Dear Friends,

I t is my great pleasure to introduce Wykeham Rise — a new luxury inn, restaurant, and spa in Washington, Connecticut. Currently in development on twenty-seven bucolic acres just 80 miles from New York City, Wykeham Rise reimagines the country inn for the 21st Century. Guests and Members will discover this property as the ideal merging of sleek, modern amenities with the tranquility, comfort, and style that Litchfield County is famous for. Designed for each season and for the most sophisticated tastes, Wykeham Rise is a vibrant space offering each visitor a special experience where sumptuous food and epicurean comforts are placed alongside expertly selected cultural and outdoor activities. From food and drink to design and sport, our intention is to celebrate this exceptional location’s natural riches. Most exciting is Wykeham Rise is designed and operated by one of the premier hotel management companies in the world, the Ocean House. As a member of Ocean House’s collection of properties, Wykeham Rise will continue Ocean House’s tradition of world class service, operational excellence, and commitment to its local communities. Ocean House, and renown interior designer, Karen Davis, have created both public rooms and guest suites for enduring appeal, blending modern and vintage pieces for a beautifully stylish and warm aesthetic. Bruce Glickman and Wilson Henley, owners of one of Manhattan’s top showrooms, Duane, which specializes in distinctive mid-century modern antiques, provided custom furniture and design advisory. I am extremely proud of this project. In 2008 when I purchased the property, I had one goal in mind — to build a community asset. Having called Washington home for sixteen years and spent my life in Litchfield County, this project is very personal. For me, Washington is about the timeless simplicity and beauty of nature, community, and family – all of which I look forward to sharing with you and your family. I invite you all to join this exciting new addition to Washington.

- Erika Klauer, Owner, Wykeham Rise

Dear Owners,

We are privileged to have been selected to oversee the operations of Wykeham Rise and look forward to creating a world class resort destination. Those who are familiar with our flagship property in Watch Hill Rhode Island, Ocean House, will be familiar with our commitment to delivering the highest level of luxury services and personalized experiences, while operating under a philosophy that all our resorts are strong contributors to their communities. In joining Erika on this journey, we feel that we have found an ideal partner who shares our values of community, sense of place, and personalized luxury. Like at Ocean House, the suite owners at Wykeham Rise will enjoy all the luxuries and accoutrements of a hotel guest, in units which are in prime locations in the building, and finished with thoughtful design, attention to detail, and quality construction to create a luxury vacation suite. You will enjoy complete privacy, additional space, and all of the conveniences of a luxury inn suite, from fully equipped kitchens to comfortable furnishings, a personal suite manager, and all of the services that our hotels have become known for. Owners can opt to place their suites in our rental share program thereby deriving revenue when they are not staying with us as a guest, and secure in the knowledge that the personal suite manager is overseeing the care and maintenance of their suite at all times. We look forward to creating a unique destination in Washington, and hope to have the pleasure of having you along for the journey.

Welcome to Wykeham Rise

The Country Suites

The Country Suites are available in a range of styles – from an intimate 785-square-foot onebedroom to a 4,300-square-foot four-bedroom duplex – all with outdoor space. Owners will have the option to select a Country Suite in either the main building or any of the three standalone cottages. The buildings, constructed of wood, shingle and stone, evoke a rustic yet elegant style while interiors mix modern and vintage for a sophisticated yet unassuming effect. All will enjoy access to the farm to table restaurant, spa and fitness, hilltop pool club, Treetops Library, and all the daily classes and activities.

The Sugar House

Our restaurant is called The Sugar House, a nod to the 18th century New England effort to produce maple syrup in order to reduce dependence on the Sugar Trade. This tradition of local sourcing lives on today as the menu will source local ingredients for seasonally inspired menus. The dining room is designed to appeal to all patrons, taking a casual approach but with an exceptional attention to detail.

Members Dining

Our Members Dining room will enjoy many of the same choices of The Sugar House menus but will offer owners, members, and invited guests a more intimate dining venue. The dining room will be tailored towards conversation between old friends and new over an exceptional culinary experience in a beautiful room overlooking the property grounds.

Treetops Library

Treetops Library is located on the fourth floor of the main building with long views to the West through floor to ceiling windows. In the mornings and afternoons, guests may enjoy an espresso or freshly squeezed orange juice while perusing daily newspapers from around the world, including the Wall Street Journal, FT, New York Times and Variety. Our Library is also a spot for friends to gather and watch special events such as the US Open Tennis or the Oscars on a hidden screen. The library transforms at sunset to an intimately scaled place to meet for a drink, light bite or good read by the roaring fire.

Spa and Fitness

Our 10,620-square-foot spa and fitness building is located just across from the main building. Experience the ultimate in pampering with seven private treatment rooms, separate men’s and women’s steam rooms, sauna, and dedicated relaxation lounges. The fitness center will offer a holistic approach with both organized daily hikes outdoors led by the resident naturalist, as well as extensive indoor class selections ranging from yoga to strength training and Pilates.

Swim Club

Sitting at one of the property’s higher elevations with long westerly views, our pool house is perfect for swimming, exercise, relaxation, and enjoyment. Here, guests can enjoy full bar service and al fresco dining. In wintertime, the pool house will also serve as a chalet for sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and after, for a cozy fireside spot for hot cocoa or warm brandy.
