intro The purpose of this guide is to provide students with information about travel to and from Haywards Heath College. Every effort has been made to ensure that the information supplied within the guide is correct at the time of publication. Students and their parent/carers should check with service providers to ensure that published costs and timetables are current and correct. Walking & cycling The pedestrian routes into our campus There are pedestrian and bicycle accesses to the college site at Harlands Road and Turners Mill Road. The Harlands Road and Turners Mill Road entrances lead to a well-lit pedestrian footpath to the main building and car park. There are bicycle spaces on site close to the main entrance.


Car or motorcycle For staff: > Free bicycle and motorbike parking to left of Harlands Road Main Reception > Free disabled parking for blue badge holders in designated bays off Harlands Road – permit must be displayed > Car parking available off Turners Mill Road in designated bays – 3 payment options : > Termly or annual season ticket - payment via payroll only (not cash or card) – Reception have application forms – 1 permit valid across all CCG sites (only pay once per term / year) > Daily scratch cards bought from another CCG campus can be displayed as daily payment if travelling between sites (only pay once per day) > Using an App (to be advised), daily text parking facility (50p) to a registered monitoring website (only pay once per day if travelling between sites)

Sussex Student Card With a Sussex Student Card students who are in full time Further Education in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove can receive 34% discounts on the price of rail season tickets. Unizone Unizone is a ticket that is exclusively available for students in the Sussex area. Students who travel on the south coastline, especially those with longer journeys, may find the Unizone ticket cheaper. You can buy Unizone tickets weekly, monthly, or quarterly from any staffed ticket office at a station in the Unizone area. 16 – 25 Railcard A 16 – 25 Railcard currently costs £30, and will save you up to 1/3 on a wide range of tickets, including all Standard and First Class Advance fares. For all current 16 – 25 Railcard information, check online at: railcard.co.uk

16 – 17 Saver Railcard This is a scheme launched by the government which offers 50% off rail fares for £30. For all current 16 – 17 Railcard information, check online at: railcard.co.uk


Bus There are several buses which bring you within a short walk from Haywards Heath College. Compass Bus 33 This bus goes from Hurstpierpoint, through Burgess Hill into Haywards Heath, just outside the Sainsbury’s at the bottom of Harlands Road, which is just a 5-minute walk from the college entrance. Compass Bus 62 This bus starts at Crawley bus station, and goes through Cuckfield to stop outside the Sainsbury’s in Harlands Road, Haywards Heath, which is just a 5-minute walk from the college entrance. Compass Bus 89 This bus begins at Horsham bus station and travels through Warninglid, Bolney and Cuckfield. This bus stops outside Sainsbury’s in Harlands Road which is just a 5-minute walk from the college entrance. Compass Bus 166 This bus starts at Lewes bus station, and goes through Plumpton, Wivelsfield and stops at the Sainsbury’s in Harlands Road, which is just a 5-minute walk from the college. Compass Buss 31 This bus goes from Uckfield, through Newick, Chailey and stops on Perrymount Road by Haywards Heath Station.


Metrobus 270, 271, 272 All buses start in Brighton, and go through Pyecombe, Hassocks, Burgess Hill and Wivelsfield. The bus stops at Haywards Heath Station which is just a 10-minute walk from the college. westsussex.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/travel-and-public-transport/ bus-and-coach-travel/

3i-D Card (East Sussex) If you are in training, work, studying, or have lived in East Sussex for over a year and are aged between 11 – 19 years old then you are eligible for the 3i-D Card. This card is a legal form of ID, which requires a passport style photograph. With the 3i-D Card you can buy a Freedom ticket, which gives you unlimited travel on a wide range of buses in East Sussex for 7 days (including Saturday and Sunday). It is important that you check with bus operators before travelling to ensure that they accept and issue Freedom tickets. For more information, check online at: 3i-d.co.uk/


Funding Bursary Scheme and Discretionary Fund If you are over 16 and under 19 as of the 31st August 2020, and meet certain criteria you may be eligible for financial support. Students can apply for a Learning Support Grant, which provides financial help with the cost of studies, travel, books, course materials, and trips. Students can be apply for the learning support grant online. Click here to apply. If you are 19 or older from the 31st August 2020 you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
