to variable energy sources such as wind and solar. Wind and solar are both intermittent resources; they can only provide electricity when the wind is blowing or when sunshine is available. Batteries solve the intermittency problem by storing extra energy produced by wind or solar generators for use later.
More than 75% of the 20.8 GW of utility-scale battery capacity that owners and operators reported that they plan to install from 2022 to 2025 is located in Texas (7.9 GW) and California (7.6 GW).
The large amount of existing and planned solar and wind capacity in California and Texas present a growing need for battery storage. More utility-scale solar capacity is located in California than in any other state, 16.8 GW, and developers expect to add another 7.7 GW between 2023 and 2025. A total of 10.5 GW of utility-scale solar capacity is located in Texas; developers plan to install another 20.4 GW between 2023 and 2025. In addition, 37.2 GW of wind capacity is located in Texas, more than in any other state, and developers expect to add an additional 5.3 GW over the next three years.
As more battery capacity becomes available to the U.S. grid, battery storage projects are becoming increasingly larger in capacity. Before 2020, the largest U.S. battery storage project was 40 MW. The 250 MW Gateway Energy Storage System in California, which began operating in 2020, marked the beginning of large-scale battery storage installation. At present, the 409 MW Manatee Energy Storage in Florida is the largest operating battery storage project in the country. Developers have scheduled more than 23 large-scale battery projects, ranging from 250 MW to 650 MW, to be deployed by 2025.

Ways2H Inc., a global supplier of renewable hydrogen systems, and VALECOM, a Caribbean ecological and energy solutions provider, today announced they have signed a letter of intent to transform up to 9,000 tons of Martinican waste into renewable hydrogen every year. This first project between the two companies will focus on hydrogen production for power generation in the island, with possible applications for clean mobility solutions including municipal buses in the future.
Martinique is emblematic of the challenges facing many island nations today, which are increasingly a model for circular economies under pressure to utilize not only their resources, but their waste. In Martinique, one of the largest waste streams is the plastic bags used to protect the island’s main export product – bananas. The island uses 3,000 tons of these plastic films every year, which cannot be reused, making it an ideal feedstock for Ways2H’s waste-to-hydrogen process.
“At COP21 we laid out a plan for several projects that would help Caribbean islands, like Martinique, to be more resilient and we consider this project with Ways2H as the next step in that vision”, said VALECOM CEO, Dominique Regis. “This modular and multi-flow project in Martinique will set up one or more of Ways2H’s waste-to-energy units and we intend to replicate it in other Caribbean Islands.”
Under the partnership, Ways2H will initially process 24 tons of mixed commercial waste, including plastics and furniture, per day, with an additional 8 tons per day once the infrastructure is fully operational after an 18 months construction period.
With waste-to-hydrogen sites underway in Japan, France, Scotland, and the U.S., Ways2H has positioned itself as an early pioneer in the renewable hydrogen sector. Its modular reactors sit onsite, recycling all types of waste – from agricultural, to plastics, sewage sludge, MSW and other refuse –in a carbon-neutral process that converts the waste into a gas and extracts pure hydrogen. The top applications of Ways2H’s process are currently fuel for fuel-cell vehicles and power generators. “What we’re seeing in Martinique is not unique to what we’re seeing across the world: local, often rural, economies that are struggling to manage increasingly diverse waste streams, heightened energy costs and job losses,” said Ways2H CEO Jean-Louis Kindler. “As we approach COP26, we see our work here, and in our projects around the world, as a critical blueprint for circular economy creation and we thank our partners like VALECOM as we work towards this mutual goal.”
Ways2H’s solutions turn the world’s worst waste into carbon-negative renewable hydrogen for mobility fuel and power generation.
The growing volumes of trash and unrecyclable plastic that are causing problems around the world can be upcycled to produce a major portion of the world’s clean energy resources. Countries around the world are increasingly looking for opportunities to increase the use of hydrogen for transportation, power generation, energy storage and other uses. In the meantime, the waste industry is looking for solutions to replace landfills and incinerators.
Ways2H’s global team has several decades experience in the waste processing and renewable energy production sector. Its team is committed to identifying, developing and commercializing turnkey systems or technology bricks that contribute solutions to the global $400 billion+ solid waste management market and the rapidly growing hydrogen economy, estimated to reach $2.5 trillion by 2050. Thge company is working throughout the waste to energy value chain, from waste transformation to energy generation, including key components such as carbon sequestration. Ways2H says it is committed to helping improve the global environment. It sees an urgent need for clean hydrogen to replace fossil fuels for mobility, power generation and industrial applications, and we are convinced that carbon-negative renewable hydrogen will play a major role in powering many of the applications we currently use fossils fuels for.
So-called Green Hydrogen, hydrogen produced via electrolysis powered by renewable electricity, is a much-needed carbon neutral pathway. A company spokesman comments: “We believe we can do better, and leave renewable electricity for its conventional uses, feeding a truly 100% renewable power grid and helping power increasing world demand.”
Greenland to get its own $35m waste-to-energy facility
Babcock & Wilcox has been contracted to provide and install combustion, boiler and feeder systems for a pair of municipal waste-to-energy facilities in Greenland.
B&W Renewables was awarded the $35 million-plus contract by ESANI A/S, Greenland’s national waste management company. The facilities will be built near the cities of Nuuk and Sisimiut and provide district heating for residents and businesses.
Utilizing waste from existing landfills and convert it to energy reduce net methane emissions by a considerable degree. Climate experts say that methane is multiple times more harmful as a greenhouse gas than carbon emissions, according to reports.
“Waste-to-energy technologies are some of the most effective solutions for combatting climate change by reducing methane emissions from landfills and can be combined with carbon capture technologies to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Jimmy Morgan, B&W Chief Operating Officer.
“Using B&W Renewable’s proven waste-to-energy and environmental technologies, operators can generate clean energy while
reducing the amount of trash in landfills, protecting the air and water from emissions and runoff, and fighting climate change.
B&W Renewable’s technology also provides a fully sustainable solution, now and in the future, to process municipal waste while helping to protect Greenland’s pristine and fragile arctic environment.”
Landfill gas (LFG) is a natural byproduct of the decomposition of organic material in landfills. LFG is composed of roughly 50 percent methane (the primary component of natural gas), 50 percent carbon dioxide (CO2) and a small amount of non-methane organic compounds.
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas 28 to 36 times more effective than CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 100-year period. Municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills are the third-largest source of human-related methane emissions in the United States, accounting for approximately 14.5 percent of these emissions in 2020.
The methane emissions from MSW landfills in 2020 were approximately equivalent to the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from about 20.3 million passenger vehicles driven for one year or the CO2 emissions from nearly 11.9 million homes.

