Excellent aircraft performance, state-ofthe-art manufacturing techniques, modern avionics and exceptional value
in terms of acquisition costs make the V1.0 a serious alternative in today’s piston single-engine aircraft arena. The V1.0’s structure is a combination of welded steel tubes arranged in an articulate reticular fashion (main cabin) coupled with a riveted aluminum wing, tail cone and empennage sections. This arrangement ensures a strong protective cabin for pilot and passengers and a lightweight structure altogether. The V1.0 is powered by the 180 hp Lycoming IO-360-M1A that is capable of running with AvGas or alternative fuels. To satisfy the owner’s profile, the aircraft is offered with a choice of a fixed-pitch propeller or a constant-pitch propeller (optional).

The standard avionics package of choice features a Garmin G500 coupled with a GTN650 unit and a JPI digital engine monitoring system. Mid Continent’s latest digital back-up digital instrument (SAM) is offered standard in the aircraft package as well as an

In addition to its new single engine product Vulcanair Aircraft is progressing with the continuous improvement of its twin-engine aircraft line with the

Cessna announced on June 24 that it has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification of the Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) system for the high-performance Cessna TTx propeller aircraft. The FIKI system extends the TTx’s mission capabilities and enables pilots to file flight plans for varying weather conditions. It can provide up to two-and-a-half hours of protection from most ice attaching to the airframe, with minimal impact on the performance.

ATLAS Air Service qualifies as maintenance facility for Cirrus Aircraft

Atlas Air Service has been a maintenance partner for Cirrus Aircraft since April 2014 certified by the German Aviation Authority (LBA). The approval was granted in accordance with EASA Part 145. At the airfield Ganderkesee (EDWQ), Atlas Air Service now offers all owners and operators of aircraft types Cirrus SR20, SR22 and SR22T high-quality maintenance support. The company has more than forty years of experience in all service and maintenance aspects for the aircraft types Cessna Citation, Cessna Caravan, Cessna Propeller, Beechcraft Piper and Enstrom Helicopter. Atlas Air Service meanwhile employs 250 staff and offers the entire portfolio of an aviation company at a total of five maintenance facilities in accordance with EASA Part 145 (DE.145.0017) in Germany.
The FIKI system uses glycol-based TKS fluid, which is pumped through micro-drilled holes in the titanium leading edges of the aircraft’s wings. The propeller and windshield are also protected with TKS fluid. The TTx is an all-composite, high-performance aircraft, designed specifically for comfort, speed and luxury. The TTx is the first airplane to be equipped with the Garmin G2000 avionics system, featuring a glass cockpit with dual 14.1-inch (35.81 cm) high-definition displays and touch-screen controls. ! Univair Has Kept Classic Pipers Flying Since 1946
CONTINENTAL’s new six-cylinder Diesel to debut at Air Venture. Continental Motors says it will take the wraps off a new 300-hp aircraft V-6 diesel engine at AirVenture in July, according to CEO Rhett Ross. Like the Centurion 2.0 and 2.0S diesels, the new engine leverages automotive technology from Mercedes Benz and is aimed at the high-performance single- and twin-engine segment not yet served by a high-horsepower production diesel engine. Ross said the company is hoping the engine will fly before AirVenture opens on July 28. He declined to reveal what aircraft the engine will fly in, other than to say it’s a “generic composite low wing.� Given the horsepower, a Cirrus SR22 seems to be the most likely test bed. “My goal is that we will have a high-fidelity mock up, actual parts and pieces, but not an operable engine, at Oshkosh,� Ross told AVweb this week. “I’m hedging my bets, but I’m hoping to say within a matter of weeks, that test flights have been successfully completed,� he added. The engine will fit into a product line that the Continental Motors Group will shortly be renaming.

