40 lat na CCSU 40 years at CCSU Świętowanie programu MATT KNOX
NEW BRITAIN — Ryszard Schnepf, ambasador Polski w Stanach Zjednoczonych, był honorowym gościem i mówcą w trakcie przyjęcia i obiadu na uniwersytecie Central Connecticut State University w niedzielę z okazji 40-lecia Programu Polskich Studiów “Moja obecność tutaj jest znakiem wdzięczności ze strony polskiego rządu” powiedział Schnepf. Według M.B.B. Biskupskiego Dziekana Fundowanej Katedry Historii i Polonii im. Stanisława A. Blejwasa, Program od początku swojego istnienia od 1974 roku wykształcił ponad 2000 studentów. Robiliśmy to dobrze. Będziemy robić jeszcze lepiej. “ Biskupski, który zna Schnepfa od wielu lat, wystąpił z propozycją zaproszenia go, co spotkało się z głośnym aplauzem. NEW BRITAIN — Ryszard Schnepf, the Polish ambassador to the United States, was the honored guest and keynote speaker at a reception and dinner at Central Connecticut State University on Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary dalszy CIĄG NA STRONIE 2 of the university’s Polish Studies Program.

“My presence here is a sign of gratitude from the Polish government,” said Schnepf. According to M.B.B. Biskupski, holder of the Stanislaus A. Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish and Polish American Studies, since the program’s inception in 1974, the program has educated over 2,000 students. CCSU is one of just a few universities in the country at which two years of Polish language classes are available. Along with university classes, the Polish Studies Program hosts many activties, lectures, and events, through which even more people have benefited. “We hope that they are better off for their experiences,” said Biskupski. “This event is a promise to the future. We have done well. We will do better.” Biskupski, who has known Schnepf for many years, took charge in extending the invitation. He received a resounding yes. Schnepf, who has held his current position since 2012, was ambassador to both Uruguay and Paraguay in the 1990s. He speaks five languages, and is known in Poland as “the most experienced diplomat in Polish foreign service.” Schnepf commended the program on its continuing goal: to offer and spread knowledge of Poland. At the same time, he also spoke about the city of New Britain, and its role as a safe haven for Polish scholars before the country gained its independence 25 years ago.
