1

Pick a: o Region - Statewide, Coastal, Metro and/or Eastern Region(s) o Size - Standard (2X2 or 1X4) or Super Size (2X4 or 1X8) o Week to run - Specify Mondays. Ad run dates within

the week vary by publication. Please plan for enough time to get print-ready ads and pre-payment submitted by the deadline shown on the order form

2

Design your ad: o Let your newspaper’s designers do the work! easiest (and free!) way - just get them the necessary info and graphics

o or create your own ad - if preferred. Will need to

make the 2 versions of the black & white ad (“Size A” and “Size B”, to accommodate the range of newspapers in the network). Certain restrictions apply. Please see tech specs sheet for design and content details

3

Finalize your ad and make payment: o Complete order form - and submit your approved ad. Pre-payment is required before the ad runs. If paying by check, please allow extra time for the payment to arrive and clear.

Tech Specs Sheet Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run my ad any week I wish?

Your ad will be placed on a first come / first served basis. This program has a limit of seven (7) ads per week. Generally the next available placement will be 1-2 weeks out, depending on how much design and approval time is needed to make the weekly deadlines, so please plan ahead accordingly.

Can I run a full-color ad in this program? No, this cost-effective program is reserved for black & white ads only.

Will my ad run in all papers in the region(s) I select?

Yes, all shown publications in the network have agreed to run all ads that comply with WNPA qualifications (see below) and their local standards and policies. Each WNPA member reserves the right to edit or reject ads accordingly, however most often qualifying ads run as requested.

What are the restrictions on types of ads I can run in this program? • • • • • • •

An ad may be rejected if it appears to be false, misleading, libelous, illegal, in poor taste or for other good reason. Ads may not require payment in advance for information about a product or service. Business opportunity and investment ads must disclose the type of business and amount of investment. Help wanted ads must be for bona fide openings and state the work offered. Help wanted ads for sales positions may not offer or appear to offer work on a salary basis when it is actually on a commission or bonus basis. Ads selling directories must state “directory” in the ad copy. WNPA members do not accept ads for 900 numbers, 800 numbers that refer to 900 numbers, quick-fix credit or work-at-home, or ads that discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender or marital status. Ads for weight control, appetite suppressants and food supplements must meet FDA regulations.

Design Specifications Size - submit BOTH “Size A” and “Size B” for each ad

Please prepare two (2) versions of each ad placement to accommodate a range of publication dimensions. The advertiser has a choice of two different price points, a “Standard Size” ad or a “Super Size” ad. Within each of these are a horizontal and vertical option. Since the ad will go into a variety of publications, once an option has been selected, there will be a “Size A” and a “Size B” version which need to be built and submitted for each ad. Both will have the same height, with slight variation in width. See the chart below: Main Price Point

Color

Grayscale only please, no full color or spot color ads can be accepted. Grays and reverse screens may not reproduce well in all publications, as a variety of presses are in use. Very light gray areas may “drop out” and very dark grays may go black- allowing a 15%20% dot gain is advised. Small reverse text below 10 points is not recommended. Background images can make text difficult to read, especially with small type. Clean, concise, high contrast ads are generally the most effective use of this space.

Accepted file format & prep

Please submit a separate grayscale PDF file for each version of the ad. The dimensions of the PDF should match the sizes shown in the chart above (crop down to ad itself). Line art and text should be at least 300 dpi, photos and bitmap images at least 200 dpi for best reproduction.

Deadlines

Will need to be done, approved and submitted approximately one week prior to the desired publication week, so keep that in mind. See the order form for specific placement deadlines, and adjust your production scheduling targets accordingly.