Father-son team attempts coast-to-coast LSA world record
"We had suspense all of the way down to the end of the flight, from changing our route 30 minutes before take-off on flight day two and a powerful storm system approaching behind us. We actually weren't certain of success until those wheels finally touched down," said Michael Combs. Daniel and Michael Combs celebrate in Charleston, South Carolina after just setting a coast-to-coast world record in the Remos aircraft named “Hope One.”
Pilot Michael Combs and his son Daniel recently attempted to set a world record for a coast-to-coast flight in a Remos light sport aircraft. The pair took off from Ontario International Airport in California and landed in Mount Pleasant Regional Airport in South Carolina 34 hours and one minute later.

investigate and quickly found the offending connection. This was easily repaired but the analysis continued so we could understand why this had occurred and how we could prevent it happening again. Early on the Sunday, Keith was back in the aircraft and well before the show opened, he took to the skies again. This was followed with some high speed taxiing across Sywell’s rough grass to prove that we had overcome the issue. The results were good, the aircraft was back into the flying display and later that evening was also flown back to the e-Go Centre in Cambridgeshire.
It was an exciting few days for e-Go at Aero Expo in Sywell. Not only did we give our first public flying displays but Malcolm ended up being commentator for the whole airshow, introducing the Trig aerobatic team, the Aeromobility glider and the Calidus auto-gyro! Things went very well on the Friday despite the relatively grey skies and we slotted in between the biplane, glider and autogyro displays to demonstrate our highly capable and lively canard design. Onlookers were impressed at the roll rate and the fact that within a minute or so of the end of the display the aircraft was back on its supports on our stand; “was that the aircraft that was just up there in the display?!”. A great advantage of being so light. On the Saturday we were about to repeat the performance when our pilot Keith noticed an electrical fault. Being sensibly cautious, he retired the aircraft before we taxied out. We recognise this was a great disappointment to those who had come to see the e-Go fly but is in line with our careful approach. Come the end of the day and as the crowds left, we were able to

Massachusetts-based Terrafugia is seeking strategic partners on the mainland to help fund its plan to put its flying car on the streets and in the air by 2016. In less than a minute, Terrafugia's Transition flying vehicle can be transformed from a car to an aircraft by unfolding its wings. Powered by a 100-bhp engine, it can reach speeds of up to 105km/h in car mode and cruise at 160km/h in the air. Terrafugia co-founder and chief executive Carl Dietrich, visiting the mainland this month, said he was looking for equity investors as strategic

