The Word Among Us Partners provides free devotional magazines and spiritual support to men and women in difficult circumstances: our military service members, women in crisis pregnancies, college students, parishioners in low-income areas, and incarcerated brothers and sisters. Partners articles show our readers that God is working and speaking to people amidst these challenging circumstances. The articles tell compelling stories that give a clear sense of what people are facing, and how God is personally with them, revealing himself, changing their hearts, and providing what they need. Our goal is to give a face to the recipients of our Partners ministry. The articles should run between 9501100 words. They will appear beside a sidebar with a financial appeal.
Who We Are: The Word Among Us is an inspirational magazine that aids our readers in their understanding of Scripture and provides them with sound, practical advice for Christian living. We publish ten issues a year and reach more than 500,000 subscribers in the US and Canada, and more than 200,000 in other countries. We hope to be an instrument of the Holy Spirit, helping people to know and love Jesus Christ and contributing to the Church’s mission of proclaiming the gospel to the world. Thank you for being part of this mission. Content Standards: All articles should be written in a popular-level, readable style that avoids jargon and technical theological or subject language. Long Scripture quotes and use of copyrighted material from other sources will be cut. Please study recent issues and www.wau.org to get a sense for our style. To inquire or submit a Partners article for consideration, email our Features Editor at kathryn_elliott@wau.org. Style and Tone: The Word Among Us maintains a hopeful and down-to-earth tone. We are a respected resource for priests and non-Catholic Christians alike. To that end, we encourage submissions with ecumenical appeal, correct and insightful application of Scripture, and demonstration of faith come alive. Our readers’ level of education varies so we try to publish articles that are widely accessible—think tenthgrade reading level. Although more women subscribe than men, we receive equal comments and reactions from men and women. Publishing Rights: After we accept an article for possible publication and if we agree on a final draft with the author, we pay our contributors a standard, competitive rate. Upon payment, we buy first full non-exclusive worldwide rights to publish the article in any and all languages, forms, or formats, including all electronic formats. We make the article available on our digital platforms during the month in which it appears in the print version of the magazine. After that, it is accessible to subscribers in our online archive. We reserve the right to make print articles available again in the future, whether on our digital platforms or by reprint.
