Lokalni prawnicy Adrian i Aldona Baronowie niedawno odwiedzili Gdańsk w Polsce, by wziąć udział w otwarciu Europejskiego Centrum Solidarności, upamiętniającego ruch robotniczy, który doprowadził do upadku komunizmu w Polsce. Usytuowany na obrzeżach zabytkowej dzielnicy Starego Gdańska, nowy budynek znajduje się w miejscu, gdzie narodził się polski ruch społeczny Solidarnoścć. Przez lata na tym terenie działała stocznia. Wysiłki Solidarności upamiętniono przy bramie stoczniowej na małym stoisku z pamiątkami i na kilku tablicach na murze. Stocznia została zastąpiona przez Europejskie Centrum Solidarności. W zbudowanej na terenie dawnej Stoczni Gdańskiej, imponującej konstrukcji czuje się zardzewiały metal na zewnątrz murów pośród plusku wody w fontannie przypominając długą historię miejsca zajmowanego przez stocznię. Wewnątrz zwiedzający napotykają interaktywne eksponaty wyszczególniające walkę Związku Solidarność z komunizmem, zainicjowaną przez Lecha Wałęsę i stoczniowców gdańskich. Na wystawie znajdują się nawet zrekonstruowane pokoje przesłuchań i odtworzone rozbicie o bramy stoczni milicyjnej furgonetki. Zwiedzający mogą obejrzeć stare nagrania i wejść do odtworzonego mieszkania z tamtej epoki. Visitors can watch old footage and step into a recreated apartment from the era.
