Bowling Etiquette and Manners

When you bowl, it is very important to understand the manners and etiquette of bowling, as well as the proper care of the lanes and equipment. Please review our procedures and guidelines for use, listed below. Always wear bowling shoes. If you don’t have bowling shoes, clean, white soled sneakers can be worn. Street shoes will ruin the approaches and equipment. Always remove your street shoes away from the lanes and hardwood, especially if they are wet. Water can ruin the hardwood and if your shoes get wet, you can easily fall and hurt yourself. Keep any food or drinks away from the lanes. Spilling anything can damage the equipment and also be dangerous for others. If your ball doesn’t make it down the alley, you can stop all play in both lanes and walk down the alley to retrieve your ball. Please Do Not bowl from this point. Return to the approach before resuming the game. Do not keep your hands anywhere near the ball return and stay back from the foul line as much as possible. There is oil on the lane just past the foul line, and if you go past it, it may become dangerous for you and the other players if tracked back to the foul line area. Most Importantly, PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALWAYS RESET PINS AFTER 2 OR 3 ROLLS. Not doing this will damage the equipment and may shut down the lanes for the day. If at any point the pins get misfed or jammed, the alley will have to be shut down for proper repair the following day. Please discontinue use and inform a WCC employee. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR YOURSELF. Thank you!
