www.greenbuildconstruction.co.uk Tell us a little about your background and how Green Build came into being? Most of the team come from carpentry and general building backgrounds. Nico Spurrier started out in 2005 and owns the business. He has since added key Greenbuild team members Joe Brikkels, Bayram Perek and Paul Budd to run departments, manage sites and deliver projects efficiently.

How would you summarise your strengths and expertise? Renovating property and creating beautiful homes is our speciality. At GreenBuild we strive to deliver a service that surpasses expectations. Our focus is always to add value to your home and lifestyle, creating beautiful, functional rooms and living spaces. We believe excellent communication and a thorough understanding of precisely what you want to achieve in your home or workplace is absolutely key to delivering a successful project. One of the benefits of working with GreenBuild is we offer you one central point of contact for the entire project. Our experienced team of highly skilled tradesmen are knowledgeable, friendly and polite, with site managers trained to a high standard, guaranteeing timely, straight-forward communication, excellent cost efficiency and a positive approach to the work we do together.

What is the most satisfying part of your job? We really enjoy the transformation of existing to new. It’s a lot of hard work but seeing the client’s aspirations becoming a reality and then handing over the finished property is obviously extremely enjoyable and satisfying for all involved.

Talk us through your customer process from that initial enquiry? BRIEF / DESIGN / BUDGET / BUILD / HANDOVER When you work with GreenBuild we take the stress out of the design and construction process, clarifying complex issues and meeting any challenges along the way, allowing you to take a step back to enjoy the excitement, joy and satisfaction of seeing your dreams come to life.

Tell us about a project you’re particularly proud of? Printmakers Place, Leatherhead What was a nondescript 1970’s brick bungalow has been radically transformed into a dynamic contemporary home as well as an artist’s studio. The house has been designed around 2 wings housing the master and ancillary bedrooms and studio and at its centre is a large open plan social kitchen and dining which opens out to the garden. The inspiration of the house has come from properties our clients had visited while in New Zealand where there is an emphasis on simple yet dynamic forms creating functional architecture. The design utilises slim framed glass walls which slide seamlessly into pockets allowing us to completely open the indoor living with the outdoor. The roof form is a series of vaulted angled plains which are finished in copper cladding and tiles. Internally this creates tall almost cathedral spaces to some of the main living areas finished in a cool white paint to showcase the various artwork, created by our client.
