Working together for Valuing what you had to say Our values and behaviours were created by 1,300 staff members, service users and carers all working together in the Putting People First project. They reflect what we all believe makes the most positive difference to the care we offer and to the way we work with one another. By ‘living our values’ we will develop our Trust, our people, and continue to improve the quality of everything we do. They will help us to: • Plan and make positive decisions • Develop our staff and recruit the right people • Measure service user, carers’ and staff experience • Keep improving as a Trust

better mental health Living our values Our values offer us a clear Framework of Behaviours by which we can hold ourselves and others to account. This framework guides us in the things each of us can do as individuals, as services or teams, and as a whole Trust to: • Deliver even better care • Become better colleagues • Make our Trust a better place to work

In the development of our values and behaviours, the project delivered 2,000 hours of listening sessions around Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Putting People First project was launched in 2015 to encourage more effective two-way communication and engagement with our staff, and our service users and carers.

We will not... Focus on the problem... Rather than the solution, make excuses or say “It’s not my job” Be negative... Take part in unkind gossip, moan or criticise Avoid responsibility... Make false promises, blame others or ‘pass the buck’ Abandon people... Without a point of contact or advice Devalue other’s efforts and achievements... Take people’s contributions for granted or avoid giving praise

Be distracted, clock watch or lack awareness of our impact on others Be obstructive... Put up barriers, make things more complicated than they need to be
