What is candy? Candy is basically crystallized sugar or a confection made with sugar. Sugar is made up of 3 molecules. What is a molecule? A molecule is a group of atoms held together in a chemical bond by sharing electrons. They are the smallest part of a compound that can experience a chemical reaction. The three molecules that make upsugar are glucose, galactose and fructose. Fructose is the molecule that makes sugar sweet and any extras of that one molecule (fructose) can cause major diseases. When someone eats the sugar the molecules in it give you energy (http:/ /www.chemistryviews.org/). When sugar is heated it becomes liquid, as a result of a chemical reaction of the molecules, and so is able to flow. Melting/heating sugar and chocolate

I would like to think of myself as a healthy eater. I try not to eat much meat during the week and I always eat a variety vegetables. Nevertheless, I have this weakness that renders all my attempts at healthy eating D.O.A. Of course I am talking about candy. Even thought it is almost completely made of sugar, I cannot get enough. Everyone has their favorite candy; some may like sour or sweet while othersstick to the classics; chocolate or camel. The only problem is I like them all so narrowing it down is not easy. I think the...show more content... I am sure my kids will think I am strange, when I go buy myself big bag of skittles. Other people may want a better description, but the best way has to be to actually go out and try them first hand. I am sure we have all seen or heard about taffy. What I would think would come to mind to most people when I would say something regarding taffy might be something concerning saltwater taffy. I love saltwater taffy. It seems that it is not in great supply around here. The only place I know of is somewhere like the cracker barrel. Needless to say I never go to cracker barrel, and it is a little more than I feel comfortable spending on candy. So I find myself resorting to a childhood favorite, laffy taffy. It is sold everywhere, and it is very inexpensive. I really started to like it when I played baseball as a kid. After the game I would always try to pump mom or dad for a few cents to stock up. It never made it home. I would somehow eat my entire entire stockpile. Whoever came up with the idea of putting jokes inside the wrapper is a very rich man. I could not help but to try to unwrap one more. The way the jokes where printed on the wrapper was very smart too. They would put one joke half way on the wrapper so it made me want to know the end of the joke, genius really.

Have you ever heard that too much television can ruin a child's mind? Malcolm Gladwell proposes in his article, "Brain Candy," that playing video games or watching television is just as important as reading a book. Gladwell is using rhetorical appeals to prove that in fact, video games are not dumbing down society. Popculture is helping to improve test scores and knowledge. In "Brain Candy," Malcolm Gladwell does affectively use rhetorical appeals to convince his audience that pop culture is making our society smarter. First, Gladwell effectively appeals to logos. Gladwell appeals to logic through statistics. In the opening paragraph, Gladwell cites statistics by James Flynn: "But if you took out the recalibration, Flynn found, I.Q....show more content...
Conclusively, Gladwell uses pathos. Gladwell appeals to emotions through vivid images. Gladwell states that "Unlike the longstanding tradition of gameplaying which engages the child in a vivid, three–dimensional world filled with moving images and musical soundscapes, navigated and controlled with complex muscular movements books are simply a barren string of words on the page." Gladwell is giving an extremely vivid image of someone playing a game, rather than simply reading words written on a page. This proves emotion by being able to see an idea of gameplaying and not just seeing words written on a blank page. Gladwell also appeals to emotions through properties of a book. Gladwell states that "But perhaps the most dangerous property of these books is the fact that they follow a fixed linear path" ("Brain Candy"). This is an example of emotions because books are isolating and not open–minded because they follow a set of distinct rules. In conclusion, pop culture is not dumbing down society; it is, in fact, making society smarter. Malcolm Gladwell uses three different rhetorical appeals to prove this point. Gladwell proposes that playing a game can help a child's mind more so than it would reading a book. Pop culture is given in many different forms, and can help a child use different parts of the brain.

Abstract
My hypothesis is that if I add different amounts of sugar to the same amount of boiling water and allow it to be cooled, than the one with the additional cup of sugar will be the one that grows more crystals. I determined that my hypothesis was correct. The glass I chose to add the pure cane sugar did grow much more crystals at a...show more content...
Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can be made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed when sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden skewer. When the water evaporates the sugarcrystal will start to grow overtime. The water and sugar is a saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By cooling the water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and around the glass. The hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more crystals will form. My question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals?
Experimental Procedure Question: If you add more sugar will more crystals form? Hypothesis: If I add more sugar to the same amount of boiling water, it will grow more crystals. Materials: Observation 1; 1 cup of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 glass jar, 1 wooden skewer, 1 plate and 2 clothespins. Observation 2; 1 cup of water, 3 cups of sugar, 1 glass jar, 1 wooden skewer, 1 plate, 5 drops of red food coloring, and one plate.

