This month, we will be making beautiful Christmas decorations for you to take home all made by your babies themselves! We will be celebrating Christmas the week of the 18th December by enjoying festive foods all week. Please write your name against an item of food that you could contribute towards our party week if you wish! If your child has a dietary requirement, please bring in suitable food! (This list will be on Little Eggs door). Christmas outfits can also be worn that week if you would like– we would love to see some wonderful costumes!

Acknowledgements Lots of our babies have learnt to crawl and taken a few steps! Well done babies!

Other bits and bobs Please keep us updated with any changes to routines, we are very happy to adapt to their needs.

Ideas for home Make Christmas cards for the family– take part in messy activities and have some wonderful bonding time together over the Christmas period.

Caterpillars This month We will be focusing on Christmas! We will be holding a Christmas party (invites to come!) and having lots of craft activities such as handprint wreaths and clay ornaments to decorate the room and send home. We will be using lots of sensory bins to encourage messy exploration and speaking. We will also be taking a trip to local areas to see how other people celebrate Christmas.

Other bits and bobs Please can we have any tuna tins you would usually recycle for our craft/baking activities– thank you!

Ideas for home Why not write a letter to Santa or go and see the Christmas lights in town? Our children are all enjoying singing so how about singing along to a good Christmas tune when out and about in the car?

Blossom This month Christmas is an exciting time at nursery and we are looking forward to the celebrations! We have organised our Christmas party for Tuesday 12th December and we will hopefully be doing some singing for the senior citizens on Friday 1st December! We are really enjoying making Christmas themed art and getting out in the wintery weather! We are singing seasonal songs and supporting the children by encouraging them to use their words and to use kind hands. We also welcome Grace to Blossom, we are looking forward to getting to know you more and more!

Acknowledgements Sarah. C has passed the first unit of her Level 4 advanced practitioner qualification. Both her and Sarah. T are working very hard to achieve their Level 4 in childcare! Thank you for the participation in Children in Need. It was a great day and the children did so well selling cakes!

Other bits and bobs If you have anything hat you would like to donate to us to use for a raffle prize in our Christmas Fair, we would be most grateful. All raffle money is going to St. Barnabas charity. If your child is due to move up in January, you should have received an email to arrange a transition meeting. If you have not yet arranged this, please do so as soon as possible. Bring your children in during December in Christmas costumes if you would like! We look forward to seeing some great outfits!

Ideas for home Why not talk about family gatherings and share with us any special family get-togethers you have planned over the festive season. We like to talk/listen at circle time about family events. Blossom would like to wish you compliments of the season and we can’t believe its nearly 2018!

Butterflies This month This month is going to be a busy, festive, fun filled one. We are busy learning our songs and roles for the nativity and we will be practicing ready to sing to some of the local seniors at the college conference centre. We will be visiting Offington Park Church to see their nativity display and do some singing under their large Christmas tree. We will also be creating a variety of Christmas themed artwork, including Christmas cards, calendars and decorations so expect lots of sparkle. We will be looking at how Father Christmas travels and having a go at making our own sleigh! Our Christmas party will be on Tuesday 19th December– more information to follow regarding food and times. Not forgetting the yearly panto on Friday 8th December; Christmas is such an exciting time for us all.

Acknowledgements Super hero/ prince/ princess day was a brilliant success. Chelsea got a real surprise when she came into the room; well done everyone for making it so special! It was amazing to see so many parents attending the recent parents evening. Thank you to everyone who attended. Thank you for all the cake donations for Children in Need. The children had such a great time selling them around the college with such good manners!

Other bits and bobs Congratulations to Harry’s family on the arrival of their beautiful little girl Sienna. Harry is an awesome big brother! Please remember to label all hats, gloves and coats. Now that it is getting colder, more clothes are coming in and getting mislaid.

Ideas for home Enjoy the festive month, sharing stories on those cold evenings and writing letters to Father Christmas.

Forest School This month we have been taking new groups out into the forest to look for bugs and minibeasts. Children have loved exploring their surroundings and looking for the various bugs. We also had hot chocolate in the kelly kettle. This time, we have done mixed groups of Blossom and Butterfly children which has worked well. Blossom have also been doing their own literature groups. Caterpillars have been spending Thursday afternoons in forest school. They loved mud painting and have loved exploring the leaves. They will also be having a hot chocolate out there soon!

Ideas for home Forest School craft goes so well with Christmas. You can make wreaths, decorate pine cones, make different decorations– there are lots of possibilities!
