HISTORY MEETS MODERN: CITY CENTRE

MULTICULTURAL NØRREBRO

2

Vibrant, colourful – a real mumble jumble of life. Trendy bars and designer shops nestle next to dodgy dive bars and cheap kebab places. If you are into small design shops, head for Elmegade or Jægersborggade, or peruse antiques in Ravnsborggade. At Sankt Hans Torv and its surrounding streets, cafes and restaurants are everywhere, of every variety. At Assistens Cemetery you can visit the graves of famous Danes, or do like the locals: Relax in the beautiful cemetery park.

In this myriad, you will find some of the city’s most popular attractions, within easy walking distance. Browse by the political, royal, and historic centre, dive into a web of great shopping streets, cozy cafes, restaurants, green oases, charming canals, and a modern waterfront. The main artery in the heart of the city centre

is the pedestrian street Strøget, that runs from City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv. Right by Kongens Nytorv, you find Nyhavn, a unique old quayside. Hans Christian Andersen lived by this picturesque canal, writing his world-famous fairy tales. Beautiful wooden boats, cafes, and restaurants line the waterfront. Enjoy dinner and the atmosphere at this historic hot spot, or visit Torvehallerne: Tasty delicacies and fresh produce of the very best quality at Copenhagen’s biggest food market, with more than 60 stylish stands. 2014 Cruising Copenhagen P. 15
