Sport Exercise & Health Science Foundation Degree (FdSc)


About the course The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences has been developed to equip individuals with the scientific knowledge relevant to the health and fitness industry as well as the necessary professional qualifications and skills. The programme is principally aimed at individuals who wish to enter or develop a career within the health and fitness industry. To accommodate the principles and defining characteristics of a Foundation Degree, the programme is delivered through a modular mode of study blending traditional methods of teaching and learning with aspects of work-based learning. Equally the curriculum has been designed to ensure that individuals can draw on the work-based responsibilities that they undertake in each academic year.

Entry Requirements > GCSE- English, Maths and Science at grade C/4 or above. (Equivalent level 2 functional skills in numeracy and literacy). > Advanced level – minimum 96 UCAS points (240 pre - 2017) attained through BTEC Advanced or AS/A level provision or Sport or Health related advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3 or Access Course. > Prospective students will be required to successfully complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check. > Mature applicants without the threshold academic credentials will be considered on an individual basis and will be subject to an initial assessment of numeracy and literacy, extended writing and analytical and evaluative academic skills. > The Sussex Vocational Progression Accord guarantees a selection interview for applicants with NVQ and professional qualifications at level 3.

Fees & Funding > Tuition fees- £6,000 per annum. > Other costs, including kit pack, contribution to travel and DBS check fee total approximately £250 in Year 1 and £200 in Year 2. > Tuition fee and maintenance grants available through Student Finance England. gov.uk/contact-student-finance-england
