WKU Men’s Basketball suffers 4th straight loss

WKU Men’s Basketball’s offensive struggles and Sam Houston’s stifling defense helped the Bearkats overtake the Hilltoppers 78-62 Thursday night. The Bearkats shot 45% from the field for the game and converted 11 of their 25 3point attempts They held WKU to 30% shooting from the field and 9-30 from beyond the arc
“Obviously a very disappointing performance tonight,” Head Coach Hank Plona said postgame. “I think our lack of offense really showed tonight. We were doing a very poor job scoring inside It’s a very physical league and we were not digging down I think our defense and lack of togetherness was causing their to be some individual play on the offensive side ”

WKU Women’s Basketball secured the season sweep over the Sam Houston State Bearkats Thursday night with a 57-45 road win. The stifling defense of the Lady Toppers caused problems for the Bearkats all night WKU held SHSU to just 35% shooting from the field The Bearkats went 012 on 3-point shots
Junior guard Josie Gilvin took over in the second half after a productive second quarter. Gilvin racked up 13 of her points in the second half. Gilvin also racked up her second straight double-double securing 23 points and 11 rebounds.

WKU Softball set to host Hilltopper Classic
WKU Softball will host the Hilltopper Classic Feb. 23-24, its 2025 season home-opening tournament
After sweeping their competition in the Cardinal Clash Feb 14-16, the Hilltoppers are looking to carry momentum in front of their home crowd.
The Hilltoppers’ perfect 5-0 record at the Cardinal Clash resulted from top performances from freshman infielder Charlotte Herron, freshman utility player Macy Gregor and sophomore outfielder Kendle White.

WKU Baseball to host Lafayette College in 3game series
WKU Baseball will look to build on its 2-0 record as the Hilltoppers host Lafayette College in a three-game series this weekend

The Hilltoppers are coming off a series win against Illinois State, which was cut short last weekend due to inclement weather. The Hilltoppers and Redbirds went to extra innings in the second game, with senior third baseman Carlos Vasquez hitting a walk-off double on Friday night.
