Local Schools

Where our children spend most of their week and how they are being educated is a decision which should take some serious consideration. We have put together this list of suggestions to make your life a little bit easier. Many local schools and nurseries offer free tours so please go and visit your choice options before making that final important decision.

South Wilts Grammar School

South Wilts provides high quality education and is one of the top schools in the country. Academic achievement at South Wilts is excellent with outstanding examination results across all key stages. The school has over 1000 students, including over 376 students in the sixth form. We, at South Wilts, not only focus on academic excellence but help our students to become independent and resilient learners. We actively encourage participation in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, with many enrichment opportunities across all subject areas, including international links. We value the contribution made by all and are proud of the strong culture of learning and mutual support between pupils.

Bishop Wordsworth’s School

We now have around 1200 pupils across the school, about 400 of whom are in the Sixth Form. In Years 7-11 we cater for boys only, but since September 2020 we have welcomed girls to our coeducational sixth; approximately 30% of Years 12 and 13 are female students. The legacy of Bishop John Wordsworth and our heritage and traditions are something we are very proud of. The marriage of old and new, historical roots and innovative development makes for a unique educational experience for every one of our students. We want to make being at Bishop’s special for all our boys and girls.

At the heart of Godolphin is a warm and unified community that incorporates our students, our parents and staff and our impressive alumnae. Our students are valued as individuals within this tight knit community where they are encouraged to be ambitious, authentic, courageous, and kind. Personal ambitions can be forged, and talents discovered in an environment that celebrates the importance of a holistic education. Intellectual curiosity, and physical challenge go hand in hand with digital competency, creativity, and mental wellbeing as we strive to provide our students with a broad skill set that can prepare them for life beyond school.

Leehurst Swan School

At Leehurst Swan, we recognise the uniqueness of each child, and it is our privilege to guide them on the road to discovering their own talents and achieving their true potential. ‘Find Your Voice’ is at the heart of everything we do and is embedded in all aspects of school life. We offer a family-friendly, nurturing environment based on Christian values, and a broad and varied education which both stimulates and challenges. We seek to encourage a true enthusiasm for learning and to help pupils grow in knowledge, wisdom and understanding while preparing them for their future beyond school.

Chafyn Grove School

Chafyn Grove aims to provide an environment of enjoyable challenge for boys and girls from 3 to 13 years old. Too much challenge is stressful, too little is dull. In between exists the essence of a first-class education, achieved by high quality relationships between staff and pupils and a breadth of opportunity. The latter aspect is a key component of our success: that each child discovers their strengths. We hope that all our children will develop habits and attitudes which will serve them throughout their education, through school and life. As well as building on strengths, it is also healthy for our children to encounter areas of relative weakness and learn from them too. Our provision sets out to exercise Curiosity, Courage and Compassion, enabling our children to explore all of their potential and develop it.

Salisbury Cathedral School

Salisbury Cathedral School is a coeducational independent school in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, which was founded in 1091 by Saint Osmund. The choristers of Salisbury Cathedral are educated at the school. Standards are impressively high here. Many pupils receive senior school scholarships, our choristers are world famous, 95% of our boys and girls play a musical instrument and our sports teams have a good share of the laurels. We celebrate such success particularly because we know it comes from a place of happiness and confidence in mind, body, and soul. It is also a result of all our children being able to stretch out – literally in our 27-acre haven – and develop their talents at their own pace, learn how much they are valued as individuals and how much they can best contribute to the wonderful community they find themselves in.

St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School

St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School sits at the heart of the stunning medieval city of Salisbury. We are based in a beautiful Grade II listed building with modern facilities and led by a group of dedicated, professional, and highly competent staff. Our 210 pupil, one form entry school is organised into 7 classes. St Osmund’s Pre-School is on the same site and, while it is privately-owned, we have a close relationship, ensuring that there is a smooth transition for those children who choose to apply from there to the main school. We also enjoy close links with the parish of St Osmund and each week, a class celebrates Mass with the parish.
