CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ENCLOSED

“Wherever I am when I depart this world, I’ll be watching Wolf Trap and all who accept the responsibility of carrying out my deep desire that it brings peacefulness, pleasure, and outstanding programs for people, young and old.” Catherine Filene Shouse, Founder, (1896-1994)

Wolf Trap, the nation’s only National Park for the Performing Arts, welcomes people of all ages to a place where nature, architecture, the arts, and community spirit combine most uniquely. Nearly 500,000 people are impacted by Wolf Trap each year through an array of performing arts offerings across all genres, and through our early childhood education and opera training programs. As a community, we are stewards of this national treasure, and we must elevate and keep the organization thriving, relevant, and beloved for future generations. The Campaign for Wolf Trap: Our Next Chapter is Wolf Trap Foundation's largest fundraising ambition ever—with a $50 million goal to reimagine and revitalize the Wolf Trap experience, build our endowment, and amplify our influence and impact locally and nationally. This $50 million campaign will yield the largest investment since our founding, and fulfill a vision to bring new vitality to our community treasure and amplify its influence as a national force in the arts. To realize this vision requires philanthropic support for two critical priorities: 1. Reimagining the Wolf Trap Park Experience through Capital investment 2. Growing the Wolf Trap Foundation Endowment The campaign is a five-year initiative, separate from the annual fund. The time has never been more necessary to think boldly about the next chapter for this beloved institution, and we hope you will be a leader in this once-in-a-generation initiative. Thank you for your consideration and friendship,

Hillary Baltimore

GIMME SHELTER

Thanks to generous support from trailblazing donors and Wolf Trap Foundation’s Board of Directors, capital improvements began in 2020—at the height of the Pandemic nonetheless. When visitors returned to the Park in 2021, they were welcomed by four beautiful new PAVILIONS that provide shelter and blend into the Park atmosphere.

3

Made of Douglas fir, these venues are available for Foundation gatherings, and in their first year, the Pavilions have already hosted hundreds of milestone family, corporate, and community event rentals.

4

FEELS LIKE HOME

While our stages were dark during the height of the Pandemic in 2020, upgrades were made to the Filene Center backstage artist spaces, dressing rooms, and stage door offices. Now, the backstage is welcoming and delighting artists and their crews who are on the road for many weeks of the year.

A fully outfitted, catering-ready Café accommodates artists and crews for their meals throughout the day.

SAFE AND SOUND In 2022, audiences are experiencing a new, more comfortable, safe and accessible seating configuration with center aisles and a crossover walkway, and an upgraded sound system.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

Enjoying nature and picnicking are a beloved Wolf Trap tradition, but the slope of the current terrain on the meadow and the mulch-covered areas are not accessible to all. Revamped Picnic Terraces (concept below) with even decking will offer an improved experience and accessibility for all visitors. This project is planned for completion by 2024.

“Wolf Trap has a destiny. It reaches out for people asking that they restore their spirits at its theatre, on its hillsides, in the woods or by the stream. And it can grow in scope and meaningfulness to the extent of man’s imagination and support.” -Catherine Filene Shouse Founder 7

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE

The new Meadow Commons (illustrated below from inside the Park gates) will offer ample food service, additional and upgraded restrooms, enjoyable Park views, and improved accessibility via elevators to connect upper and lower levels. (All illustrations are concepts for consideration and are not reflective of final finishes and materials.)

This most central and utilized Concessions Stand has not been updated since it was erected in 1971, and it is well beyond its useful life.

FOLLOW YOUR ARROW

Upon arrival in high-traffic areas like the one above, today’s patrons are not sure where to go next, and they follow the crowd straight to the ticketing area, never fully experiencing the Park or its amenities. A Hub (concept below) and improved wayfinding would serve as a welcoming central gathering place for information and wayfinding.

A CHANGE IS GONNA COME

An improved approach and main gate refinements would encourage security measures and enhance accessibility, parking, and flow. Education and interpretive displays would tell the Wolf Trap story as America's only National Park for the Performing Arts. Covered main queues leading to expanded Plaza are concepts for the future that would improve traffic flow.

Renderings are concepts for consideration.

Accessibility and amenities for families visiting the Children’s Theatre (concept below) will make for a more seamless day at the Park. All illustrations are concepts for consideration.

ENDOWMENT Capital improvements will enhance the patron, audience, and artist experience, but the programs that drive Wolf Trap Foundation must also be sustained for years to come. Diversifying our portfolio with funding that draws more dollars from endowment will enhance our stability, create an ongoing source of income, offer flexibility for management, and build a pipeline of future gifts.

TODAY, our growing $32M endowment provides just $1.25M of our annual budget. A larger endowment will ensure a measure of independence from economic and other unforeseen challenges.

13

A LARGER ENDOWMENT WILL ENSURE… ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE • Continued ambitious and diverse programming • Consistently high visitor experience • Mitigation of government funding risks

PROTECTION OF OUR INVESTMENTS • Enhance and maintain capital investments in perpetuity

14

AN INCREASED ENDOWMENT WILL BENEFIT CHILDREN & FAMILIES ARTS ACCESSIBILITY • Perennial funding for Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods • Field trips and grants to teachers • Young at Arts program funding

INSTITUTE FOR EARLY LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS GROWTH • • • • • •

New affiliates Broadened research Partnerships expansion Thought-leader opportunities Staffing stability Continuous Research

15

A LARGER ENDOWMENT WOULD PROVIDE FOR OPERA ARTIST DEVELOPMENT

• Increased grants to attract the best emerging artists and help them start successful careers

PRODUCTIONS

• Maintain opera as a Filene Center staple • Sustain high production values • Support long-range planning and innovative projects

INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP

• Recognize extraordinary and exemplary contributors to opera performance with a prize or by other means
