TWO 100KVA DIESEL GENSETS FOR A MAJOR GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL IN ABU DHABI

Two 1100KVA Bahmani NGT1100 diesel gensets specially designed for standby applications were recently supplied by the Bahmani Group to one of the key government hospitals in Abu Dhabi.

The sets are now providing vital backup power for the facility in case of a mains power failure in the local grid. Producing reliable power at 1100 kVA, 50 Hz, each NGT 1100 GC diesel generator set is built to meet ISO 85285 transient response requirements and to accept 100% rated load in one step; this generator set type also offers a low fuel consumption system and accepts:

- 100% Block Load and a demonstrated capability to pick up large onsite loads

-Full Power up to 50°C Ambient - provides full power even on hottest days of the year

- Conforms to ISO8528-5 G3 Load Acceptance and maintains voltage and frequency during transient events

The NGT genset is equipped with DSE controller (DSE7320), made in the UK by one of the world’s top manufacturers. An advanced and user-friendly controller, it helps to maintain the set’s low fuel consumption, saving on fuel spend. Its compact and rugged design also saves on transport and storage cost

Each genset is powered by a PERKINS 4008-TAG2. The 8-cylinder option in the 4000 Series, the 4008 range engines can be supplied with cooling systems for either tropical or temperate. Economical and durable, the engines give the user excellent power-to-weight ratios, outstanding load acceptance and improved gas emissions. The range’s diesel ElectropaK engines/ Electro Units deliver 1000-1250 kVA and are supplied with or without radiator and air cleaner. This engine has proven reliability in prime and standby installations in all of the key sectors, such as manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and data centres. The 4008 engines have exceptional power-to-weight ratios and compact designs, making them simple to transport and install.

The Perkins 4000 Series provide top levels of performance and reliability for both standby and prime electricity generation.

The series aims to meet the demands of customers for power generation and it has become a true leader at this size, says the manufacturer.

The 4000 series includes 6, 8, 12 and 16-cylinder diesel engines which cover a wide range of power outputs. The generator output of this range is 750-2500 kVA, with outputs which can be achieved at a wide range of temperatures.

The 4008TAG2A diesel engine is currently manufactured in Stafford, UK. The Perkins build list for this engine model begins DGBH.

The 4008TAG2A can only run at the 50Hz configuration, however it is still a very capable and all-round engine. The engine includes a turbocharger with an air-to-air charge cooler and requires 153 litres of oil for lubrication, 162 litres of coolant for the water cooling system and has a total displacement of 30.561L.

Handling power between 730 - 1000 kVA, all products in the TAL series are manufactured to Leroy-Somer high quality standards and are built with class H insulation materials.

4008TAG2A is 1,321 horsepower (985 kWm) at 1500 RPM. The engine can be used at Prime (PRP), Standby (ESP) and Continuous (COP) ratings in a diesel generator therefore it will cover most power requirements.

The Perkins 4008TAG2A fuel consumption depends on its load. At 1500 rpm prime power it is has the following fuel consumption (percentage of prime power): bahmanigroup.com www.nidec.com

At 50% it uses 111 litres/hr; at 75% it uses 162 litres/hr; at prime power it uses 215 litres/hr and at standby power it uses 240 litres/hr.

This Perkins Diesel Engine has dimensions of 3852mm (151.7”) Long, 2046mm (80.5”) Wide and 2067mm (81.3”) high.

The cylinders have dimensions of 160mm for the bore and 190mm for the stroke. The (dry) mass of the engine is 4270kg (these measurements are for the temperate cooling, see spec sheet for tropical cooling dimensions).
