PUBLISHER'S CORNER LET'S PARTY WITH A PURPOSE! On behalf of myself and the entire Wire Magazine team, I want to welcome you to the 33rd annual White Party Week in Miami and Miami Beach. This week, we bring you our annual White Party Week special issue with a preview of all the festivities to come, so you can plan ahead and enjoy all the parties, DJs and live entertainment brought to you by Care Resource in association with URGE Miami. For the second year in a row, my friends Luis Morera, Billy Kemp and Hilton Wolman of URGE Miami bring their expertise and experience producing some of the best parties and events for the LGBTQ community to the production of White Party Week 2017. For our White Party Week cover story, I sat down with Luis Morera to discuss what he, Billy, Hilton and their URGE Miami team have in store for us this year. I also interviewed DJ Cajjmere Wray, who will be DJing at this year's Muscle Beach party; international recording artist Anton Ewald, who will perform live at the Beach party; and DJ Joe Gauthreaux, who will spin at the White Splash Pool Party. Everyone was eager to share with us what to expect for the upcoming parties and their respective DJ sets and performances. Join us to party with a purpose amongst friends while raising money for Care Resource, South Florida's largest and oldest HIV/AIDS service organization. While we come together as a community during White Party Week to party with a purpose, it is very important to remember that HIV/AIDS remains a clear and present danger. This week, I also wrote a feature story about World AIDS Day 2017, which will be celebrated around the globe on December 1, 2017. This solemn day will commemorate every one of the millions of people around the world who have died from an AIDS-related illness. It will also reaffirm the ongoing commitment by millions of world citizens to help those living with or at risk for HIV and to acknowledge all the progress made on prevention and treatment. Let's come together as world citizens on World AIDS Day to help end this deadly disease and its ongoing threat to our community. Also in this issue, in Health & Wellness, specialist Michael Bertonatti dishes on the seven most powerful benefits of using an infrared sauna on a weekly basis to rid your body of harmful toxins; and in Rafa's Picks I recommend the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon coming to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Paramore's Tour Two concert at The Fillmore Miami Beach, and Katy Perry's Witness: The Tour concert at the AmericanAirlines Arena. I look forward to seeing everyone on the dance floor during this year's White Party Week 2017. Have a wonderful time and remember to be safe! Happy Thanksgiving,

WORLD AIDS DAY 2017
THE MISSION: LET'S END IT! orld AIDS Day 2017 will be celebrated around the globe on December 1, 2017. This is a solemn day to honor all the lives lost around the world to this life-threatening disease, and to commemorate every one of the millions of people who have died from an AIDS-related illness. It is also a day to reaffirm the ongoing commitment by millions of world citizens to help those living with or at risk for HIV, and to acknowledge all the progress made on prevention and treatment. World AIDS Day was founded in 1988, and it was the first ever global health day.
I want to share with you some important statistics from HIV.gov about the realities of HIV in the United States and our community: • More than 1.1 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV today, and 1 in 7 of them don't know it. • Gay and bisexual men, particularly young African-American gay and bisexual men, are most affected. • In 2015, gay and bisexual men accounted for 82% (26,375) of HIV diagnoses among males and 67% of all diagnoses. • Gay and bisexual men were the only group that did not experience an overall decline in annual HIV infections from 2008 to 2014. • Annual infections remained stable at about 26,000 per year among gay and bisexual men overall and about 10,000 infections per year among black gay and bisexual men. • Concerning trends emerged among gay and bisexual males of certain ages and ethnicities, with annual infections increasing: 35% among 25 to 34-year-old gay and bisexual males (from 7,200 to 9,700) and 20% among Latino gay and bisexual males (from 6,100 to 7,300). 8 WIREMAG.COM #45 2017

The theme of World AIDS Day 2017 is "Increasing Impact Through Transparency, Accountability, and Partnerships." Millions of people have helped fight HIV. The mission now is to help end it. Even though the HIV virus was identified in 1984, to date over 35 million people have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS – making this one of the most deadly pandemics the world has ever seen. The good news is that major scientific advances have been made on the treatment and prevention of HIV, there are laws in many countries around the world protecting people living with the virus; and we have a much better understanding about HIV/AIDS, how to protect ourselves, and how to live a healthy, happy and productive life with the disease.
These statistics remind us that the threat of HIV is a real and present danger. Marking World AIDS Day every December 1 is crucial to remind all of us, and governments and institutions the world over, that the HIV virus has not been eradicated and is still a serious health threat – especially amongst gay men in our community. Raising millions of dollars to find a cure and develop better treatments, continued awareness about the disease, and effective prevention campaigns are all a must to end HIV/AIDS. We can all be part of the mission to eradicate the disease. Use the hashtag #WAD2017 on social media for everything about World AIDS Day.

