General information We welcome back Raina who is back from maternity leave as our new Deputy. She starts on the 2nd July We look forward to having her back with us in the nursery. Sadly our Administration apprentice, Sophie, has decided it is not the career for her. We wish her lots of luck in the future. We will be recruiting for a new apprentice soon and will keep you posted. A huge thank you to all the wonderful daddies, grandads, uncles and step dads that came to our fathers’ day tea. We hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did. We came 7th in the Herald Nursery of the year competition. Thank you for your votes. We have a busy month ahead with lots of fun in the sun. Please remember suitable cool clothes such as t shirts, shorts and loose clothing. Have a wonderful month enjoying the lovely weather!

Monthly website With the hot weather, can come some health problems such as hay fever, insect bites, heat exhaustion and sunburn. It can be useful to look at the NHS website for advice. www.nhs.uk

Little Eggs This month The weather is starting to improve and we are due very hot weather in the next couple of weeks, so we will be putting sun cream on our babies regularly. Please provide sun cream for us apply to your child or you can pay (ÂŁ1 for every day they attend in a week as a one off payment) to use ours provided. We will enjoy lots of water play, both inside and outside to keep us cool. We also hope to take small walks out onto the field and pick some flowers. We would love some beautiful paintings from our babies to put up on our display board. Therefore we will be getting messy and creating wonderful pictures! Every child has a drawer outside of the room, please check it regularly and take home any pictures and paperwork.

Getting to know the staff—This month we will be focusing on Jodie our room leader. I hold a degree in Primary Education and Teaching. This month I have gained my Qualified Teacher Status, which will now allow me to teach in a Primary School in the future. I like to keep fit and go to the gym, especially Combat classes at Lancing Manor. I am currently training towards the Brighton half marathon in February 2019.

Ideas for home Enjoy family days out in the sunshine, remember to put sun cream and a hat on! Encourage babble and single words from your baby, their speech is developing and they will start to say their first word. How exciting!


Caterpillars Welcome to Arla and Sophie who have moved up from Little Eggs.

This month We will be looking at ‘under the sea.’ Throughout this month we will be using our imagination as we make underwater caves, play with the under sea critters and create a variety of under sea pictures using different crafts. We will also be taking a trip to the beach where we will look at sea critters, ‘mermaid purses’ shells and stones. We will have lunch there and collect some objects to bring back to nursery.

Getting to know the staff This month we will focus on Cat our room leader: My name is Cat. I have a foundation degree in early years and childhood studies which is equivalent Level 5. I enjoy crafting and being outdoors. I am told I am very good at baking cakes.

Other bits and bobs We are collecting plastic bottles if anyone has any they could donate. Thanks in advance.

Ideas for home Why not take a trip to the beach to paddle, make pebble towers and explore the beach.


Blossom This month We are building bonds with the caterpillar children that will be moving up this summer. Children have been popping in for a play with their key person. Similarly children from blossom have been in the butterfly room enjoying the different toys. This month we will be supporting our older blossom children flourish and welcome the caterpillars, we are looking forward to watching our vegetables grow and picking our strawberry X . This month we will be learning about growing and continue gardening and exploring the college. We have loved visiting the sensory garden outside of the east cafe.

This month we will be focusing on

Sarah Camp our room leader I have nearly finished my advanced practitioner level 4. 1 more unit to go! I am An HLTA (Higher level teaching assistant) and a qualified Forest School Leader I enjoy up cycling furniture, gardening and DIY. My favourite drink is G&T and I have a twin brother and twin brother and sister .

Ideas for home Why don't you... Plant cress, Visit pick your own, Visit high down gardens, Look for crabs in rock pools, Visit the beach and paint rocks Keep safe down the beach and enjoy the summer


Butterflies This month We will be very busy, starting with our world cup themed sports day. We have got several school trips planned for some of our school leavers, we also have teachers coming in from the children's new schools. We have our leavers party on July 18th 2018, to which parents are invited from 3:30pm to join in the celebrations. We will be continuing our Barnaby and friends holidays and days out theme, as the children have had lots of great ideas for things to do. Including making pizzas in Italy, ice cream tastings, watching Barnaby bears adventures and sharing our own holidays/days out with our friends. We hope that with the weather being so warm we will be able to make the most of the field/forest school and the local park, giving the children lots of fun days out together before their new chapters start at Big school.

Acknowledgements Thank you to all the parents that helped out at the Washbrook farm trip. We could not do trips like this without your help and support.

Other bits and bobs We will be collecting in all reading books during the week commencing 9th July 2018, as we start to say goodbye to our School leavers . The children have really enjoyed the experience of shared reading and this has given the children and you as parents a good start on regular reading which is such an important part of their development.

Getting to know the staff— This month we focus on Donna our room leader. I have a foundation degree in Early Years. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and cooking. I especially like making cakes.

Ideas for home - For School leavers -Try to encourage some independence with rubbing in and putting on sun cream as many schools can not help with this. For everyone– enjoy some summer family time. A stroll down the beach, a trip to the park or a visit to the theatre or museum. There are some great shows coming up including Peppa Pig and Guess How Much I Love You.


Forest School The children are thoroughly enjoying our fantasy/fairy theme. Check out our Instagram for photos. If you know anybody who is forest school trained and would like to do some hours in the holidays please contact Sarah camp forest school manager on f.school@worthin.ac.uk This month we will continue taking children to the forest and get ready for the Holiday club that starts on the 31st July until 31st August. The nursery children will continue to use the nature trail during his time

Other bits and bobs Thank you to parents who have donated wood for our fire and kitchen saucepans for our mid kitchen Some children do seem t be suffering from hay fever so please seek advice from your dr.

Ideas for home A picnic in the garden is a lovely change and all our children love to visit the cool woods on a hot day.