partners for the first time. After meeting government economic development groups, officials and potential investors, Dietrich said they were interested to know how flying cars might work on the mainland and what kind of timeframe he was looking at.
He said the company, seeking to raise US$30 million in its fifth round of financing, had attracted some serious interest from Chinese investors. The funds would be used to support the delivery of Transition, which made its first public flight at an aviation show in the United States last year, and to develop the nextgeneration prototype, the TF-X. Dietrich said Terrafugia had received some pre-orders for the Transition, priced at US$279,000, and production was ramping up in order to be able to make deliveries in 2016. The Dornier Do 17 one year on Tuesday 10th June 2014 marked the first anniversary of the moment the world’s last Dornier Forward Fuselage June 2014. surviving Dornier Do 17 was successfully lifted from the bottom of the Dover Straits. The breath taking moment the aircraft surfaced from the water was captured live on TV and sparked interest from around the globe. Significant work has taken place in recent months on the airframe’s major assemblies. The forward fuselage has been de-riveted and separated from the tail boom, the latter section having suffered major damage during its period on the seabed. The separation of these two sections has enabled the conservation team to focus effort on the forward fuselage interior and this is progressing well. The spraying process has also proved effective on the propellers and both units will shortly be placed on purpose built stands in readiness for the next stage of their conservation. Visitors to the RAF Museum Cosford are able to view the Dornier and watch the process through viewing panels in the tunnels. For visitors wishing to gain even closer access to the aircraft, volunteers from the Museum’s Aerospace Museum Society will be working on Dornier components every Tuesday and Thursday between 10:30am and 3:00pm in the Museum’s Test Flight Hangar. It is a great opportunity for aviation fans to get close to this historic aircraft and to ask the volunteers questions about the vital work they are carrying out.
At the 2012 Farnborough Airshow, our plans to build the famous 1930s Handley Page HP42 airliner as operated by The Handley Page HP42 airliner from Imperial the 1930’s to be re-created. Airways (predecessor to British Airways) were finalised. Our team, Team Merlin, operates rare and unique aircraft, the most famous being the 1994 World War One bomber replica – the Vickers Vimy. This aircraft re-enacted 3 historic flights to Australia, South Africa, and Alcock and Brown’s first ever non-stop transatlantic flight. The knowledge and infrastructure from this project was used as a stepping stone for our next project ‘Imperial 42’, an airliner replica which is twice the size making it the world’s largest bi-plane. The Handley Page HP42 was the ‘Concorde of its era’, and symbolized the golden age of travel in the 1930s. This project has taken 20 years of world-wide research to get to this stage where we can now say the entire infrastructure and technical details are in place, and we are now in a unique position to start the aircraft build. We will also be opening the world’s first Imperial Airways Collection in a couple of months’ time to run alongside the project, where we have, amongst other things, the largest collection of original artefacts, a Croydon Airport style foyer, and a replica of part of the interior HP42 cabin for people to sit in and see what travelling was like first hand. At the present we have some material sponsors for the build and once flying we have interest from many sectors in and out of aviation, from fashion houses who originally used the aircraft, to sporting events and already a major part in a planned feature film. We also intend to fly to all the original destinations for major promotional work once complete, alongside attending events such as the Formula 1 races. BERINGER AERO Wheels & Brakes introduces new 4” mains – World’s Lightest BERINGER Wheels & Brakes has announced its new 4” main wheel and brake for light aircraft, up to 350kg (roughly 330 to 770 pounds). Cut from solid aluminum billet on precision CNC machinery and Beringer’s new 4” main wheel with brake and tyre. carrying Beringer’s signature bright red anodized finish, these new wheels and hydraulic brakes are introduced as the lightest ever available in their size, strength, and capability class. The single-piston hydraulic caliper provides smooth, powerful braking on its floating disc. Maintenance is reduced through the incorporation of sealed ball bearings; and maintenance intervals are further extended, through Beringer’s super long-lasting sintered metallic pads, which generate more stopping power as they heat, when you can use it – as the airplane has less lift, and the end of the runway is nearer. The new two-piece wheel saves weight through its CNC-machined construction and tubeless mounting, and accommodates several popular tire sizes (3.00-4; 4.00-4; 2.80/2.50-4; 10x3.50-4). Flange-mount aluminum axles are available to match various aircraft requirements. Just how light? The wheel assembly, complete with bearings, hydraulic caliper, pads, and disc, weighs under 39 ounces. The choice of tire (not included) determines the ultimate installed weight. Milestones were announced at Cessna in the certification programme of the new Cessna Citation Latitude. The FAA has granted a Type Inspection Authorization certificate and the first production unit has joined the flight test programme. The TIA for the Latitude is a significant step forwards as it allows Cessna to begin accumulating flight hours that will apply toward official certification. Phenom success continues as Embraer announced that it has delivered the 500th Phenom unit (a Phenom 300). In the five and a half years the Phenom models have existed, they have been introduced into 37 countries and the airplanes have collectively accumulated more than 370,000 flight hours. The Phenoms are produced at Embraer's facilities in São José dos Campos, Brazil and Melbourne, Florida, and while Embraer has delivered about 300 Phenom 100s and 200 Phenom 300s, the Phenom 300 will likely surpass the Phenom 100 in deliveries as Embraer is currently shipping about twice as many of the larger Phenom.

Cessna announced towards the end of June that the company has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the Citation M2 business jet, paving the way for deliveries to begin immediately. This latest certification comes just two weeks after Cessna’s receipt of EASA certification for its Citation Sovereign+.

The apprentices, who hail from across the UK, are now set to undertake the next stage of their induction training in the Granite City. Ten of the apprentices are destined to support Bristow’s oil and gas operations, and another ten will join its UK Search and Rescue (SAR) service. Two apprentices are looking forward to a career at Bristow’s Design and Production Centre in Redhill, Surrey. Bristow was awarded the UK SAR contract by the Department for Transport, and will deliver SAR helicopter service on behalf of The Maritime & Coastguard Agency from ten bases across the UK, beginning April 2015. One SAR apprentice will go on to work at each of the ten SAR bases.
Aberdeen-based helicopter operator, Bristow Helicopters Ltd, has confirmed that its latest intake of 22 engineering apprentices have successfully completed their initial eight months of training at the LRTT College in Gloucester. The future engineers were selected from a field of more than 1,300 applicants last spring after a rigorous assessment process in Aberdeen.

