TWO 70 KVA GENSETS SUPPLIED TO A MAJOR CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN NIGERIA
Two 70 kVA diesel generators with John Deere engines and Nidec alternators have been supplied via a Ghaddar sister company in Lagos, Nigeria. Genbrite Nigeria Ltd has successfully supplied and installed John Deere Generators for a major construction company specialised in construction and maintenance of ports and waterways. Ghaddar John Deere generators are designed to withstand high humidity and harsh climate conditions of costal sites. The installed generators were equipped with John Deere 4045TF158R engines and new TAL044B NIDEC | Leroy Somer alternators. John Deere provides diesel engines for generator drives and thousands of other applications around the world. They are the most reliable and fuel-efficient engines possible to the off-highway OEM market, reports the manufacturer. Industrial Engines: Horsepower Range 36-505 hp (27-377 kW). John Deere was one of the first engine manufacturers to certify 75-to-174-hp diesel engines as compliant with EPA Interim Tier 4, EU Stage III B, and CARB emissions regulations. The engine features a water-cooled radiator with belt-driven blower fan and full guarding. Other elements include an electric starter with solenoid relay, a battery charging alternator. The set is energized to run a solenoid. There are eplaceable fuel and oil air filters. The engine includes a heavy-duty leads acid battery with marching capacity (AMPS & CCA). There is one loose supplied industrial exhaust silencer – 16DB noise reduction level. There is also an integral Fuel Tank with 117-litre capacity. The engine/alternator assembly rest on skid and Anti-vibration mounting pads. The skid is made up of durable sheet metals and beams exceeding “Vibration & Tourism” Resistance norms. The control panel enclosure is made up of metal sheet. Gensets are assembled in full compliance with ISO 8528-8 standard Control Panel Specifications are as follows: the GMP260MK (DSE610 MKII) panel is an automatic start generating set panel of microprocessor-based design which is capable of interfacing with electronic engine through the can-bus J1939. The engine has a dynamicallybalanced crankshaft, forged-steel connecting rods, a self-adjusting poly-vee fan drive and replaceable wet-type cylinder liners. The two gensets Ghaddar supplied to Nigeria also incorporate TAL044B NIDEC | Leroy Somer/ Low Voltage Alternator. This is alternator is a 4-pole threephase 70 to 200 kVA - 50 Hz / 88 to 250 kVA - 60 Hz alternator. This is a dedicated single-phase 57 to 82 kVA - 50 Hz / 80 to 125 kVA - 60 Hz unit. The NIDEC | Leroy-Somer TAL 044 alternator range has been designed to offer users the best power generation performances. With its meticulous design and optimized architecture, the TAL 044 is said to strike the perfect balance between compactness, reliability, performance and longevity, says the manufacturer. The NIDEC | Nidec Leroy-Somer TAL 044 alternator meets all key international standards and regulations, including IEC 60034, NEMA MG 1.32-33, ISO 8528-3, CSA C22.2 n°100-14 and UL 1446 (UL 1004 on request). The alternators are also compliant with IEC 61000-6-2, IEC 61000-6-3, IEC 61000-6-4, VDE 0875G, VDE 0875N and EN 55011, group 1 class A for European zone. The NIDEC | Leroy-Somer TAL 044 alternator can be integrated in EC marked generator set, and bears EC, EAC and CMIM markings. It is designed, manufactured and marketed in an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality assurance environment. In terms of performance it offers *Class H insulation * Shunt excitation * Low voltage winding: - Three-phase 50 Hz: 220V - 240V and 380V - 415V (440V) 60 Hz: 208V - 240V and 380V - 480V - Single-phase 50 Hz: 230V (60 Hz: 240V) * 4-terminal plates in 6-wire version * Optimised performance. The alternator is well-suited to perform in the climate extremes ofgfered by Nigeria. It has a compact and rugged assembly designed to withstand engine vibrations. It has a steel frame. Other special features include: * Aluminum flanges and shields * Single-bearing design compatible with most diesel engines * Greased for life bearings * Direction of rotation: clockwise and counterclockwise without derating. Protected to IP23 the alternator range has its winding 8 optimised for three-phase 380V / 416V - 60Hz. The models offers options such as reinforced winding protection for harsh environments and relative humidity greater than 95% (system 2 - 4). This model comes with complete winding protection for non-harsh environment with relative humidity ≤ 95%. Thanks to its Terminal box design it offers easy access to AVR and terminals and the possibility of current transformer for parallel operation.