Battery recyling plant is awarded more than $105 million in tax incentives
A major lithium battery recycling plant has been awarded more than $105 million in tax incentives for expanding operations in northern Nevada. The state Office of Economic Development recently approved incentives for Carson City-based Redwood Materials. It marks the second-largest capital investment in the office’s history, behind Tesla.
Founded by a former Tesla executive, Redwood has promised to invest more than $1 billion in its expansion plans, with the goal of boosting the transition from fossil fuels to lithium batteries more quickly by localizing the supply chain.
Redwood recovers 95% of the metals from batteries, including lithium, and manufactures battery components. The company has said it wants to keep what it calls a tight supply chain circle in Nevada. “This investment in Nevada is an affirmation of the importance our state plays in the global lithium industry economy,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said in a statement, adding that the state expects a $5.6 billion return on the investment.
Redwood Materials is said to be transforming the battery supply chain by offering large-scale sources of domestic anode and cathode materials produced from an increasing number of used lithium-ion batteries.
Redwood Materials has developed a lithium-ion battery recycling technology which generates highconcentration lithium composites (lithium concentrates) which are further leached to extract lithium compounds that can be returned to the supply chain, particularly battery grade materials.
Energy leaders focused on developing low-carbon economies in Arizona, the Navajo Nation and Nevada have joined forces to develop a regional clean hydrogen hub in the Southwest.
The Center for an Arizona CarbonNeutral Economy (AzCaNE), housed within the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory and first introduced in May 2022, is collaborating with partners in the aforementioned areas to launch the Southwest Clean Hydrogen Innovation Network, or SHINe.
Once fully operational, SHINe will help support the U.S. Department of Energy’s vision for a regional clean hydrogen hub that provides clean energy for hard-to-abate carbon emissions in the transportation, industrial and electricity sectors. I
On November 7th, as its first step in developing the hub, SHINe submitted a concept paper to seek federal funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for key clean hydrogen-focused initiatives, including production, processing, storage, delivery systems, community benefits and other enabling infrastructure.
Once fully operational, SHINe will help support the DOE’s vision of a regional clean hydrogen hub that provides clean energy for the
hard-to-abate carbon emissions in the transportation, industrial and electricity sectors while maintaining a reliable and resilient electric grid.
SHINe will also work to create economic development opportunities in the region.
“A regional clean hydrogen hub focuses on developing a network of hydrogen producers, consumers and local connective infrastructure,” said Ellen Stechel, AzCaNE’s executive director.
“The SHINe network includes salt cavern storage, heavy-duty transportation and distribution technologies that will help accelerate the use of clean hydrogen as a source of low-carbon energy powering the economy.”
In September 2022, the DOE announced that up to $7 billion is available to fund the development of six to 10 U.S.-based regional clean hydrogen hubs.
Regional clean hydrogen hubs funding was outlined as part of President Joe Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, otherwise known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which authorized up to $8 billion for at least four regional clean hydrogen hubs. These hubs are meant to help communities across the country benefit from clean hydrogen.