Bell have recently delivered a new Bell 429 from their facility in Czech Republic to Air Transport Europe, one of the main operators in Slovakia. The helicopter - serial 57143 - was test flown in Prague as OK-BHY (as seen in photos here) and was delivered as OM-ATR.

PremiAir have yet to confirm what helicopters they will be operating. Although they did operate a customer's AS355N into London Heliport at Battersea on 13th June using the call-sign "Premiair 02", so we assume AS355 is included. PremiAir have one AS355F2 registered in their name - G-PASL - but they are not the owner as it is annotated "Chartered" in the CAA record. This aircraft is specifically being configured for Night Vision under a joint venture the company has with ASU. PremiAir's Chief pilot John Slater recently completed his Type Rated Examiner /Instrument Rated Examiner qualifications with Helicopter Services at Wycombe Air Park. 2013 merged their individual share portions to become only one shareholder each for the companies Helitec Helicopter GmbH (Helitec) and Aviation Support GmbH (Aviation Support). The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance during their 10,000th mission.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance announced this afternoon that it had carried out its 10,000th mission. The Charity’s EC135 helicopter, Pilot Max Hoskins, Paramedic Mark Williams and Consultant Doctor Ian Mews attended the incident which took place in the Shaftesbury area in mid-June. Bill Sivewright, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Chief Executive Officer said, “Every one of the missions we fly is the result of somebody suffering a potentially life-threatening injury or accident and it is not a number that we celebrate. It simply demonstrates the need for an Air Ambulance that services the counties of Dorset and Somerset. “We would like express our thanks to everyone who supports the Charity and hope they feel as proud as we are, to be making such a difference to so many people’s lives.”

During June, the UK’s Guardian newspaper published an extensive profile of London's police helicopter unit. CHC UK wins Statoil contract with two S92s

The contract calls for CHC to operate two Sikorsky S-92 aircraft on behalf of Statoil. The helicopters will fly from Aberdeen or Sumburgh on the Shetland Isles to the Statoil operated Mariner field, 250 kilometres off the northeastern coast of Scotland.
“We are pleased to have entered into this contract, meeting our needs for safe and efficient transportation to the Mariner field, our first operated field development on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS),” said Gunnar Breivik, managing director of Statoil Production UK and head of the company’s Aberdeen office.
“We will have substantial offshore activity as the Mariner project enters the hook-up and commissioning phase in 2016 and production starts in 2017,” said Mr. Breivik. “We are also pleased with the flexibility in the contract, including options for servicing our exploration activity and possible expansion on the UKCS.”

On March 25th, SARA, the Sikorsky Autonomy Research Aircraft, reached yet another milestone as the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) granted a new type of experimental certificate – Optionally Piloted Vehicle Experimental Certificate for the aircraft. The event was a key step in the process as SARA makes her way to full autonomous flight.
Aero Dynamix, Inc. is proud to announce they have been granted another EASA NVG STC. This time the EASA STC is on a Bell 412EP, EASA STC number 10049194.
Members of the FAA were fixated on the aircraft for a few hours as they reviewed all the one-of-a kind technology that is being used in the helicopter. More than just the look of the helicopter, the FAA was presented data that proved SARA is fully capable of flying ‘pilot optional’.
This is the first of two 412EP’s Aero Dynamix will modify for the Faroe Islands operator, Atlantic Airways, which will use the modified aircraft for Search and Rescue.

The EC175 Flight Navigation Procedures Trainer (FNPT III) has been certified by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) and is now operational. Airbus Helicopters pilot instructors are already undergoing training in anticipation of the first student pilots who are expected to arrive early this summer.

The EC175 FNPT is just one of the training solutions that Airbus Helicopters has set up to support the entry into service of the EC175.