THE BENEFITS OF
INFRARED SAUNAS
s you may know, sweating is a great way to burn calories and rid your body of unwanted toxins. But how do you sweat when you're injured and/or unable to exercise? Infrared saunas help your body release toxins, like heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and environmental chemicals.
1. Detoxification Sweating is one of the body's most natural ways to remove toxins, making it a crucial part of detoxification. Here is what I found to be the most powerful seven benefits of using a sauna on a weekly basis:
30-minute infrared sauna session could burn roughly 300-400 calories. 6. Improved Circulation & Exercise Recovery Time As the heat from infrared saunas increases your core body temperature, your circulation will increase along with it. Consistent infrared sauna sessions, especially in the middle-infrared level, can stimulate blood flow, improve muscle recovery, and decrease pain and inflammation after intense exercise. 7. Skin Purification Infrared sauna technology can help purify your skin by eliminating toxins from your pores and increasing circulation, resulting in clearer, softer, and healthier-looking skin. My Recommendations If you're new to infrared saunas, I would recommend starting out with 5 minute sessions at 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit and slowly work your way up to 15-30 minute sessions at least three to four days a week. If an infrared sauna is not available to you, but you happen to have access to a regular sauna, you can still achieve some degree of detoxification with 10-30 minute sessions.

Deemed "the best musical of this century" by The New York Times, The Book of Mormon is returning to South Florida and bringing audiences a comedic musical like no other. The nine-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical follows two young missionaries, sent to Africa to share and preach their faith in the Mormon religion. However, the mismatched pair ends up learning that a successful mission may not be as easily accomplished in a society plagued by HIV/AIDS, poverty and violence. Make sure to purchase your tickets for a show that Entertainment Weekly describes as "the funniest musical of all time!"
American rock band Paramore will celebrate their fifth studio release, All Laughter, with South Florida audiences early this December at The Fillmore Miami Beach. All Laughter explores themes of depression, exhaustion and anxiety, in stark contrast to the vibrant and upbeat sound of the album. Join in and let Paramore show you how easy it is to be "Fake Happy" during "Hard Times," and what All Laughter is all about.

elcome to the 33rd annual White Party Week! It is time to enjoy all the parties, DJs and live entertainment brought to you by Care Resource in association with URGE Miami. Once again, my friends Luis Morera, Billy Kemp and Hilton Wolman of URGE Miami bring their expertise and experience producing some of the best parties and events for the LGBTQ community to the production of White Party Week 2017. Join us to party with a purpose and enjoy 33 years of celebrating our community amongst friends in Miami and Miami Beach while raising money for Care Resource, South Florida's largest and oldest HIV/AIDS service organization. LUIS MORERA Rafa Carvajal: Who is producing this year's White Party Week events? Luis Morera: We've assembled a really powerful team this year. It's Care Resource in association with URGE Miami (Luis Morera, Billy Kemp and Hilton Wolman). RC: What does it take to produce White Party Week and a week of events of this magnitude? LM: There's so much that goes into it. You have to know about vendors, permits, marketing, talent, etc. But for me, the most important part is having real knowledge of today's party scene. It changes day after day, with technology, apps and the web. You need to really be current and savvy, but also operationally disciplined. It's a lot.
RC: What parties are you most looking forward to? Why? LM: It's so hard to choose one because every event this year is different. You can't really compare them. We have XLSIOR from Mykonos and Arena from Mexico, and those are on top of the awesome classic parties! Every single event features something really different, whether it's a big DJ, a huge party brand, or just a chance to party with all your local friends, tourists, promoters, and circuit personalities. I really can't pick. We've got something for everyone this year. RC: Some of our readers are asking if there will be a "White Party" this year. Please explain why not. LM: This year is sort of a transition year for Winter Party Week, as Care Resource moves into a temporary location, while they build their incredible state of the art facility. Now they're the biggest HIV foundation on the East Coast! That's huge for them, for us, and for our country. It's an amazing milestone. So, instead of finding a quick location that would be too expensive for our guests, we'd rather take a year off and have a huge launch of the new Care Resource facility next year. We think our guests deserve that, and I think Care Resource really deserves that moment too. Honestly, aside from that, our guests and even our friends in the industry (hotels, bars, clubs) are still trying to work around the damage this hurricane season has left. South Florida saw some serious damages and we are grateful to those people that are still supporting us with donations or by buying tickets. It's amazing how resilient we are as a community, always ready to help. But paying for another event that would be subpar isn't what we want to offer. The city needs time to rebuild. I think a huge celebration for Care Resource next year is the way to go.
RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? LM: I just want to say thank you. I don't think we can say it enough. Not only to the volunteers and sponsors, but the officials in the city of Miami Beach that helped move this festival forward; and of course everyone who attends and has attended WPW for the past 32 years. We also want to remind everyone that this festival really does have a great cause. We are essentially partying with a purpose, and that's a great thing when your dollars are going towards something good. We also want thank everyone for the continued support. That's it, thank you.
"EVERY SINGLE EVENT FEATURES SOMETHING REALLY DIFFERENT, WHETHER IT'S A BIG DJ, A HUGE PARTY BRAND, OR JUST A CHANCE TO PARTY WITH ALL YOUR LOCAL FRIENDS, TOURISTS, PROMOTERS, AND CIRCUIT PERSONALITIES. WE'VE GOT SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE THIS YEAR." - LUIS MORERA