TWO 2MW BIOGAS GENERATORS FOR SANTA CATARINA LANDFILL
Municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills are the thirdlargest human-generated source of methane emissions in the Americas, releasing an estimated 94.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent (MMTCO2e) to the atmosphere in 2020 alone. Brazil is using the waste gas to generate power for grid use.
At a key landfill site in Itajaí, a city located in the state of Santa Catarina, two ECOMAX® 12 generators have been installed by AB Grupo SRL, providing a power supply of more than 2MW.
The plant is fuelled by biogas from the landfill, which goes through a process of dehumidification and compression, in addition to the SILEX system, which is the AB solution which removes not only siloxanes, but also other harmful components of biogas.
The operation and maintenance of the biogas plant for energy generation is carried out by AB’s highly-qualified technical team which is providing preventive and corrective maintenance, allowing the plant ‘to operate with excellent availability’, says the company.
The ECOMAX LANDFILL line is a technical solution for transforming waste into a renewable energy source.
With the ECOMAX® Landfill Gas line, AB offers a series of solutions to transform the controlled storage of waste into electrical and thermal energy, to be used directly on site or to be transferred to the network.
A renewable energy source is provided by the waste stored in landfills which feeds the cogeneration plants.
Thanks to a calorific value that averages between 3.5 and 5.0 kWh / Nm³, landfill gas is in fact a good fuel for internal combustion engines.
The resulting energy efficiency represents a significant competitive advantage for the company that decides to use this technology.
In fact, in the average life of a landfill, one million tons of waste can produce 1.7 to 2.5 million m³ of methane.
The ECOMAX® Landfill Gas line is widely regarded as a good example to study for all companies seeking to use this type of renewable energy - and there is a modular range of plants availble ith power from 300 kW to 1,500 kW.
AB’s multidisciplinary teams have designed the ECOMAX NEXT® Landfill Gas based on the combination of specialist know-how and the industrial development of the product: a compact, versatile and modular landfill gas cogeneration solution, at the forefront of energy efficiency.
The system offers the following benefits: *Easy configuration, which meets the needs of all markets;
*Ease of transport and installation;
*Time and risk optimization in the installation and commissioning phase;
*and Interconnection with existing plant systems and Availability of service assistance even in difficult situations.

oil contamination and the deterioration of pistons and cylinder heads, forcing continuous maintenance work to the plant.
SILEX removes the harmful components from the biogas before it reaches the engine, thus minimizing maintenance operations, improving operation and reducing downtime.
The plant thus works longer, producing more electricity, consuming less oil and optimizing the availability of biogas.
Using landfill gas has become especially popular in Brazil since 2018 when the country’s Ministry of Mines and Energy published a notice announcing that landfill gas-based fuels would be eligible to comply with the requirements of RenovaBio, the country’s official national biofuels policy.
RenovaBio aims to increase the use of all biofuels, including ethanol, biodiesel and biomethane, in Brazil with the aim of increasing energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
A statement released by the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy explained that the RenovaBio law provides for the establishment of national emissions reduction targets for the nation’s fuel supply.
RenovaBio creates a system that allow for the certification of biofuels. The Ministry of Mines and Energy has said the objective of the certification is to measure the exact contribution of each biofuel producer to greenhouse gas emissions reductions, in relation to their fossil substitute.
The law also creates a decarbonization credit that combines the emissions reduction targets and the live cycle assessment of each biofuel producer.

