Little Eggs This monthWe will enjoy trying yummy pancakes to celebrate pancake day. We will also be creating beautiful sentimental Valentines gifts for our loved ones. Our babies absolutely love musical instruments and singing songs so we will make sure we have lots of music time in February. We have welcomed new friends over the last couple of months so we will continue building bonds together and enjoy lots of cuddles to bond.

Acknowledgements A big congratulations to our Nicole who is expecting a baby in July– you are already having lots of practise and will be a fantastic Mummy.

Other bits and bobs One of our lovely mummies is running the London Marathon in April. If you would like to donate then the link is on the front page of this newsletter.

Ideas for home This month an idea to try at home is creating yummy pancakes together as a family.

Caterpillars This monthThis year we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year by making dragons and creating dog masks. To really get into the experience we will play Chinese music and provide sensory experiences such as Exploration/interest trays and playdough. For this years Pancake day children will be using scented playdough so that they can act out making pancakes along with other pretend food. They will also get the chance to make their very own pancakes that they can then eat. Pancake races will be taking place in the garden which will be followed by reading ‘Mr Wolf’s pancakes’. On Valentines Day the children will get a chance to really express their feelings by talking about them and creating cards for their Mums and Dads. Cooking gingerbread hearts will also allow them to show the love on this special day. Finally they will be reading ‘Guess how much I love you’ to help their understanding of the theme love.

Acknowledgements This month we will be saying goodbye to Chelsea Bell Savage as she has now qualified. We wish her the best of luck in the future.

Other bits and bobs Please send in some photos of our families; Mums, Dads, pets and siblings etc. For our display! Please check lost property by the front door. A friendly reminder to label all clothes!

Ideas for home– Talk about feelings! This month an idea to try at home is to try and provide an opportunity for everyone to talk about their feelings. Are they Sad, happy, frustrated, excited?

Blossom This monthWe will be celebrating Pancake Day , Valentines Day and Chinese New Year. We will enjoy activities relating to the topics and making new friends and being kind and showing love.! If you have anything you can bring in from home to celebrate these days, please don’t hesitate. The children are loving Forest School and this continues through February just having a break whilst the holiday club takes place in half term. We will make sure we get out and look at bulbs starting to pop through and new growth as hopefully the days get a little brighter.

Acknowledgements Thank you to our lovely students and apprentices who work so hard in Blossom, we really do appreciate everything you do, whilst you are studying so hard.

Other bits and bobs If your child is potty training lots of spare clothes (easy to put on e.g. jogging pants) are great please. If you have any spare trousers girls or boys, we always welcome them! If you have any concerns about your child's health and well-being please let us know as we have regular discussions with our SENCO

Ideas for home Please talk to your child about their family members and maybe even look for red things during Valentines Day. You could have a special Valentines tea and talk about shapes. Pancakes are really delicious too! Chinese New Year is in the same few days.. So what a lot of celebrations!

Butterflies This monthWe will be continuing our dinosaur theme, the children are amazing us with the knowledge they are sharing with us. We will be using different media to make dinosaurs including clay, and making new discoveries in our dinosaur den. There will also be some cooked dinosaur treats coming home. We will be celebrating the Chinese New Year talking about how it is celebrated and trying some Chinese food. Valentines Day will be a time to talk about who we love and making some heart biscuits to share with our loved ones.

Pancake day will be a fun filled day with Pancake races in the garden.

Acknowledgements Congratulations to Ethan on becoming a big brother to Evelyn.

Other bits and bobs Please remember we do have a good amount of our day free flowing so children do need warm clothes, including winter coats, hats and gloves. Please remember to name all clothing as we do have 28 children some days, thank you.

Ideas for home There is a dinosaur island play area within South water Country Park which is free, only charges are made for parking. This would make a great weekend trip out for the whole family.

Forest School We have had a lovely few weeks in Forest School taking part in activities such as learning about the Owl Babies, peeling carrots, enjoying hot chocolate and learning how to use a bow saw. The children end their session by choosing what they would like to cook on the open fire. We will be enjoying some similar activities with the new sessions that start after February half term.

Other bits and bobs Our Forest School holiday club is open again this February half term for children age reception– 12 years.

Ideas for home The children are getting good at using a peeler. Why not let them practise this at home by helping peel vegetables at meal times!
