The moon phases were calculated using the HM Nautical Almanac (astro.ukho.gov.uk/websurf). The seasonal fishing predictions were provided by the fisher men in the committee and consolidated by Jesse Rosario. The farming information on peak, moderate and unavailable times for local fruits and vegetables was provided by Bill McDonald, John Naputi, Jose “Joe” Naputi, Marilyn Salas and Joseph and Marcia Tedtaotao of the Pacific Farmers Cooperative. This calendar features the first, second, third and fourth place winners of the art contests held on Guam on the theme of “Pumeska yan Gumualo’ Sigon gi Pilan yan Tiempo” (Fishing and Farming to the Cycles of the Moon and Seasons). The contest asked students to draw or paint a poster that illustrates a traditional Pumeska yan Gumualo’ or contemporary fishing or farming activity related to a moon phase, month or season.