Essay on Candy Crush Saga
If someone asks you about what is the most popular game in Facebook or smartphones right now, what would u say? For me, I would like to say "Candy Crush Saga". Candy Crush Saga is a game that was released on April 12, 2012 for Facebook, and then released on November 14, 2012 for smartphones. As today, Candy Crush Saga also released on October 17, 2013 for Kindle Fire. It was developed by King.com. As of March 2013, Candy Crush Saga surpassed FarmVille 2 as the most populargame on Facebook. According to abclocal.go.com, there had more than 45 million people play Candy Crush every month. It's popular with people of all ages, especial in women. King.com, founded in 2003 in the UK, is a casual–social games company, and the largest game...show more content...
King.com is also announcing that it has generated over 5 billion monthly game plays across all platforms.
"In less than 18 months King.com has become the second game developer on the Facebook Platform with 70 million monthly active users. They also built what is the most popular game on Facebook right now: Candy Crush Saga, a game played by almost 10 million people every day, on Facebook.com and on mobile. Only a few technology companies in the world have reached so many people so quickly," said Julien Codorniou, head of European gaming partnerships at Facebook.
Launched in April 2012, Candy Crush Saga continues to attract millions of new players thanks to its popularity on smartphones and tablets. Currently, the game is played over 55 million times a day across mobile platforms. Candy Crush Saga is a match–three game, like Bejeweled, where players match candies to score points and complete a level. Each level is part of an episode and comes with its own particular challenge like: clear all the jelly or bring down all the ingredients. Players can combine regular candies to make special striped candy, wrapped candy, and rainbow candy for amplified movements. Lose a level, and you'll lose a life. You only get five lives at a time, so to keep playing, players have to wait 30 minutes, have Facebook friends send more, or buy new lives.

In this modern society, advertisements stimulate people to buy the advertised products. I picked one advertisement of the Jolly Rancher Candy to analyze. On the picture, an enormous apple is among modern buildings in NYC. The NYC is a city which has many tall buildings in the United States. This ad attracts people by describing amazing taste of the candy with big apple. Even though buildings and an apple are real, the size of the apple is not true in reality. The ad interestingly exaggerates the taste. It conveys the candy company's confidence in a pleasant taste of product. After watching the ad, audience can expect tastiness from the candy. The words "Actual Size" over a candy picture and "Actual Taste" over a huge apple emphasize that a small candy's delicious taste is bigger than a building in NYC. These two words strong impact and clearly convey what the company wants to say....show more content...
The green color makes the apple to be noticeable among same colored modern buildings. Except the green colored apple, colors of other parts, building, river, and sky are monotonous and support existence of the apple. Because this ad is a picture, a presence of the big apple looks like real. All parts of this ad harmonize to promote the Jolly Rancher Candy. However, when I first saw this, I thought this is about Apple company's products or food apple. Without text and pictures of candy, audience might misunderstand the products. So, the short texts do important roles and support the advertising. In conclusion, this ad suggests people to try eat it by stressing apple flavor. As an audience, I felt that I want to know the taste by eating this candy. This advertisement is able to make people to buy the Get more content
Candy Ad Analysis Essay
During the re–engagement lesson, I wanted to deliver an effective lesson in which the students were able to make a connection with everyday life objects and materials. I had other ideas such as using different colored counting chips, but I decided to incorporate elements that were not common in the classroom. I decided to use M&M's candy, as I felt it would have brought more excitement to the lesson. After analyzing the teacher's original lesson as well as the students' work samples, I realized the major challenge that the students faced was a conceptual misunderstanding that made the students struggle with the topic, particularly, pertaining the analysis of the given data. Based on my observation, the students did not understand the purpose of the bar graph and tally chart in coherence with each other. She used the same strategy throughout by which she did surveys by requiring the students to raise their hands to determine "What is their...show more content...
At the end of the lesson, I felt my lesson did give the visual understanding of the concepts and ideas pertaining the presentation and analysis of data using tally charts and bar graphs enabling the students to improve their mastery of the concepts learned. However, in the future, I would scaffold a mini–lesson for the students that had trouble with understanding the question based on the data, especially considering that some of the students were not able to differentiate if the word problem necessitated addition or subtraction. I also feel it would also be effective to guide using demonstrations and help them in rephrasing the current challenges and concepts. By doing so will help them prepare to do so in future so when problems such as this arise they are prepared. This strategy can help them retain the concepts and approaches to solve such problems and have a better understanding of the concepts taught currently and apply them in the
