Carbonized Bamboo Flooring Carbonized bamboo floor is a type of flooring with carbonized finish, offering a dark amber tone on the surface similar to the coloring of young teak. Usually, bamboo floor is available in two shades: natural and carbonized or caramelized. Carbonized bamboo floor is obtained through a method called carbonization. The longer the procedure, the darker the bamboo flooring is going to be. Dark color on the bamboo floor is acquired when bamboo goes through pressure heating, which is part of the process. During pressure heating, the glucose contents in the fiber darken and also attain a coffee-colored tone on the exterior. However, this pressurized heating could weaken the bamboo flooring from 20% to 30%. When the freshly cut bamboo strips are carbonized within two hours and not exposed to treatment method with boiling water, the flooring gets 8% more hardness. Boiling water treatment methods are, however, used in the normal carbonization method. Carbonized bamboo floor is available in two variations: vertical carbonized bamboo flooring as well as horizontal carbonized bamboo flooring. The big difference lies in the alignment of the bamboo strips. Carbonized bamboo flooring is not utilized in places with heavy traffic like shopping complexes or office spaces. This type of flooring is ideal for use in residential buildings. Abuse of this flooring can result in scratches and denting on the exterior. Proper and timely upkeep is required for carbonized bamboo floors. The finish used on the surface has to be long lasting and capable of safeguarding the flooring from scratches and additional damages. All edges should be sealed so that moisture content will not accumulate beneath the flooring. It is perfect if the room moisture degree can be maintained using a dehumidifier or perhaps humidifier. Rates for installation of carbonized bamboo flooring are just like that of common hardwood floors but vary from one area to another.
