At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, one minute of silence is observed across the country to mark the cessation of hostilities on the Western front during WWI. Remembrance Day in Australia commemorates the noble sacrifices of armed forces and civilians during times of war.

16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence Two weeks of events from Sunday, November 25 to Monday, December 10 A global campaign that raises awareness about violence against women and it’s impact on a woman’s physical, psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing.

Wanton, Wild and Unimagined Alison McDonald Official opening: 5.30pm, Friday, October 19 Exhibiting from 10am, Friday, October 19 to Saturday, November 24 A playful exhibition of sculptured recycled plastics that stirs the imagination and evokes environmental reflection. Townsville environmental artist Alison McDonald has collected thousands of lids to make a variety of unimagined and impossible creations inspired by plants, oceans and by John Wyndham’s book The Day of the Triffids.
