Membership Information Residency Information
Resident fees apply to those who live or work in the city limits of Worthington, including spouses and school-aged children of those households. These households and companies pay taxes that support the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department and therefore pay the resident rate for memberships, programs, and rentals. All others pay the listed non-resident rate. • Two proofs of residency are required at the time of registration to receive the resident rate. Examples of proof are a valid driver’s license, check with address, utility bill, or bank statement. • Working Residents must work a minimum 20 hours a week for a company in the City limits of Worthington. Verification of payment of Worthington City taxes is required at the time of registration to receive the resident discount price. Acceptable verification is an original pay stub, dated within 30 days, that specifically denotes Worthington taxes being withheld.

Aquatics/Swimming Lessons Parent/Child Aquatic Classes Tiny Tots
Little Nemos
This class is also referred to as Parent Child Aquatics Level 1. A parent is required in the water with the child. The Tiny Tot swim class introduces basic skills to both the parents and the children. Parents will learn to work with their child including how to support and hold their child and prepare the child to try the skills on their own. Children are introduced to basic skills such as blowing bubbles, kicking their legs, floating on front and back, underwater exploration and much more.
This class is also referred to as Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2. A parent is required in the water with the child. This class is for those children ready to move up from the Tiny Tots (Parent & Child Aquatics Level 1) but are not yet old enough or ready for Flounder or Guppy I. Here the children improve on the skills learned in Tiny Tots. Children should be comfortable in the water and be able to move around by themselves with a parent or adult nearby.

Cinderella sees beautiful things in her daydreams and tries to live her little, starved life in a way to deserve them. She provides Cinderella with a dress, which puts her sisters’ glamorous gowns to shame, and sends her off to the ball in a golden coach. At the ball, she captivates the prince. But she stays too long, loses her slipper and escapes pursuit only after a breathless chase. The next day, when the prince comes looking for his lost princess, he tries the slipper on both stepsisters. Each sister tries vainly to make the slipper fit, and the prince is ready to leave before he discovers his princess. Instructor: Candace Mazur-Darman #21651 #21652

We may travel to other areas of the pool to further enhance our workout. We end our session with abdominal work and more stretching. Get a great water workout with us in the river. It’s fun. The Language of Fans
Age: 18Y and up • Town Hall
Ladies’ hand fans have been in existence for hundreds of years and they have been made in America from about 1840. The most famous American Fan maker was Hunt Allen and there will be an example of a Hunt Allen fan in the program. All during the Victorian Period every fashionable lady would have carried a fan and soon this little “modish machine” produced a sign language all its own. Invitations were given by it and suitors were sent running in despair by it. Learning the language was a necessary part of a polished lady or gent’s education and a demonstration of the language of fans will be part of the program. Ladybugs and Buckeyes were given a large collection of fans in 2010 and with the help of the curator of the North American Fan Association, all 200 have been photographed and identified. There will be about 18 of the collection brought to the program. The Worthington Historical Society will also have several fans on display from their collection. Following the demonstration and show, decorate a fan of your own to take home. Lemonade and cookies will be served. Sponsored by the Worthington Historical Society and the Griswold Center. #22671 Wed Fee: $5

Shorter class—try out this method! Feldenkrais lessons may be done standing, sitting or lying down. They explore basic movements in great detail, in a gentle manner that evokes in adults the quick, spontaneous learning of young children. This “reprograms” the brain for better posture and self-image, greater ease and pleasure in movement, and fuller relaxation in rest. Chronic tension, pain, anxiety, disability, and effects of aging are not confronted directly, but are simply left behind in a natural process of learning and improvement. Students are often surprised to find that the smallest and most gentle work produces the most profound changes. This method was developed by the late Israeli physicist Moshe Feldenkrais. Teachers and teacher trainings are certified by the Feldenkrais Guild. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Instructor: Melinda Murphy Aug 27–Sep 17

The fear of falling is one of our strongest phobias, and injuries from accidental falls have become epidemic, but little has been done to help people actually learn how to fall. There are basic movements you can learn at any age that will greatly reduce your chance of serious injury from a fall. Learning how to fall safely is the primary purpose of the Fearless Falling classes. Based on Tai-Chi kungfu, you will also learn how to move smoothly, avoid falls, improve your balance and awareness, and pick up some basic self-defense skills. Fearless Falling is open to all adults, but you should be physically able to get up from floor level by yourself. Black-belt instructor Mike Grigsby has been teaching kungfu and falling skills for over twenty-five years.
