I remember What I can remember about my early years is that I lived with my grandma in Zimbabwe. I remember how, every day I would see my cousins go to school and how I helped my grandma cleaning the yard. She had a big yard with lots of plants and flowers...

LOOKING BACK
I
remember how I used to water the flowers. It was back then, when my friends taught me how to ride a bicycle. I also remember my first day at school and how the teachers treated me.
My school years at Kerria Primary School were the most wonderful years of my school life. l never thought l ‘d hear myself say this. As l look back at how things turned out, l could not have wished to have been in any other school. The pupils and teachers made my primary school experience the most wonderful and today l can sit down and write down volumes of the best experiences l had at Kerria Primary School. When I started at Kerria Primary my classmates found out that l was a foreign national and started teasing me about it. It made me feel uneasy, but at the same time happy that they had noticed my presence. I then decided to use this attention to my advantage and worked very hard. My class teacher, Ms Jafta, 6

was impressed with my progress. l excelled and progressed to grade 5. During my Grade 5 year l worked even harder and participated in a lot of school competitions which included Mathematics competitions (MNED) and English competitions. I also ventured into one of the most spectacular drama events in my school, the opera about Rosaline, which made me feel like a celebrity and sharpened my aspirations of being an actor. During grade 5, l also went on a school trip to Durban which lasted seven days. I had the time to mingle with a lot of children in my school and at the same time they got to know me better. We visited a lot of places and l had the time of my life. Grade 5 was a milestone year for me as l also excelled in my academics and won eight diplomas during the end of year diploma ceremony. My teachers, my parents and my fellow pupils were proud of me and this made me feel good about myself and l aimed for the stars.

GRADE 6 Grade 6 was another eventful year. During the first term we had Mrs Mkhaza as our class teacher but she left us to teach a Grade 4 class and then Mr T Mzondi replaced her as our class teacher. I have been used to communicate in English in class, as l wasn’t comfortable in Xhosa, yet l had to adjust very fast to avoid discomfort and the teasing from other learners. Despite my fears l excelled in Xhosa and became so fond of mr Mzondi, who is a hard working teacher.

Grade7
G
rade seven has been one of my most exciting years at Kerria Primary School. I was chosen to be the head boy and that made me proud of myself. However, this title comes with responsibilities and l hope to uplift my school and not disappoint the teachers that entrusted me with such a great responsibility. I am in mr Liedeman’s class, who is one of the best teachers to ever teach me. Being in his class has been a blast.
Academically Grade seven has been challenging. Our teachers had prepared us, but l did not believe and l learned it the hard way, I did not do so well in the first term. As I progressed to the second
term, I made sure I worked hard and passed with flying colours. The third term has been the hardest so far, but l know failing is not an option. I will work hard and pass very well. As I sit here writing, the hardest part is the reality that my journey at Kerria Primary School is about to end. I am proud of my progress but l can’t shake off this anxiety l have of leaving the place that had became my second home. I can’t help but wonder what grade 8 would be like, what the teachers would be like. It is scary to know that l would leave this all behind and begin another life at another school. l sometimes wonder what the learners would be like at high school. 10

t the same time l’m thankful that l have come this far. l know the experiences l have had here will help me adjust. I am so excited to be going to high school.
At the beginning of the fourth term l will be attending the Wisehub Conference in Bloemfontein.
impact in my life and shaped it for the better. l believe l am going to be one of the best students to ever attend Kerria Primary School and my future looks very bright. My dream or goal is to study to become a doctor. The subjects I intend to take are Mathematics and Science. I intend to go and study Medical Science at UCT.
How fortunate can one be, l cant believe that l’ve been given this opportunity to travel and be able to share my experiences with other grade sevens in the country and famous writers. l know l will learn a lot and l can’t wait to get there.
Add some info about what subjects you want to do and where you intend studying for your chosen career. Maybe something about country of your birth and the first few years of your life.
As l sit here l don’t think l could have asked for any other better primary school experience. All the different experiences and opportunities made such a great
