WKU community participates in state-wide demonstration supporting DEI

WKU community members gathered Friday in Centennial Mall to stand for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) amidst recent government action opposing it

The demonstration at WKU was part of “Kentucky Day of DEI,” a movementat each public university in the commonwealth planned by theKentucky Students for DEI in response to legislation such asHouse Bill 4.

The bill would require Kentucky’s public universities to eliminate DEI programs, offices and jobs It would also prevent institutions from spending money on any DEI-related training or initiatives

WKU Baseball sweeps

Central Michigan

WKU Baseball continued its successful 2025 season sweeping the Central Michigan Chippewas in a four-game series Feb 28-March 2 at Nick Denes Field

The Hilltoppers outscored the Chippewas 29-13 in the series. Leading the Hilltoppers offense was junior Ryan Wideman. Wideman went 9-17 with three RBIs and a home run

The Hilltoppers record improved to 10-1, the best start to a season since 1928

WKU Softball secured three wins and suffered two losses in its second home tournament of the season Feb 28-March 2

The Hilltoppers defeated Tennessee Tech and Evansville but suffered two losses to Kentucky across the five-day Hilltopper Spring Fling. WKU’s nine-game win streak was ended during the tournament.

The weekend was all about WKU pitchers Rylan Smith and Maddy Wood Smith struck out nine players in game five against Tennessee Tech, and Wood was the lone Hilltopper to pitch a full game two against TTU
