Talent abounds in Beijing The Class of 2014 and their teachers at Beijing Royal School (BRS) abandoned class, the routines of schooling and formalities to sing and dance the night away during a threehour show at the school’s main auditorium. A healthy mix of Chinese folk-, Korean and Western Pop- and pulsating hip hop music brought loads of cheers from about 500 parents and students in what was to be the farewell gala before graduation on Wednesday 28th May, 2014. Student performances included solos, duets, big group numbers, musical recitals, a teachers’ musical tribute and a theatrical piece depicting the “woes” and “wiles” of life at BRS - all aimed at recalling meaningful memories and making new ones. Several videos were shown on the big screens in the auditorium, demonstrating a healthy sense of humour from experiences in dormitory life to “zombie-invasions” - all of which pointed to the creative talent of these young people who will, no doubt, have plenty to share when most of them start their tertiary education at universities in Australia, USA, UK and Switzerland, amongst others.
