Council to vote on Harbor Management Plan,which would outline policy for harbor By ERICA SCHMITT STAFF WRITER
A detailed plan for the future use of the Wethersfield Cove will be discussed and voted on by the Town Council at their meeting this Monday. The document was created to enhance grant opportunities for the town’s marina, which serves as an inlet to the Connecticut River and a recreational area. Volume 54, No. 01

Known as the Harbor Management Plan, the document outlines the Cove’s existing condition, as well as the town’s goals for the area and policies regarding the area’s management. The Harbor Management Commission spent the last year drafting the plan, the sole charge they were imparted with upon their formation in August 2011. They began last September using a model plan provided by the State Department of Environmental Protection, assistance from the Army Corps of Engineers, and input from residents. According to Parks and Recreation Director Kathy Bagley, Stephen Whitaker the finished plan will assist the Luminaria, which are small paper lanterns, lined Wethersfield Cove Dec. 22.
