Aspire Vision
• To enhance and enrich all students by providing stimulating activities to support academic studies and expand knowledge and understanding. • Inspire and support our most able students to make successful applications to competitive universities.
1) CUPP 5) UCAS App Early applicant students (Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary) are supported through their UCAS application process from start to finish. Two support sessions are run a week from May – December. Students are supported with their applications, personal statement, entrance tests and interviews.
4) UCAS Prep Year 12 & Year 13 students are provided with a wide range of UCAS / University preparation activities. These include: open lectures, Oxbridge conference, Oxbridge open days & guest lecturers. Any opportunities that we are aware of are either set up as a trip and/or all students are made aware of it.
3) Aspire Lectures Across the academic year there are eight Aspire lectures that are hosted at the College. These lectures are delivered by University lectures/professors and cover as many different subject areas as possible across the year. All students are informed and can attend these lectures. Subject areas bring whole classes where relevant.
The top 25 achieving (GCSE Avg) students in Yr 12 are enrolled onto CUPP. CUPP students have a two hour lesson a week with Chris Turner focusing on student development until January, EPQ until May and then UCAS applications until the end of the academic year.
2) EPQ Students in CUPP are taught and supported through an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). Students have a two hour lesson a week over two terms to work on an EPQ on a topic of their choice. At the start of Year 13 students are assigned subject specialist to support them in finish their EPQ. EPQ’s provide UCAS points, lowered offers, academic skills and great interview evidence.

Aspire – UCAS Application Process •
Early application courses (Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary and anything at Oxbridge) are very competitive!
•
Despite contextual offers the odds are against our students.
•
The University application process for these courses/Universities is extremely difficult and exhaustive.
•
The UCAS application form, personal statement, entrance exams, entrance interviews and work experiences are the main hurdles. •
As a result of the above the Aspire programme is needed as well as a Growth Mindset!
