DEPASA INAUGURAL LAUNCH
D EPASA is proud to announce its inaugural launch happening in the 2nd term. Please save this date and be a part of history in D/deaf education as your school signs up for membership. This is truly and exciting time for Deaf Education in South Africa as it is the first Association of its kind in the country. The interim Management Committee, comprised of Principals of 6 schools for the Deaf across South Africa, has been hard at work for the last 2 years establishing the Constitution and various policies of DEPASA so that the groundwork is complete for launch. DEPASA was born out of Principals in South Africa, realizing that it was vital for them to create a platform from which they could voice their challenges and also share best practices with each other. Historically, schools for the Deaf in South Africa have largely operated in isolation which has created very unequal distribution of resources and skills, as well as education levels. Principals of schools for the Deaf have all the same goal: to achieve the best possible education for all Deaf learners. DEPASA will form a platform from where these Principals can lead and also share experiences from the ground as well as come up with solutions to challenges we all face. We urge all principals and deputy principals to come to this conference, let our ‘voices’ be ‘heard’ as we promote quality education for all D/deaf learners.