DJ CAJJMERE WRAY
PHOTO PROVIDED BY DJ CAJJMERE WRAY
Rafa Carvajal: How did you first get into DJing? DJ Cajjmere Wray: 23 years ago, it all started when I began spinning at straight clubs. Since I was underage at the time, the managers used to sneak me in and out of the back doors of the clubs so any potential undercover cops wouldn't spot me. I worked my way into the gay club scene around the year 2000, and slowly clawed my way up the ladder. RC: What sets you apart from other DJs? CW: As I've been told, seeing that more than 60% of my set is music that I've produced myself, this greatly sets me apart from other DJs. I do enjoy playing from the pool of other producers, but I craft my sound very carefully, hence why I choose to produce much of my own work and play it at the events I perform. Having officially remixed for many artists over the years allows me to recycle timeless vocals and breathe new life into them from time to time. RC: How would you describe a typical Cajjmere Wray set? CW: Very energetic, lots of percussion and a splash of vocals to always keep things interesting. RC: Who would be your dream collaborators? CW: Unfortunately, my dream collaborator passed away in 2013. Peter Rauhofer was the man who brought me into the gay side of this business when I produced for his Star 69 Records label back in the day. Even though Peter supported my work and taught me pretty much everything I know in the studio, we never had the chance to work on a record together. That would have been magical had it been able to happen. I miss him dearly.
"AS I'VE BEEN TOLD, SEEING THAT MORE THAN 60% OF MY SET IS MUSIC THAT I'VE PRODUCED MYSELF, THIS GREATLY SETS ME APART FROM OTHER DJS." - DJ CAJJMERE WRAY
RC: What can we expect to hear from you at the Muscle Beach party? CW: A really good day party that will ooze drama from the speakers, so I have plenty of goodies up my sleeve for this event. The hand fans will be clacking pretty much all afternoon, ha-ha. I can't wait! RC: How are you getting ready for your Muscle Beach party set? CW: I have been in the studio for several weeks putting new music together for the Muscle Beach party. I am eager to debut these tracks. RC: What are you looking forward to the most about DJing at the Muscle Beach party? CW: Spinning at this event is a privilege that I'm thankful for, so I'm looking forward to celebrating the camaraderie, and seeing everyone together in the sunshine, getting their life and enjoying what brought them there in the first place – the music. Putting music in the front seat where it rightfully belongs is very important to me. RC: What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it? CW: Oh, this is a tough one. I'd have to say Donna Summer "I Feel Love." Moroder is a genius, and Donna's vocals transcend time and space. RC: Where can we go hear your sets online? CW: My recorded sets and a variety of my official and private productions, including free downloads for DJs and fans/followers, are available on my SoundCloud page at soundcloud.com/cajjmerewray. RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? CW: I just want to remind everyone to keep supporting music and real talent, and to always party and play responsibly. #fortheloveofmusic

