Little Eggs This month Maximus, Travis and Ella are all joining Little Eggs and we are very excited to continue getting to know them! We are going to be focusing on group activities to provide lots of stimulating opportunities for the babies to build new bonds and relationships whilst continuing to build on existing friendships. We will also be taking part in a variety of group activities such as music and movement, creative messy play, outings to the park and shops, physical challenges and lots more! Look out for these in the weekly email photos!

Other bits and bobs Please provide family photos if you haven't already for our display board!

Ideas for home Take a look at our summer fun display outside the office. There are great ideas of places to go and dates for upcoming events in the local area.

Caterpillars This month A big welcome to Fintan, Seb, Sienna and Sophie who have moved up from Little Eggs. We are really looking forward to having you with us! This month we will be looking at the seaside! We will be changing our role play area corner into an ice cream van and talking about the different things we can see at the seaside.

We will be using a variety of messy play activities such as creating our own sea with water play and sea animals, creating fish art, making beach sensory bottles, creating our own beach and even going for a trip to the seafront! Ann is now off for the summer holidays– we will see her again in September- Enjoy your summer Ann!

Acknowledgements Goodbye to Freya, Finnley, Florence, Amelie, Dylan and Ciaran and have lots of fun in Blossom! We will miss you all.

Other bits and bobs Please can you ensure children’s clothes are labelled including shoes and coats. Although we support the use of comforters within Caterpillars, we are finding a lot of children are bringing toys from home which are getting lost. Please limit what they bring to avoid any upset!

Ideas for home Take a trip to the beach and see if you can find a sea-anemone or a crab! Look out for boats, windturbines, lighthouses and other exciting things– don’t forget to send us your photos!

Blossom This month We welcome Florence, Dylan, Freya, Finley, Anja, Amelie. B, Amelie. M and Ciaran. We will also be welcoming our new apprentice Becky and saying a sad goodbye to Elle who leaves on 11th August. Good luck in your new career Elle! This month we will be practicing for our Sports Day on Monday 7th August– doing a variety of different games on the field and using our voices to cheer! We look forward to seeing you there! We are going to be talking about friendships with our new friends from Caterpillars, playing together and helping them settle in. We will also be learning and teaching the sharing song with our new friends– this will encourage the sharing of our toys!

Acknowledgements Good luck to all of the children moving to Butterflies! Goodbye to Joshua and Emily, we will miss you.

Other bits and bobs Please can we label all belongings and take anything home at the end of the week.

Ideas for home Talk with your children about their new room, get them comfortable with the idea to ensure a smoother transition.

Butterflies This month Congratulations to Sarah. C on getting her new role as room leader! This month we will be continuing to look at minibeasts and going on lots of nature walks to see where they live. The children were very excited watching our caterpillars grow and develop into beautiful butterflies. We were able to release them, before too many of our butterflies left us. We will be encouraging some of our older children to look after our new butterflies, helping them with getting used to our routines. We are all looking forward to our sports day on Monday 7th August and have been busy practicing!

Acknowledgements Thank you to all you lovely parents who have given so much support to the nursery; helping on trips, coming in to talk to the children and encouraging your children to become more independent.

Well done to all the children who grew their sunflowers– the winners were Georgia, Rhys and Toby. W! Thank you to Archie who is Millie’s from Blossom’s brother for coming in to talk to our school leavers about school and help reassure them about the upcoming change in their lives. It was lovely to see you. Thank you from all the Butterfly team for all the great cards with thoughtful messages and presents. We will miss you all.

Other bits and bobs It is a very emotional time of the year for us all as we say farewell to so many children; 43 this year! We wish you all the very best in your next chapters in your lives and thank you all for the many hours of fun we have shared!

Ideas for home For school leavers– lots of labelling of clothes in preparation for school. Everyone enjoy the lovely summer weather exploring the surroundings and minibeast habitats– maybe even make a butterfly feeder to encourage butterflies into your garden.

Forest School This month we will be having forest school fun in the garden. We have a mud kitchen, growing area and seating area where the children love to look for minibeasts, water the plants and talk about nature. Our courgettes have been incorporated into our lunch menu by Denise and our radishes tried by the children and the tomatoes (kindly donated) are growing well with all this rain! Also, thank you to Ferring Nursery for the donated plants we have put in. We know the children love to visit forest school however this month the holiday club are in attendance so we will visit the nature trail and field and look forward to more visits to Forest School in September.

Ideas for home When it is really hot, walking in the woods is a welcome respite and there are deer, birds and many farm animals at Angmering Bluebell woods so do visit if you can. Otherwise rock pools are brilliant places to find crabs and other living things!