TEXAS APPROVAL TO BUILD A 1.2GW CCGT
Entergy has been approved to build a 1.2 GW CCGT plant which will run on hydrogen gas. The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved Entergy’s proposal to build the Orange County Advanced Power Station, a 1,215 MW combined cycle plant, reports APN.
The authorities in Texas have given their goahead to Entergy - it wants to build a 1.2 GW CCGT plant which will run on hydrogen gas. The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved Entergy’s proposal to build the Orange County Advanced Power Station, a 1,215 MW combined cycle plant which will be located near Bridge City.
Based in one of the largest industrial regions in the country, the plant would have the initial capability to use up to 30% hydrogen by volume along with natural gas to generate power.
Entergy Texas President and CEO Eliecer Viamontes said the ability to use hydrogen as an additional fuel source will provide reliability to Texans if the delivery of natural gas is constrained, such as during 2021’s Winter Storm Uri.
Mitsubishi Power, which is supplying two M501JAC gas turbines, says the plant would eventually burn up to 100% hydrogen.
Hydrogen produces zero carbon emissions when combusted as a fuel source for electric generation. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2023, with the plant in service by summer 2026.
The new CCGT plant will have cutting-edge high-capacity gas turbines for 60 Hz power generation incorporating state-of-the-art technologies
The Mitsubishi J Series gas turbines are an
integration of the proven G Series and elemental technologies for temperature increase as a result of the Japanese national project for the development of 1,700°C class gas turbines.
They operate at a turbine inlet temperature of 1,600°C. The M501JAC Series gas turbines adopt air cooling for combustors instead of steam cooling. With a performance equivalent to the M501J Series gas turbines, they produce a high level of operability including a shorter start-up time.
The gas turbine unit is based on the basic structure adopted in the early 1970s that has accumulated a track record of at least 40 years.
Its main features are as follows:
- A compressor shaft end drive reduces the effect of thermal expansion on alignment
-A rotor with simple single-shaft two-bearing support
-A rotor structure has bolt-connected discs with the torque pins in the compressor section and CURVIC couplings in the turbine section to ensure stable torque transmission
-An axial flow exhaust structure advantageous in combined cycle plant layouts
-Horizontally split casings that facilitate field removal of the blades with the rotor in place.
Advanced three-dimensional design techniques are used to improve performance while reducing the shockwave loss in the initial stages and frictional loss in the intermediate and

final stages. The inlet guide vanes and variable stationary vanes at the first three stages are controlled to ensure stable operation at the start-up and enhanced performance at partial load in combined cycle operation.
The J Series combustor is based on the steam cooling system proven with the G Series. An improved fuel nozzle is used to help produce a more homogeneous mixture of fuel and air. Despite the rise in turbine inlet temperature, the combustor attains NOx emission concentration equivalent to that of the G Series.
Incorporating air-cooled combustors, the JAC series adds operational flexibility by eliminating any need for steam cooling from the bottoming cycle.
The turbine inlet temperature is 100°C higher than that of the G Series.
However, the application of high performance cooling technologies developed in a Japanese national project for the development of 1,700°C class gas turbines and advanced thermal barrier coating (TBC) helps to maintain the metal temperature of the turbine blades at the level of conventional gas turbines.
This proposed combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant for Bridge City is essentially an electrical power plant in which a gas turbine and a steam turbine are used in combination to achieve greater efficiency than would be possible independently.
The hydrogen gas fuelled turbine drives an electrical generator while the gas turbine exhaust is used to produce steam in an HX, called a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), to supply a steam turbine whose output provides the means to generate more electricity. If the steam were used for heat then the plant would be referred to as a cogeneration plant.

jobs for highly skilled workers in Coweta County.
FREYR has purchased the land for development of Giga America at the Bridgeport Industrial Park site in Coweta County, GA.
The industrial zoned tract covers 368 acres with options secured for further expansion.
The site was selected for Giga America through a rigorous evaluation process based on key operational, logistical, and financial criteria.
The Giga America site already offers substantial room for additional upstream and downstream development projects to further strengthen an anticipated strong cost position and improve the carbon footprint of the batteries produced.
The development of Giga America positions FREYR to meet the rapidly growing customer demand for Energy Storage Systems applications with US-based conditional offtake partners.
FREYR is seeing very strong interest for increased volume commitments through ongoing
customer dialogues.
FREYR is accelerating its previously planned U.S. expansion based on strong tailwinds in U.S. renewable energy development, an intensifying focus on grid stability initiatives, and the recently announced tax incentives associated with the Inflation Reduction Act.
Projected U.S. demand is being augmented further by increased interest from existing and new customer dialogues in the commercial mobility and electric vehicle segments.
FREYR is intensifying and broadening its financing efforts to support the expected capital commitments for the Giga America project in parallel with the ongoing construction of Giga Arctic in Mo i Rana, Norway. It is also involved with the evaluation of potential upstream and downstream modules in the Nordic region and the US.
The State of Georgia and Coweta County are collectively providing strong financial incentives for the Giga America project.
FREYR furthermore intends to apply with the U.S. Department of Energy for packages that could potentially include a grant and/or direct loan to assist with the development and possible acceleration of the project.
FREYR is evaluating clean power supply solutions for Giga America with utility providers in the region, including the potential development of a dedicated solar plus storage facility.
Giga America will leverage the 24M’s SemiSolidTM platform, which simplifies the production process of lithium-ion batteries significantly, enabling highly capital, labor, and energy efficient manufacturing at scale based on US.technology originating from MIT.
FREYR’s project team in the US intends to replicate the major elements of the Giga Arctic development, which will also be based on the 24M production platform, by maintaining a continuous technical dialogue with the company’s key personnel in Norway.
The company originally selected the Bridgeport Industrial Park site through a rigorous evaluation process based on key operational, logistical, and financial criteria, including the suitability of the site to co-locate modular upstream and downstream projects with the Giga America cell manufacturing facility.