In 2013, Anton rose to success when he entered the show Melodifestivalen as an artist with his single "Beggin," which hit number one on iTunes and led him to becoming a 3x multi-platinum artist in Sweden. Anton joined Selena Gomez on her 2013 world tour as the opening act. Soon after, he released his EP entitled "A" which sold gold. He was also a Grammy nominee for Song of the Year, and an MTV EMA nominee for best Swedish act. Anton also became a selftaught music producer and songwriter for himself and other artists. His latest single, "L.I.L.Y." is a funky, eighties tinged electro pop release.
Rafa Carvajal: What type of music do you sing? Anton Ewald: I sing pop music. RC: What kind of records do you like to produce? AE: Producing is a process. I believe it requires a force from within that drives your inspiration. Life, its emotions and experiences are the mirror of music. I like to produce anything that I feel emotionally and/or mentally connected to. RC: Describe your experience being on tour with Selena Gomez. AE: Incredible! It was an amazing experience being part of the journey of such a huge influence in pop culture. Sharing with other artists, specially Selena Gomez, brings me another dimension of inspiration and knowledge that bounces back and forth. It is amazing. RC: Tell us about your latest single "L.I.L.Y." and what it's about. AE: "L.I.L.Y." was inspired by my wife Victoria (a native Miamian from Cuban descent). This is a song that I wrote during the early stages of romance with her. "L.I.L.Y." is about loving in a way that is genuine, unique, special and personal. Not loving more than you can, but just as you are. Loving perfectly, without boundaries. "L.I.L.Y." stands for "Like I Love You." Before I met my wife, I had fallen into a plateau in my producing career. She gave me an emotional and inspirational boost that led me to write and produce this song and a few other hit singles in Europe.
RC: Which artist would you love to collaborate with? Explain why. AE: Drake! I really think he has broken the mold in the music industry. He started a new movement in hip hop culture that influenced and shaped this genre through poetic lyrics and eclectic rhythm. A new inspiration for artists all around the world. RC: How did you become involved with White Party Week? AE: Raul Vegas, a dear friend involved in the local LGBTQ community, sparked the idea in me and presented it to Luis Morera, who graciously made efforts to make it happen. White Party Week is an important platform that celebrates equality, love and freedom and I am privileged and excited to be a part of it. RC: What can we expect during your performance at this year's Muscle Beach party? AE: My passion‌ which is my music. I hope that everyone has fun and enjoys my performance. RC: What are you looking forward to the most about your Muscle Beach party performance? AE: The crowd and I can't wait! RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? AE: I hope I get to meet as many of you as possible. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this moment with the LGBTQ community and get to inspire everyone with my music. #45 2017 WIREMAG.COM 17

Rafa Carvajal: How would you describe the Joe Gauthreaux sound? Joe Gauthreaux: My sound is upbeat, driving, melodic, and always with a house rhythm that keeps you moving. It can vary, as I do big rooms or outdoor events. But there's always a drive to my music, a hook that will keep you dancing or singing, and a tribal beat that you can't stop moving to. RC: Who would be your dream collaborators? JG: I'd love to collaborate with Dolly Parton. I love her voice, always have. RC: What can we expect to hear from you at the White Splash Pool Party? JG: I just finished a new official remix of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Diana Ross with my producing partner, DJ Leanh from Brazil. I'll be featuring that in my set, with lots of other surprises. RC: Will you be debuting any new songs? JG: Always. You will have to come and listen to find out what they are. RC: What are you looking forward to the most about DJing at the White Splash Pool Party? JG: White Party Week is always an amazing experience. Guys come from all over because there is nothing better than being in Miami during Thanksgiving. The beach, the atmosphere – it's magical. Miami and all of South Florida holds a special place in my heart because I play there often, and know a lot of the people in the crowd beyond just a face or body. It's that close connection that keeps me coming back more excited than the last time.
"MY SOUND IS UPBEAT, DRIVING, MELODIC, AND ALWAYS WITH A HOUSE RHYTHM THAT KEEPS YOU MOVING." - JOE GAUTHREAUX
RC: If you could be eternally stuck in one year's music scene, which year would it be? JG: That's an easy one – this year! I love the music I'm making and producing right now, and never really look back. It's nice to go down memory lane every now and then, but the thought of being stuck in a certain sound or era has never appealed to me. I'm all about what's happening right now, and right now is White Party Week! RC: Where can we go hear your sets online? JG: I have a podcast at joegauthreaux.podomatic.com, my soundcloud at soundcloud. com/joegauthreaux and you can also go to djjoeg.com for everything else – my website has all of the information you need! RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? JG: I can't wait to see you guys in Miami for White Party Week! Nothing can keep me from you.
