If a Hamptons client is planning a significant renovation project, at what stage should they be making contact with RJC? Its always good to get in contact as early as possible with any project. An ideal time is when plans are being drawn up and the client is starting to look for pricing as today’s homes require more complex electrical solutions. This gives the client and contractor a good amount of time to discuss design, specification and compatibility requirements for the project. We can also offer advice on aspects of their project they may have not thought about, as with all projects big or small there is a lot to think about.

Are you able to help landlords with their certification needs? Yes, we can help with all electrical certification and works that a landlord may require, especially so with all the new regulations that are regularly updated which requires landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at an interval of at least every 5 years. After inspections we notify the landlord of any unsafe conditions and can rectify if required, so their tenants have a safe electrical installation in their home. This ensures peace of mind for both parties.

What are the most common mistakes you find home owners make when renovating or remodelling? I wouldn’t like to say customers make common mistakes, but I would always advise they get a Professional, fully qualified and registered trade in to carry out any work that they are looking to do in their homes. This will not only give them a finished product to the highest of standards but also give them the peace of mind that the work has been carried out safely and adheres to regulations.

What services do you offer for the outside of properties? We can cater for a wide aspect of outside electrical work, such as and not limited to the following: • Aesthetic landscape lighting • Electric vehicle charging points • Hot tub wiring • Security lighting • Garden home offices • Outside sockets • CCTV

We always advise getting in contact with any queries and/or ideas and we will endeavour to help achieve the result they want.

How can you help homeowners save money on their bills? Firstly, we can offer advice to homeowners with ways they can be more energy aware in their home and the way they are using their electrical appliances. To aid further, an energy monitor can be installed to allow a homeowner a visual real time display of energy being used help them to be more energy efficient. We can upgrade lighting from halogen to LED. This is an attractive, eco-friendly, and cost-effective alternative to traditional lighting. In a lot of cases converting to LED can gain up to 90% saving on energy used by lighting circuits. Furthermore, upgrading heating controls to smart controls can be another cost-effective way of saving money on energy bills and giving a client more control over when their heating is switching on and off. There are many other effective ways to help reduce energy consumption depending on each individual household, which we would be happy to advise on.
