The four elementary schools include Parsons Memorial Elementary and Harrison Avenue Elementary, which was honored as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education. OUR RECREATIONS Recreational resources
Harrison Recreational Resources offer something for almost everyone. For the athletically inclined of all ages, the town’s outstanding Recreation Department hosts soccer, lacrosse and football leagues in addition to Little League, and the Recreation Commission maintains parks and recreation centers with tennis courts, swimming pools, basketball courts, ball fields and playgrounds. West Harrison, also known as the Silver Lake area offers swimming, boating, camping, picnicking and hiking along many acres of trails. Golfers can take their pick from Harrison’s many private country clubs and golf courses, including the Westchester Country Club, site of the annual Westchester Golf Classic. Cyclers are often seen biking on Harrison’s open country roads. The Purchase Community House provides recreational and enrichment programs for the residents of Purchase and surrounding communities. They provide pre-school and after school programs during the school year, an eight week day camp for ages 3 to 15 and an outdoor family pool program in the summer.
Those who appreciate music, dance and the fine arts will find no shortage of events and attractions to explore. The Harrison Council for the Arts sponsors programs from Friends of the Opera and Shakespeare in the Park to summer concert series and monthly exhibits at the library. Important art collections are found within the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Garden at the PepsiCo headquarters as well as the Neuberger Museum at SUNY Purchase. Theater, ballet, orchestral and other performances are regularly held at Manhattanville College and SUNY Purchase Center for the Arts.
