Banstead Wood and Chipstead Downs Nature Reserve A informative day out, this site is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), one of the most important wildlife designations nationally and a Local Nature Reserve (LNR). It is an important example of the lowland heath habitat, including the heather and acid grassland. The site also has a number of Bronze Age burial mounds (3-5000 years old) which have been designated Scheduled Ancient Monuments. In the Bronze Age, the Heath was largely clear of trees. Around this time, a cemetery was established on the Heath; the burial mounds (tumuli) are still visible today Banstead, Tadworth CR5 3NR www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/

Horton Country Park Horton Country Park is a rural landscape of fields, hedgerows, ancient woods and ponds of great wildlife and historical interest. The site achieved Local Nature Reserve Status in 2004 as a place where people can enjoy nature on their doorstep. Nork Park Nork Park is an important recreational area for local residents and visitors alike. A popular dog walking spot, the park is recognised for its wonderful views, as well as the rare and unusual plants and flowers that grow there. Its football pitches, playgrounds and community centre are well used by the local community. One of the park’s most interesting – and potentially valuable – features is its established in the late 1840s. The arboretum contains a number of non-native tree species, many of them mature and home to thriving wildlife communities. It has great potential to be a regionally important educational and scientific facility. 211 Nork Way, Banstead SM7 1JG www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/info/20042/
